    Good video. For those who just want to get the radio in fast. I was able to do it without disconnecting anything like the airbag connector etc. I pre soldered the connector from the stereo to my Metra 70-5521 Radio Wiring Harness. After that I opened up the cup holder and reach underneath it pulling out of the center bezel with just my fingers to get the bezel to pop loose then just continued up with my fingers till it was off. 7mm deepwell on the 4 screws holding the stereo in, slid the old huge stereo out as I pushed the center bezel out of the way, disconnected stereo , ran my two long usb cables from the new stereo so they hung just a bit from under my dash, connected the new stereo, on a 2005 f150 the directions say to use the spacers with the Metra 99-5815 dash kit ( btw you may have to take off your bezel to your new stereo to fit into the Metra dash kit..my stereo is the boss BV800acp and the bezel had to be removed to fit properly..at first I though I bought the wrong dash kit) if you decide to install the spacers the 4 screws that hold the stereo in wont tighten down as they are not long enough with the spacers, had to use plyers to pull off of few of the metal clips that came off the bezel and stuck in the dash and reinstall them back to the bezel, slap it back together and done. The whole thing minus the soldering of the Metra 70-5521 Radio Wiring Harness to the stereo harness took about 10 minutes.

    Very helpful video! I just installed a different version. Crutchfield will currently send a pre-wired harness connection for an extra $20, which I decided to have them do. I just figured one less possible thing for me to do incorrectly. Their directions called for using the included spacers for the face plate, but it ended up being a better fit without the spacers so I left them off.

    Grab it from the bottom near the cup tray and pull with even force. It'll pop off much easier and you won't damage anything

      Bwelsb 1769 I can only suggest that you get in touch with whoever sold you the Pioneer stereo to see if they sent you the correct wiring harness connector for your vehicle. Mine came from Crutchfield and fit perfectly. Good luck!

    Agreed with others - thanks for taking your time to do this video... How are you liking this unit, thus far? Assuming it sounds and functions well?

      It's good, but there are a couple of things I don't like. Mostly has to do with the size of the display information. There's a lot of screen area available but the size of the displayed text is small.

      mus tang Hello. I would suggest trying your local Ford dealership parts department. If they can't help you, try a local u-pull-it auto salvage yard.

    Nice video. How (where) did you connect the green wire to the reverse circuit? TIA

    • @gizmoflyslow9854
      @gizmoflyslow9854  3 роки тому

      E TP. Sorry to say, I didn't connect the radio unit to the reverse circuit because I'm lazy and didn't want to figure out where to make that connection. I simply turned on the backup camera using the controls on the touchscreen and then turned it off when I was done backing up. I thought I mentioned that in the video at some point. Sorry I can't be of more help. Good luck with your installation.

    How did you go about running that rear camera

    • @gizmoflyslow9854
      @gizmoflyslow9854  6 років тому

      Well, I had every intention of producing a separate video to show how I did that. I filmed it, but never put it together to post on UA-cam. Basically, here's what I did.
      1. I ran the cable under the carpet and under the left side kick-panel,
      2. Pulled up and removed the plastic door trim at the bottom of the door sill
      3. Drilled out an oval-shaped hole through the bottom of the cable trough,
      4 Fed the camera cable through that hole (then sealed it with silicone),
      5 Ran the cable along the underside of the driver's side of the cab/truck bed (secured with zip ties)
      6. Made my own mounting plate out of sheet aluminum. The mounting plate is attached above the bumper using the mounting screws for the license plate. The camera is recessed to allow the tail gate to drop down.
      Hope this helps.

    I couldn't watch anymore after you cold joint soldered and said you were using tape. You should heat from below and add solder to the wire, not from the iron.

    • @gizmoflyslow9854
      @gizmoflyslow9854  6 років тому +2

      Really? Sorry to insult your sensibilities. LOL!

    • @oliver_klozoff
      @oliver_klozoff 6 років тому

      Mike Sanford if you are going to cold joint, you may as well use butt connectors as you don't know how to do it properly.

    • @gizmoflyslow9854
      @gizmoflyslow9854  6 років тому

      OK. I have NO idea where I "cold joint soldered" anything in this video. Would you mind giving me the point on the video where I did this?

    • @oliver_klozoff
      @oliver_klozoff 6 років тому

      Mike Sanford when you heated the solder on the iron and then slopped it on the cold wires. To properly make an electrical connection, you should hear the wires and add solder to the wire for a proper connection. You also didn't Flux them and I didn't see Flux core wire.

      sconnly86. Tell me the exact minute and second within my video where I soldered any connections. If you can't tell me that specific moment in my video, don't bother replying to my comment.
