Renmark South Australia: All the things we loved

🚙 DESTINATION: Renmark, South Australia.
📍 WHERE: Renmark is a town in South Australia's rural Riverland area, and is located 254 km northeast of Adelaide, on the banks of the Murray River. It's in the Renmark Paringa Council LGA.
👉🏽 COUNTRY: On the traditional land of the Erawirung people.
❓WHY: The area is one of two locations chosen for "irrigation colonies" in the late 1800s to turn the arid area into productive farmland (the other was Mildura). It is still nown for its fruit production today.
📅 WHEN: We travelled in early spring when the days were mostly warm, but it gets cool in the evening.
🛌STAYED: Hotel Renmark - Great little apartment and excellent meals and drinks options in the historic pub itself right next door. Nicely located overlooking the river and close to centre of town.
☕🍽🍹 FOOD & DRINKS: Great coffee and light breakfast at Arrosto Coffee . Gin cocktails and fantastic pizza lunch at 23rdstreetdistillery .
🏆OTHER HIGHLIGHTS: Nice walk around Paringa Paddocks in Murrray River National Park (National Parks and Wildlife Service South Australia ). We also called in for a look around Olivewood Historic Homestead & Museum which was an original home of the Chaffey family - irrigation pioneers. Very interesting.
