Quelle chanteuse terriblement sous-estimée. Alors qu’elle avait tout : la beauté de la voix, la technique, le goût, le tempérament. Merci à vous d’entretenir son héritage et sa mémoire.
Hunter's neglect at ROH is nothing short of a scandal. She could sing rings around most of the so-called "star" names. Another amazing performance from your mother. X
Thats the girl l remember around the Coli. The last time l saw you was in Birmingham and we sat next to each other for Gurrerlieder and you taped the show for your mam.Hearing the Turandot from Birmingham linked the two together.Quite an emotional journey especially as Ken Collins was the tenor , wonderful singing from your dear Ma and not forgetting Rita Cullis we were students together at the Royal Manchester College.Wow such memories on all levels , thank you Mairwyn.💖xxxx
This is how it should be sung. Definitive attack (staccato-ish) on the high notes with chestvoice involved on the lower passages. It should sound this ”easy” and not with effort as so many else make it sound.
What an amazing performance made even more special because you were there. I am a new subscriber and I have listened to everything. The work you are doing is so important. I look forward to hearing more from your archives, which, I believe is rather extensive?
There is sooooo much to get through! I have boxes and boxes of audio cassettes which total in the thousands in terms of listening hours. Then there are the video cassettes, camcorder footage of concerts and master classes, photographs, write ups and programs. Last week, I chanced upon a cassette in early 1968 of Mum as Leonora in Il Trovatore. This was the first role she did after I was born!!!!!!

From 16:45 one of the great moments in grand opera, a "see god" moment that lifted me out of my seat the first time I heard it.
Splendid! Full opera?
I do have it. I may upload it one day :) There is plenty to upload :)
