I was little and I asked my Mom to take me to the Theatre to see this movie (on a double bill w/ Take The Money And Run). After the movie she said I wasn't allowed to see another Woody Allen movie again.
I don't know which woody allen movies I like more... the early screwball comedies or the later pseudo-philosophical movies... love and death was my favorite b/c it was a mix of both
The Simpsons, Family Guy, South Park,Spaced,Louies C.K. , Spinal Tap etc.... They learned a lot from WOODY ALLEN !!! And "Bananas" is one of the best 5 Allen movie.
I laugh every time I watch this and other great movies like "Sleeper," proof you don't need F bombs and scatalogical humor to be funny. A comedic genius Allen was.
" Officer Daud, Have you had sexual relations with girls with big breasts? YES. How did you find it? Very Errotic." hahahaha How can one not laugh when Woody asks it with such a straight face.
I've never seen a parody of the judicial system done quite like this..ever. I guess comedy is really subjective, I feel as though I actually see what Woody did there.. through his eyes or his view rather.
@rr7firefly That is one of my favorite jokes in ANY MOVIE! It always makes me roar and I wonder what he told the unfortunate-looking actress who he cast for that moment...
Perhaps, if they had treated him as if he was from the Valley & "gagged him with a spoon", the witness would have testified that he was a cross examining, fork tongued, silver spoon witness that was bound to do this judicial gag scene. Marijuana juries with homosexual fruits, nuts & "Bananas"
Everything is so over the top and unfunny. It's slightly funny when he interrogates himself in the witness box. I think this style was done much better by the Naked Gun movies.

I've always liked his earlier, funnier movies.
The part when the stenographer reads back the statement is the best.
"using the word thighs in mixed company" sooo goood!
The Miss America Jump Cuts are brilliant!
This is the best courtroom scene ever!

That beginning part is such an homage to Groucho Marx. The same cadence and everything.
I love you, Woody Allen.

Yavuz Ertem Yes, I don't think "Airplane" would be the movie it was, without this film as a template.
This has got to be the best trial scene ever in the history of Hollywood ; )
This is hilarious because Hoover WAS a cross dresser (and gay), but that was absolutely not known to the public at the time.
OMG I forgot about that scene where he is gagged & questioning the witness. Fricking hilarious!

The part when he made the woman confess while he is bound and gagged was just soooo frigin funny.; She says "don't put words in my mouth"!
LMAO!
I love his old stuff, love it!
using the word "thighs" in mixed company.

He remains, in my opinion "a subversive mother," but a very FUNNY one ! LOL
"Walter, it's for you!"
" Officer Daud, Have you had sexual relations with girls with big breasts? YES.
How did you find it? Very Errotic."
hahahaha How can one not laugh when Woody asks it with such a straight face.
How surreal is this?!
the guy playing the lawyer lived down the street from me when I was a kid- he was a nice guy-

Your name please? J. Edgar Hoover. Amazing.
is the jury smoking WEED?!?
This is the quintessence of humor.
If someone does not like it, there is a Fox Life for them.

Dumb & Dumber is THE funniest movie of the past 50 years.
Everything is so over the top and unfunny. It's slightly funny when he interrogates himself in the witness box. I think this style was done much better by the Naked Gun movies.
Oh boy. I didn't laugh a single time. AGAIN. Woody Allen is so overrated it's a joke.
