Same here. It STILL makes me laugh. Of course "being older now and more insightful" (har har), I think Beverly knew that Dottie was a "woman on the edge" and she played on that to make Dottie just run her mouth off without thinking.... Bwah hah hah.
One of the most memorable characters to grace the screen. Turner killed this role so hard. This scene and basically how she outsmarts every witness was amazing to watch. One of the best movies of the 90's.
The producers claimed it was based on a true story and in the closing credits they claimed they tried to interview the "real" Beverly Sutphin but she refused.
Turner is so funny did you notice how she implied that Mrs Hinkle has a drinking problem by using drink, drunk and drinking in her questioning. This is my favourite scene so funny
I remember laughing so hard when this came out. We were far too young to be seeing this, but that's probably why it was so funny. Before this movie you did not hear anybody speak like that in the court of law on a movie lol.😄🤣
Both Kathleen Turner and (the Legendary) Mink Stole should have gotten nominated for best Actress in a comedy, from this scenes merits alone. Wayyyyyyy incredibly hilarious!!! :-)
This entire scene belongs in The Smithsonian Archives. When Beverly Sutphin hides her mouth and says "Fuck you", it's so perfectly juvenile. It perfectly embodies Beverly having a perfectly outward facing life and being a complete degenerate inside. Dottie Hinkle's response, "Did you see that?! She just said 'Fuck you' to me! Fuck you too you whore." gets me every time. She's being gaslighted, but in a such a funny way. Also, at the start of the scene, you can hear the composer making fun of The People's Court with the bongos.
And it amazes me how Beverly/kathleen knows how to get under dottys skin easy as hell, all dotty had to do was ignore her crazy ass,I wish they made a part 2.
I always wanted to walk into a courthouse for a high profile case in dark sunglasses flanked by my legal team and paparazzi and now I want to be dragged out by bailiffs while shouting obscenities just like this. OMG.
Mrs Hinkle, are you insane? 😂😂 That delivery kills me every time! I love Kathleen Turner’s selection in roles overall, but this is probably my favorite (even more than Peggy Sue!)
i love the music playing as she enters the courtroom, and her walk, followed by beverlys face, that has me in stitches before the interrogation even starts
So far it's been funny for 28 years old and still going strong. I think it's what people dream of saying if they fail a job interview or lose on a game show.
@@pcwmoondoggie My mother, too. Once, when I was 12 or 13, I had a paper route and my family was going on vacation. My supervisor thought I should stay home and came to my house. My mother said "just a second" and then she came back to the door with a cast-iron frying pad and threatened to hurt him ("this is a child! I ought to hit you for even THINKING he should stay home!") Needless to say, I went with the rest of my family.
as a fan of Waters' work since the days of Female Trouble and Polyester, Mink Stole commands every scene she's in. One of the greatest Dreamlanders EVER!

She’s got a mouth for someone who doesn’t use bad language 🤣
She should not have done what she was instructed to do during the phone call from "Mrs. Wilson".
@@fromthehaven94 HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Thomas Lloyd I love this movie too much haha
this is the epitome of a dark comedy. They need to do a remake starrng you Thomas LLoyd, you can play the Prosecution attorney

Mink stole made this scene.
I love how she mouths “fuck you” and hides her mouth!! So damn hilarious!!!!
It’s pure comic gold!!
Hahaha and Dottie "Did you see that? She just FUCK YOU to me!"
I remember when I was so naive to actually think that this was based off of a true story lol 🤣🤣🤣
Treadlightly orelse me too 😂
John Waters sat in many cases and he said Serial mom is a mashup of all of them lol
Don't feel bad....I did too

Mink Stole line delivery is EVERYTHING - She should do voiceover or do audio books. LOVE HER.

No i don’t you B*T&H! Lmao love it
i love it! So you admit you just lied? No I don't you bitch! I slowed the audio speed down and it was so funny
I always thought the only reason Dottie isn’t murdered is because it’s more fun to let her live and torment her.
💯
I can never get enough of this scene lmao
"I can't say the word out loud, I don't use bad language."
kathleen turner playing this role is the reason why i wanted her character to win in the end
This NEVER gets old.
A woman calling another woman a "motherfucker"....that alone makes this movie awesome. Everything else is just extra.
and a cocksucker, don't forget
in Pink Flamingos a woman calls Mink Stole a c**t. Her response is epic!

If they were both nominated for Best Actress, how do you think Turner would have...handled the competition? 😁
“Lousy pig fucker” 😂
Does anyone else love the reaction Beverly gives with the eyebrow and head swerve at 0:33?
WingsTM yes truely it's natural acting just like in real life.
Women usually mock others by using the eyebrows
