Tulare County California removed over 3000 acres of Walnuts. We were only given 12 cents a lb for in shell walnuts. Black walnuts are not very good meat walnuts, they usually only use those for the root and are grafted so it may not be a black walnut?? Happy for your move 😁
Congrats on the new home! 100 times YES on vlogging on your new adventures! A new chapter in life might call for a new channel or name! Either way, I am here for it!
Welcome to Michigan! So excited for your next journey. We homestead on acreage in mid/northern Michigan and it’s the best way of life. Been doing it for about 10 years now and you won’t regret it. It’s the best way to raise kids too so they can see where their food comes from, get closer to nature, etc. Good luck!
Happy to hear about your new plans. I learnt a lot from you guys when i was doing full Keto. I do low carb now, and watch the count. Life is all about accepting changes whether it is what we eat, where we live, etc. Etc. Glad that Megha is doing well and feeling better. Country life is great. Good luck.
Homesteading is rewarding. I own a house in a small city and I grow tons of food. I grow things I use- tomatoes, onions, peppers, garlic, potatoes, carrots, lettuce, greens, green beans and herbs. Food preservation is great. I can , dehydrate and freeze. I enjoy it very much. I inherited my grandpas home with 10 acres. I have added more gardening and chickens. Not sure if I will ever do more animals but one can dream. I live in central/southern Illinois. Good luck in Michigan.
I've been following you two since you started this channel, happy for your life evolution and changes. Looking forward to seeing your new home and new adventures.
I'm so happy to see Megha is doing so well. I want to thank guys for starting me on my keto journey in 2017. I'm still on it 😊. I will follow you forever no matter what. Love you guys. Many Blessings to you and family. ♥️♥️♥️🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
I LOVE THE NEW DIRECTION YOUR CHANEL IS GOING. I LOVE WATCHING HOMESTEAD VIDEOS. I THINK WITH COVID ALOT OF PEOPLE CHANGED VAULUES AND APPRICATED GARDENS ETC. DONT KNOW IF THAT MADE SENSE BUT LOVE AND EXCITED TO SEE YOUR NEW HOUSE AND GARDEN AND EVERYTHING THAT IS COMING. HAVE A SAFE MOVE AND CANT WAIT TO SEE THE NEXT VIDEO.
congrats on the new move. i have followed you all since before the hose and the babies. i love watching you all grow and move on to new adventures. Watching your family grow and change in such amazing ways
Omg, Theo comforting Fifi was the cutest thing! He was so sweet & loving with him. 🥰 They've grown so much since I last watched a video. I'm so excited for the move & farmland for yall! Could yall possibly bring back the dinner & true crime series soon? I loved that so much lol.
As if you guys are not entertaining enough, so excited for the move to a farm. Welcome back to the Midwest from neighboring Illinois! Wishing you guys the best! Check out the Strong sisters. They also moved to a farm in Michigan.
I’m down for the farm Content. A lot of people are moving into homesteading it’s getting to be a popular topic. My parents bought 13 acres and are giving me 5 acres in one year. I’m going to be starting from the ground up also.
Can't wait to see yet its on a farm! First tip...get chickens! They control the ticks and other bugs, you'll have healthy eggs and learn to butcher in the future! Good luck on the move and have fun!!
I am dealing with symptoms similar to what Megha was diagnosed with (IC) and would love to know more about a bladder friendly menu. We also got into permaculture and growing our own food, having chickens, etc. years ago and it's definitely a learning curve. The best advice I have is to grow the things you will eat. Setting up a water capture system with hoses and timers will be your best friend! I will watch you succeed in your new adventures, blessings over your precious family!
Keep the Walnut tree and harvest every year. As you said, they are good for you. As long as your garden is at least 80 feet away from it you're fine. My step dads garden was probably only about 30 feet away and he always had great production.
Congratulations!!! Megha & Matt, Theo &. Felix- Farmers w/ Keto…. My Best…. But Please keep videos coming. My Love to you Wonderful people. Stay Safe.. You guys kept me sane during past 6 years. 😊. Again Congratulations.
Congrats on the new house I can’t wait to see it and watch you guys grow in it! I was thinking about when I first followed you before you had kids and how your content has changed it’s great to see you doing new things, I started following for the keto and stayed for the family keep it coming and best wishes with your move!
A channel for you to check out on UA-cam would be Hollar Homestead. Meg cans most of the food they grow and Ben can teach you a ton about permaculture, food forests, gardening, animal husbandry, and composting. In addition, she makes natural soaps and cosmetics and he makes knives. They have four boys and a little girl. I can guarantee you'll love their channel. I've been following you guys since before you moved to Atlanta and you were the go-to channel for me when I was starting keto. I still make your Egg Roll in a Bowl, Breakfast Casserole, keep a container of your 1 minute bread mix in the refrigerator, and use your recipe to make tortillas. It'll be 6 years on keto for me and I have no plans to stop. I've been watching homesteading channels about as long as I've on keto. Good for you that you have bought a farm in Michigan!!
I love this!! I've been keto for years and followed your guys as well for years. However I am a huge naturalist. I'm so excited for your journey. I wish I could share pictures here. My granddaughter broke a deer down with me last year.. it was so wonderful that she shares my interest.
Love following the journey ❤️ please do keep us in the loop on how things are going. I've been following you since the beginning. Life is life, glad you are rolling with it.
I’ve been watching for a long time… me being stage 4 kidney failure… I’m really interested in what you eat Megha … never thought about it till now that you could share you knowledge of what to eat to get my GFR higher and stay away from dialysis… I love soups would have liked to see how you made your soup on this video … love your fur baby and your children is one of the best parts of your videos… ❤ to all
WOW...I guess I haven't seen you guys in a while...not keto anymore 😢..we went from keto following you for AGES then we became carnivore...loving it!! Can't wait to see your new place..
Great choice! You have struggled for a while and this change seemed perfect. Michigan is amazing. We spend lots of time in the upper peninsula and it’s gorgeous
I can totally tell Matt is excited to move back to Michigan. I was cracking up over the whole hunting, "I just shot a gun for the first time like last week." 😂
I’m so looking forward to this new adventure. I grew up in Michigan (have lived in Mi…Ca…AL…back to Mi…now in Florida). Can’t wait to see the boys’ reaction to cold and snow. This is a wonderful reinvention of your channel. Will be watching…❤️
If its a black walnut tree they are so hard to crack! I mean run over with a car and won't crack, and the shell around it when tiles like black ink! That's probably the poison you talked about. And they are a real pain with a lawn mower! My friend would pay her grandkids a Nickel for each one they picked up to be able to mow the grass. But they have deep roots and won't fall over in storms like other trees and the shade from them are Amazing!! 20 ° drop in temps in summer under them. We had a picnic table under one. Have fun!! I love a farm!
So! How did Felix get so big all of the sudden? You have two adorable boys! Congratulations on your new home. I love Michigan and I hope you will, too. My only downfall with the State is that there can be a lot of prejudice. Otherwise, most people are welcoming and good. I lived there for fifteen years, moved to the San Fran Bay area, but plan to go back within the next year or so. I actually miss the winters. We ate a lot of deer. One thing I can tell you is that laying bacon across any roast you make helps! It's not the most fatty meat in the world. And also, neck roasts slow cooked are great. I don't know how many people eat those, but I loved them. Best wishes to all of you with the move! One more thing is that a hot tub is a great investment for winter months. I had one and there was nothing like it at night in winter when the snow was falling!
Congratulations on the move you two! I’m so excited for you both, I know when you moved to Atlanta it turned out to not be the most ideal place for you, so I am glad that you finally get to go experience Michigan! Also, even though you are experimenting with your overall diets, I will remain a supporter. You were the first Keto channel I subscribed to when my journey began in 2018. You are undoubtedly a huge part of why I stayed so focused and consistent. Though I am veering more towards Paleo now, Keto genuinely saved my life and changed it for the better. It feels like the end of an Era. Also, the boys are so sweet and I truly hope you all get to enjoy more of everything as a family. I moved to Southern GA this year and live on 27 acres-though only 7 are non-wooded. I too had all the same goals you are setting out to accomplish, but I must admit I was in over my head 😅I also think I’m in a time of my life where I’d rather rest. My biggest advice is to not allow yourselves to rest too much after the move as this may move your plans back, as it did mine haha.
I'm so excited for this change for you guys. It's going to be amazing!!! Looking forward to your new content. It's been amazing watching you guys over the years. Starting watching near the beginning.
I've been watching you guys since 2017. From the apartment days, the cookbook then moving to ATL. So glad to catch-up with the family before the big change. Yes, family is most important. On to the next adventure in LIFE.❤
We have 10 acres of black walnut trees. As long as we stay at least 50 feet away we can plant garden which we have always done. We've been here 43 years. I think you are going to love your new home.
How wonderful for you guys, your still young and can start a new life in the country, your children are so blessed to be able to live in the outdoors!! I pray for all blessings and abundance in your new chapter!!❤
Followed since you guys started. More than 5 yrs ago. Watched you both start keto and lose weight and acclimate to keto as a lifestyle. Watched you guys secure your bond together and overflow ur love to making babies. I hope it’s not creepy, but relationship and lifestyle goals. LOVE the idea of self sustenance! Keep us posted!! ❤
Homesteading means learning to preserve your own food as well as growing it. Good crops to start with are tomatoes, green beans, zucchini, & squash. Pumpkins are fun and decorative. Start with just a few plants of each and expand each year. It’s easy to get overwhelmed with the work and the harvest. Canning green beans and tomatoes is super easy. Lots of great channels available now to help. Start a compost pile, it’s free fertilizer!!
if you are getting chickens get the correct housing the first time. After three years I finally got the perfect set up but I wasted a lot of money on my way to perfect.... You are going to love it.
Butternut squash is so easy to grow and so abundant. I planted in March and harvested 18 huge squash in July. Used electro cultural around the small garden and everything was larger than normal and healthy

I'm mostly plant-based these days but still watch your channel all these years later. Your oldest has the same birthday as my youngest and it's fun to see how he's doing. I'm so happy for your exciting news- I'd move to Michigan too if I could. Lucky ducks!
I'm so excited for you guys! I've been following and watching for a long time now, even though I haven't been Keto in a very long time now! I'm SOS free WFPB and it works best for me. Can't wait to see the farm and what adventures the new home holds for you guys! ❤ from SC!
Great video! I'm excited to hear about your move and welcome to Michigan! Your channel is the first I followed when started keto. I now eat low-carb and love seeing the changing in your diets, now that you have kids. I will definitely continue to watch, to see your new adventures 😊
I couldn't help but think of the Alaska mom with 4 kids whose husband hunts moose and fish and she still goes to costco and spends $500 each trip. I think it is a myth that you can hunt/grow your own food. Good luck. You are going to need it.
Hi Megha - used to follow ketoconnect way way, sad to hear about your kidney’s, please don’t get sick or lose your hair trying to be thin, a healthy balanced diet never ever hurt anyone! Hope you get well soon!!!
Black Walnut trees: I have several, and my gardens always do just fine (two very large ones being right over 2 of the gardens). There are no black walnut trees in any of our pastures, though. We raise cows, goats, and chickens. The chickens have free access to the whole 20 acres but used to stay mainly under and around the black walnut trees. No issues. The cows and goats do not have access, so I can't speak for that.
Lived in Maine for 35 yrs before retiring to Florida. Deer meat was our staple for life. Great roasts and Hamburg for recipes. Just don’t let the kids think of deer as “Bambi “. I remember my kids asking if the Hamburg was deer meat…I’d always say “No”. So they ate it in all the recipes I made. Had a lot of the meat ground into sausage and Hamburg!
We have two giant black walnut trees on an acre lot. I hate them!!! When the walnuts fall the squirrels get them and they are all over the yard. Broken black shells everywhere. I would pay someone to take them away. And you are right. They ruin the ground.
Due to our current climate I really wish I had had given more thought to the rural route. So excited for you. Please take us along on the move as well as all the new adventures.
You can have a mansion or a shack....homesteading is about raising your own food and being self-sufficient. You can have a nice house and know how to survive self-sufficiently. Don't let anyone tell youdifferent
Grow shiitake mushrooms using the younger tree logs if it has oaks, maple, or hickory. Health food stores typically buy them from me, but farmer's market is another venue. Use the forests if you have water on there, you can soak the logs in the water when you need to encourage a "flush"of mushrooms to sell and/or eat. You could make more money from such than developing a pasture on the equivalent amount of land. I do it here in Arkansas myself. All the best with your move! 😊
Our farm has a black walnut tree right outside the house. Its been there a hundred years. The truck patch/ garden a short distance across the lane never was affected. However, a limb once fell and broke my mother's clavicle
I don't care what you guys eat or what you name your channel, I'll always be here for the cute babies and the kitty cameos
Ditto!
Yep 😊
I'm here for the opposite.
Samsies, I actually would like to learn about growing veggies
Yeah love the kitty cameos ❤
I love how you never stop growing as a family! You're living your real life, not a life for the camera! I'm excited to follow your new chapter!

Come on leave the 50 yr old walnut tree!! You can trim branches... and plant elsewhere...
I second this comment!!! 🌳 it's 50 YEARS OLD!
I third this comment I agree
No f'ing way! Mine is older than that, HUGE and a f'ing mess every year! I cannot afford to get it cut down, but hate the tree.
You can shoot the deer just get the hunting license! Get rid if the tree. You can't grow many vegetables, so your garden would be a dud!
Nooooo keep the tree 🌳

I'm so excited for you guys! I've been following and watching for a long time now, even though I haven't been Keto in a very long time now! I'm SOS free WFPB and it works best for me. Can't wait to see the farm and what adventures the new home holds for you guys! ❤ from SC!
Great video! I'm excited to hear about your move and welcome to Michigan! Your channel is the first I followed when started keto. I now eat low-carb and love seeing the changing in your diets, now that you have kids. I will definitely continue to watch, to see your new adventures 😊
More kitten cameos please!! Lol. That was super cute and funny, I just lossed my sweet baby and this made me smile
I couldn't help but think of the Alaska mom with 4 kids whose husband hunts moose and fish and she still goes to costco and spends $500 each trip.
I think it is a myth that you can hunt/grow your own food.
Good luck. You are going to need it.
They don’t seem like the types that will enjoy hard physical labor of farming, but who knows.
Congrats, I’m sure you’re gonna love it and so are your kids
I’m in love with your kitty 🐈⬛!! 🥰 I love watching your beautiful family do life!! You’re all so precious!! 🤗
Wish LMNT had less sodium and more potassium! Congrats on your new home 🏡 💗 ❤️ 💕!
Wonderful! Oh the boys are going to love it!
We have two giant black walnut trees on an acre lot. I hate them!!! When the walnuts fall the squirrels get them and they are all over the yard. Broken black shells everywhere. I would pay someone to take them away. And you are right. They ruin the ground.
You’ll have to check out That 1870s Homestead, they’re in Michigan!
Man, and you both hit the jackpot with each other. Love watching you guys. Will always be a fan. Learn so much from you both. Thank you.
Kitten steals the show! 😍
Our farm has a black walnut tree right outside the house. Its been there a hundred years. The truck patch/ garden a short distance across the lane never was affected. However, a limb once fell and broke my mother's clavicle
So happy for you all. The kids will love the room to run and explore. Wishing you all the best 😊
Can’t wait to follow your new adventures! You’re going to be the next Biggest Little Farm!
