    Not a Vegan (I respect y’all though) was just bored so I stumble across this video, made it, gave it to my non-vegan partner (who doesn’t like red meat for some reason lol) and she was mind blown. When I told her it was not meat she told me this is the only steak she’s willing to eat with me. You guys rock!

    After I was diagnosed with a chronicle disease, my diet was cut off dramatically. Fell into depression, lost a lot of weight, and was struggling to keep up the basic nutrients to keep my body going. But I am grateful to all the vegans out there becuse your dedication and imagination changed my life. I am not vegan but vegetarian, but let me tell you, after stumbling into tjis recipe I stopped missing red meat.

    As a former meat-eater, I think these guys' approach is the best. You don't get carnivores to go vegan by making them feel judged or morally wrong, or attacking them with facts and statistics. The creature of habit will retreat and get defensive, as I did many times. This is the way to actually get most people to ethustiastically go vegan

      @@v-22 Well, it's not really easy in home environment to replicate a real meat with all its flavors, structures ect. But I believe that eating and making it enjoyable doesn't have to mean making a product in 100% close to the original thing, because if not then "it won't be satisfying enough"... It's true that people are addicted to flavors and food structures. It's also true that we can come up with other substitutes for the original products. At the end, we all can just choose what we want to support with our own free will.

Personally I think if you start with pleasing palats, stomachs, and ease of making (get the public to like some recipes first - vegan curious lol!) may make transition less political and intimidating. Also if can teach small space gardening etc. to introduce people to growing even a small amount of food, may help too. Thank you for new recipes.

    Update: I was right... drop the chilli to one teaspoon and add at least 130ml of water, not 90! I also added a tablespoon of olive oil. Also, whizz the puy lentils on their own, first, before adding other ingredients (and a tip about them... they don't keep! So use up the rest or freeze them.

      It is the only ethical, sustainable, and healthy way to cohabit this planet.
      As for your overweight, you ought to do intermittent fasting immediately. The changes/improvements will start after the 16th fasting hour. Personally I do 20/4 or even 23/1 one meal a day. It's not hard and I will do it till the last day of my life.

    I’ve attempted this recipe several times. But when I get to the boiling part it turns into a spongey piece of bread soaked in water.
    Also for all the people that say all the gluten is bad for you. Yes if you have celiac disease. When did it become bad for people without celiac disease and why? Just a question?

    • @katjones5187
      @katjones5187 4 роки тому +14

      Don't boil. Try steaming it. It helps the consistency and seals in the flavor.

    • @SkySweetie
      @SkySweetie 4 роки тому +4

      Essentially. Celiac is a learned intolerance. A person gets to that point by exhausting their body trying to digest certain hard to eat, overly processed, mistreated, gmo foods and then your body puts up antibodies to it as it is feeding disease in many forms. (Bacterial growth, intestine clogs, chemical leaks from, and the grain can literally scrape up your intestine and cause mucous build up which stops your body from absorbing nutrients as it makes a gel like wall).
      It's just not a nourishing or healing food. It costs your body rather than gives to your body, besides the mental stimulation from chewing, but that doesn't last longer than than the digestive effort and process.
      Ever check the ingredients on the side of some rat poison boxes? Exclusively gluten as an ingredient. Poor things..
      If you want to take those risks and you're not at an autoimmune point and you're super duper digestive strong. Do what you want!

      Gluten is not "good" for anyone because it is hard on the gut lining mainly, and repeated attacks lead to leaky gut. It is one of the few proteins our bodies cannot fully break down. But depending on how strong your gut lining is and how much & often you consume it - giving it time to repair -, depends on whether or not you will have noticeable ill effects from it.

But to say this is a better way and it’s ethical and all this and that… I think we forget that we do need to understand that it is also ethical to be a hunter. Helps keep the balance of wildlife.

    My grandma has been making different kinds of seitan for years, most of my family is vegan but she’s stopped making the seitan because it was making her sick. I’ve always wanted to know how she made it but I DID NOT understand how she could boil a dough????? And for some reason I never looked further into it. I love that you did this! I would love to cut meat out of my diet until I become vegetarian, but I hate how processed vegan meat alternatives are. I’m going to have to try this!

      For me, the best method is steaming, sometimes something goes wrong when cooking. 400gr -500gr. Seitan in steam for about 45 minutes. Seitan should not be eaten every day, but should be served like meat 1-2 times a week and always with a lot of fiber.
