Thanks for playing and feedback! Some comments: - 9:30 Breva Rundas' head is vanilla. - Gremlins are indeed taken from TESA: Redguard - the main character gets transformed into one via a curse during the main quest. - Ayleid textures and models are hand-made by the modding community. - OpenMW 0.49 is required because the mod uses water meshes to imitate water in places like fountains, mountain rivers, etc (Morrowind world water is all one level). And on previous versions of OpenMW you won't be able to grab items that are under this fake water. - Btw, playing Vanilla + Morrowind Script Extender is totally an option too. It even has some new features, like spells and enchantments. - The Bluepox quest doesn't get a follow-up in IP questline because it's just one interaction with a world-event that happened in the Navy - their ship was attacked by something enigmatic and powerful. It might be explored in the Navy questline in the later release. Meanwhile, you can get additional clues about the event by talking to the Navy people, reading the newspaper, or exploring the sunken Navy vessel. - TEM stands for "Third Empire of Men". - The crystal gems you turned off in the Ayleid ruin were traps that blast an intruder with magick. But since water blocks all range magick, they were just a spectacle of an ancient dysfunctional trap. - Btw, memory stones function like books. And Nemon's Memory Stone is a very very good book written by Douglas Goudhal (also known as AFFA), one of TES 3 developers, just recently.

27:45 Yeah, I think having wizards heat the baths with magic would be more expensive than heating them with coal. even before thinking about the efficiency of turning magica to heat compared to turning coal to heat, any wizard with the skill to reliably cast a waterheating spell strong/efficient enough to make a significant contribution to heat a public bath would either be associated with the mages guild or another magic focused faction-ie effectively unionized and having the connections to have some alternatives for work, or they are independantly wealthy enough to support their studies, meanwhile to heat with coal you need someone to keep an eye on the furnaces and water teperature who shovels coal into the furnaces when necessary, and coal-a common ore typically mined poorly paid workers (or possibly unpaid prisoners). getting coal and a furnace operator just seems like an easier and more reliable time than trying to find a wizard with the right skill willing to do a boring monotonus job for the same or less pay than the furnace heating setup would cost.
13:04 Yes I do. At least, I think I do. So, "theological" means "related to religion," and "metaphysical" can mean either "describing the basic rules behind reality" or "existing beyond or outside of reality." They're similar, but not necessarily the same thing. This NPC is basically saying that this text sounds like it's talking about something religious, but it's actually talking about the fundamental rules of reality and/or something that exists outside of mortal perception in a scientific or otherwise irreligious lens.
What's really fun is when you retroactively apply metaphysics to religion as allegory, and then discover that somehow the religion had codified high-level metaphysics into their pantheon or whatever. So like, religion was our attempt at discerning metaphysics without knowing what metaphysics was. And since we had no idea what we were doing we just went with whatever felt intuitive. Which as it turns out, was correct. Which means that intuition is our instinctual understanding of the metaphysics of reality. Which is like, 'Yeah, that's a fine theory and all that,' but then you discover that a TON of metaphysics can be mapped by things like Strange Attractors, which are physical objects mapped by mathematics. That's when it gets spooky. ......... I blame Morrowind's lore for my interest in this material.
In TES the metaphysical has an extra meaning: it's the rules of reality/the "earthbones". You get into metaphysical and you're talking divine magic-- mysticism on the level of Sotha Sil and Divayth Fyr, Daedra, Aedra, tonal magic, the dragons' thu'um, star magic like the Ayleids practiced, that sort of stuff. You get used to associating "metaphysics" with "the rules of the Aurbis" if you fly close enough to Vivec's theological lore, Sotha Sil, or the Dwemer, as they're the ones who point-blank call it that and use it as a term in conjunction with divinity and its reality-reshaping powers. (Divine Metaphysics in particular is the translated title of a Dwemer book on the theory of the Numidium, IIRC.) "Weave redemption from sin" sounds like "reach heaven through violence" talk, so I'd guess that this is a Mephalan Ayleid cult: the redemption is returning to the before-mortality state of the et'Ada, being "redeemed" from mortal flesh through "weaving" and Sinweaver's form (a sword) and effects (weariness and flames) makes me think of ayleid flesh-gardens and also the usual Daedric theme of torture as something redemptive that Boethiah, Molag Bal and Mehrunes Dagon all espouse in one way or another as an ascension toward divinity. Weaving a blood-and-tears-pearled web of sins to climb up towards divinity with it. (Azurah has a similar lattice-to-divinity imagery with ancient Khajiti afterlife of climbing up rosevines and past the winds to make it onto the Lunar Lattice and onto the sands of Lles'weyr, and getting your palms and fingers torn to bloody shreds and wetting the rosevines with your effort, falling back down over and over until you make it up all in one wild climb god-ward.) Though even if I'm wrong about which Ayleid cult this is with "weave", divinity in Daedric teachings can be summed up the most simply with Sotha Sil, paraphrased: divinity built from a mountain of innumerable corpses. Vivec hints that it's the crudest form of ascension when he proposes it to Nerevar/the Nerevarine: if you can't find divinity through rhetoric, then reach it through murdering the divine with the profane.

Traveling with a Minotaur makes sense if she's a priest in Cyrodil. Saint Alessia's consort and lover, Morihaus, was a (possibly winged) Minotaur. And yes, this is supposed to be the same Morihaus as the "Pit Fighter" who has a statue in the Arena in the Imperial City. Apparently there was a whole thing about saying people who weren't human historically actually were as a way of wiping the early contributions of non-humans to the (at the time, very humanocentric) Empire. Which means that any Emperor from the Alessian line, up to and including --Sean Bean-- Martin Septim, are canonically part Minotaur.
unless i am misunderstanding somefin aren't the septims biologicaly compleatly unrelated to alessia? like they are heirs of alessia in the sense that they are dragonborn but that has nofin to do with being of the same bloodline
"a way of wiping the early contributions of non-humans" That's some nice lampshading over what likely happened in reality, namely that Bethesda didn't have the budget to do the required assets during TES IV development, so they reverted to human base models for stuff like Morihaus and the Tsaesci.
@sultanofrum2478 Actually, irl, Morihaus was retconned into being a Minotaur by the Knights of the Nine expansion. In-game lore from before the expansion left it unclear what form he took, but iirc he was still referred to as a demigod and the son of Kyne. Micheal Kirkbride has even said he joked with someone (someone named he referred to as "Kurt") about how the statue would need to be retconned after the expansion. The in-universe lore for the statue is literally that the Alessian Order, which standardized the worship of the Eight (eventually Nine, with the ascension Tiber Septim as Talos) Divines, declared Minotaurs to be monsters akin to Trolls and Ogres, stripped them of their rights as people, and wiped their contributions to the First Empire from history, all because they were strong and weren't human, and the Alessian Order was a human supremacist group.
I love the theorizing and using knowledge to ascertain probable facts in this fantasy world, such as the hole in the Argonian skeleton's head and the lore from the Ruddy Man and Molag Bal.
@JustBackgroundNoise the funny thing is, i was going along with it too, like "yeah, 1000 of anything will get expensive, except for rice...but then again, theyd sell that amount by Weight, not by Count, so youd never really have to buy '1000 Grains of Rice', itd just be like '50lb of'-- [cut] OH RIGHT! this is an Elder Scrolls video!"
Wow. It's come so far. I used to follow this religiously on the discord and technically joined before life got busy. Great video btw, loved the King's Field music.
Last Morrowind playthrough I did a Nord battlemage and used the Staff of Magnus for the majority of my run. Confused why people say it's not great, it's super fast and really keeps enemies at a distance. I think it was something like 10.8ft reach and 175% speed. Most of the time my enemies were just stunlocked from how fast the DPS output was. Sure good for pokin' Cliff Racers, though. Staves are fun.
In Ancient Greece the Lamia was actually a beautiful queen, of the region that is modern day Libya in most stories, who was punished by Hera after she had a fling with Zues. Initially it was having her children of that courtship taken, or killed, which drove her mad so she began eating other children. These cruel acts twisted her into a monstrous form, which was said to be half woman and half snake. So it would not be wrong to depict Lamia and Naga as being very similar, as both have the whole "snake woman" thing going on. There is probably some root tale, lost to time, as many cultures seem to have these snake woman monsters, akin to dragons, spirits/fae and many others.

Another JBN Morrowind video, another great time! Absolutely loved it, glad to see an Animal Fact back with the Argonian skull talk too. I'm not sure if you take suggestions for video ideas, but one came to mind a while back, wouldn't leave my head, and I feel I have to share it: some kind of anti-slavery run, freeing every slave possible (and possibly killing every slaver) - the mod "OOAB Brother Junipers Twin Lamps" by Lucevar on Nexus would be a great fit for that. Of course, it's just an idea, but I thought I'd share it nonetheless. Thanks again for these amazing videos!
SO GLAD someone else noticed the hitbox change with openmw 0.49. it makes solstheim and other high level areas very difficult, and downgrading player files doesn't work. :/
I find that to be a pretty concerning change, like he said in the video, it basically removes what little dynamic element combat has in Morrowind. It’s especially concerning since to my knowledge this is the first time OpenMW has made a mandatory change to balance. I do hope its quickly changed or patched and this isn’t an early indicator of something like the USSEP
I have insomnia but something about your videos or voice or something knocks me clean out and I can actually get some sleep for once. Thank you for helping me sleep actually life changing 😭😂🙏🏾
I usually just listen while I am cooking, but had to come over to see the Ayleid ruins and I just absolutely love when people can repaint and bring life back into things. Ages ago I used to repaint monster meshes for some games, don't have the energy anymore but love seeing when other people do :D this whole thing looks fantastic!
41:40 going off of Oblivion mechanics, those Loria Stones are just traps that would fire an elemental projectile at you (usually ice iirc) and were there to protect Varla Stones. So its likely those ones are the same and that button shut them off so they stopped killing you. Might be different in the mod though idk
Fun fact: a gyrovague is an itinerant monk They're listed in the Rule of St. Benedict as one of the types of "bad" monk because there were issues with monks living outside of monastic orders just kind of scamming people, like what Uricalmio was doing
Random question, why do they serve as Umaril’s minions? What’s the specific connection there beyond Elven races generally having a much higher tolerance for Daedra?
Ayleids saw light as the purest expression of magic so that's why there's no fires or torches in Ayleid ruins. Fire was seen as primitive and even barbaric. Meridia is a daughter of Magnus (God of magic) and known as Lady of Light. She would be a benevolent if not for her complete hostility to free will.
18:03 sent me back to the Fable prologue, why does the city feel the same in that specific spot? I don't even think it was a well, it had a tree there I believe.

@@gogovish Yeah they're not related through blood
The passion and commitment of the Elder Scrolls modding scene is always incredible to see.
15:10 The King's Field OST fits flawlessly here. Really neat.
TEM = Third Empire (of) Man which is what the septim empire is
21:17(ish) - i love the sudden cuts of "yeah, they get the point" in your videos
That's me going off script and then realizing I've been lingering on a stupid topic for too long.
That little freak was probably a Gremlin, a type of Goblin-ken that appears in Redguard
Yupee nub nub...
All I'm saying is that you don't see them in Skyrim so the Thalmor did something right.
I was scrounging youtube for cosy content and couldn't hae hit a better mark than this one. Thank you very much!
Lily is the avatar of Saint Naharine, not Dibella. There's some dialogue about it after she appears.
Wow. It's come so far. I used to follow this religiously on the discord and technically joined before life got busy.
Great video btw, loved the King's Field music.
'Any time now?' A traditional Colovian greeting.
Edit: I'm happy people get the reference.
#WearingOrcishArmorIsCool
Any time now.
Dude, this looks incredible.
31:38 Chipmonk isn't allowed to watch because they know any self-respecting Monk of Dibella isn't gonna be able to keep their hands to themselves
I need me some Lamussy
your reward for the final quest of the video was a permanent spell effect from lily by the way, that's the spell she casted after you exited dialogue :p you can see it get added to your hotbar at 50:34
I haven't played this game since the early 2000s and I probably don't have the time these days to get back into it. But man, I just love your videos! They let me enjoy a small bit of the experience vicariously.
Im glad they used Pre-Oblivion Cyrodiil for the mod since the Cyrodiil we actually got was so boring compared to the in-lore Cyrodiil
16:25 Enormous lore drop out of nowhere, classic TES style
@@nickoliekeyov746 yeah i really wish it were an option i could check, like their other balance options.
the character you meet at the broken shrine, Lily, is actually a manifestation of Saint Naharine that the river is named after!
I have insomnia but something about your videos or voice or something knocks me clean out and I can actually get some sleep for once.
Thank you for helping me sleep actually life changing 😭😂🙏🏾
"You may be wondering why Chipmunk is level 1... He's wondering that, too." 👌Flawless
EDIT: Altogether though probably your funniest video ever
I usually just listen while I am cooking, but had to come over to see the Ayleid ruins and I just absolutely love when people can repaint and bring life back into things. Ages ago I used to repaint monster meshes for some games, don't have the energy anymore but love seeing when other people do :D this whole thing looks fantastic!
Your expositions and theories on the elder scrolls lore is always interesting to hear. I love it. And the mod is amazing!
32:25 missed opportunity, you could have also talked about the mind goblins
Very interesting lore, if you like to I can talk about them
@@Jack567898 I hear they're native to the province of Sugondee
Ooooh a well edited, funny, narrated "LP" these are getting rare. that's gonna be a like and sub.
i have been blessed, thank you my sweet background noise
41:40 going off of Oblivion mechanics, those Loria Stones are just traps that would fire an elemental projectile at you (usually ice iirc) and were there to protect Varla Stones. So its likely those ones are the same and that button shut them off so they stopped killing you. Might be different in the mod though idk
I like how the fans who don’t get paid makes lore accurate fan made games than the actual games itself. That’s elder scrolls for ya.
Love ur vids please dont stop. Havent watched for pst 6 months cuz busy with life but am excited to binge thank you
I also dont like that hitbox change. Telegraphed attacks shouldnt act like a hitscan weapon.
God damn it with the fatigue bar.
Look at us, a bunch of gullible fools.
Fun fact: a gyrovague is an itinerant monk
They're listed in the Rule of St. Benedict as one of the types of "bad" monk because there were issues with monks living outside of monastic orders just kind of scamming people, like what Uricalmio was doing
Aurorans are From Meridias daedric realm the Colored Rooms, hence the rainbow and them basically glowing. Love your content ❤ keep up the great work!
@@holo525 A NEW HAND TOUCHES THE BEACON AND IS NOW MY BITCH.
13:53 It is indeed from Redguard. You get turned into one even.
18:03 sent me back to the Fable prologue, why does the city feel the same in that specific spot? I don't even think it was a well, it had a tree there I believe.
I getcha though.
Dude your videos are so entertaining! I want to put them on as background noise but I end up forgetting to do work and watching you play instead!
Just Foreground Noise is so back
I really enjoyed this one, cool mod, hope to see more!
15:26
I actually said "Woah" there, that is an impressive entrance for a dungeon.
I love your videos. I love the commentary. You are the sole reason i ended up playing morrowind when it game with skyrim when i bought the special edition. but now i havent even touched skyrim and morrowind has like 100 hours already (bought it a little before christmas.)
When i get a less potato computer - i wish to download some of these areas and mod the game.
Appreciate your content. hope you are having a pleasant start to the new year.
12:45 That looks like that thing you get cursed into in Redguard when you piss off the Archmage.
It may be a bit late, but happy new year to you!
Hope this year will be good for you.
Thanks for your great content.
Anvil was always my favorite city. Its fantastic to see it so well recreated
Okay, I cracked up at the bit about "gyrovague". Nice one, and good vid. Oblivion would be my favourite game if it weren't as flawed as it is, so if I ever actually find the time to play Morrowind properly, this would probably be the first mod I pick up.
5:30 the mod versions are so much more interesting than what we got
2:11 That made me burst out laughing. Very clever, my dude.
I was elated to see a new upload from you, love your stuff!
Eels use shock to incapacitate other animals, so maybe the shock damage of the mermaids isn't too far off
To my knowlage a bazaar is an indoorish market.
I swear your videos scratch an itch I didn't know I had. They're so well done.
Really fun to see synapsid/diapsid spilt being brought up in a morrowind video.
Keep up the great work!
Man I love your videos. They must take ages to put together, but it’s much appreciated! I should play Morrowind again…
Fresh white rice is indeed a bit of a tongue twister in an american accent, but with a latviešu accent it is perfectly clear.
20:07 Gyrovague means something like "wanderer" (it's funny when I instictively know english words that native english speakers don't, just from the latin root)
I always watch you to try to fall asleep and end up watching the entire vid 😂😂 bravo bro
13:11 Finally, a mod that combines my love of TES and Gilmore Girls
It looks like Oblivion has gotten an upgrade
Except the npcs are still robots in human disguises
@@Hunter-ib9ksthats true for every game with npcs
After finding you last week I've watched your entire backlog of ES videos so this is my first current video of yours. Yay for me.
Would love to see more of this, a part 2 exploring the mod.
Recently picked up morrowind myself thanks to your content and I have to say
Getting into a 15-minute brawl with a dunmer woman in the Seyda Neen lighthouse over an egg, and nobody caring after I killed her feels like absolute peak Morrowind.
I’d also love to see more from this mod, I’ll be sure to catch a stream sometime!
These mods are amazing
There is a direct correlation between the duration of your uploads and the increased level of happiness I experience from seeing it in my feed
the little things like the head bonk going down the stairs are what make these videos so great
Great as always, you sound like you're happy to do some new quests!
Elder scrolls games (and mods) have always been held back by the engine, it seems
