- The Heisman trophy in recent years has been dominated by the quarterback position, 12 of the past 14 winners have been quarterbacks, but a non QB will be taking home the award this season. While Dillon Gabriel and Cam Ward are finalist everyone knows this is a two man race between Ashton Jeanty from Boise State and Travis Hunter from Colorado. Both of putting up historic seasons so we make the case for each and choose our picks for this years Heisman trophy.

Gotta go to Jeanty. Hands down the best player in college. He DOMINATED even when the other teams focused on him. Boise would not be conference champs nor in the playoffs without him. The other guy is good, going both ways, but not irreplaceable and definitely not as dominant as Jeanty.

I love Jeanty and have been rooting for him for months cause he has such a big obstacle and behemoth to try and beat the heisman for in travis hunter. I have said that Jeanty is more valuable to the success of boise st but I'm not gonna lie I have definitely wished that Jeanty would win over Trav but I completely understand why he is most likely to win and the dominance he has had on both sides. I truly wish like others mentioned there was co heismans, but its been a great heisman race to watch this year I hope it continues for years to come.

@BrandonsFortune how is that dominating? Smith from Bama was dominating playing WR...Travis numbers is similar to last year on both sides...he just had more catches this year. His yards per catch was EXACTLY the same. He's playing against less talented players than what he would had faced if he had played in the ACC or SEC...he couldn't play like that in the SEC..I give more credit to Deion and the staff than what Travis did. He wasn't dominating...
@BrandonsFortune you can't just look at stats...the only reason why I favor Ashton because his play made a bigger impact and was dominating and they both played against similar level of talent.
I feel Ashton Jeanty should win it, because 1. He's carried his team to a first round by in cfb playoffs, which without him there's no Boise State, Calorado still has Shadur, 2. When Travis played on both sides of the ball against Nebraska they lost by 18, when Ashton played Oregon they only lost by three 3. Ashton Jeanty is way more impactful for his team on offense then Travis Hunter is on both sides, which was proven in the Oregon game.

I was just perusing through the stats, and saw Jeanty put up 3 TDs and 192 yards on the best team in football, the Ducks. I went to see which tough game Colorado played and they just didn't have the competition that BSU had, but I found a game they lost against Kansas. I had to dig down to the 5 spot to find these elite numbers Travis puts up and there I found it, 27 yards. Nothing says Heisman like a 27 yard game loss to an unranked Kansas. Give me Jeanty all day long, also we compare Jeanty to Barry Sanders.. like if he doesn't beat Sanders then Hunter should win.. this makes no sense. If Jeanty is being compared to Sanders for the greatest running back of all time in NCAA history, then we need to stop this charade that Hunter is some how relevant.

If Jeanty wins it better be a package deal O-line included. Something no one is really talking about is how fantastic that line is, not to take away from Jeantys patient running style that allows him to run so efficiently. It's a good competition and can go either way. People can't say Jeanty hasn't played anyone either, dude put up 200 yards against the #1 team in the nation.
With that being said Travis will win due to his dominance on both sides. People will knitpick his stats and make him sound mediocre. His defensive stats are harder to measure because NO ONE THROWS AT HIM! Of course he's not going to lead interceptions, I mean how could you when you don't have any opportunities? Locking down an entire side of the field week in and week out is more impressive than any other DB stats IMO.

The only argument I’ve seen for Hunter is that “we haven’t seen anything like this.” Some say we have, but I agree , there hasn’t been a two way at THIS level. Maybe Champ Bailey. Either way, that isn’t a criteria for winning heisman , when has it ever been? Jenty is the overall more dominant player. Hunter’s impact on both sides isn’t as impactful as Jenty’s lone offensive impact

Any of you people are high, Travis Hunter, hands-down it’s the spirit of the Heisman. He plays speed positions almost every play of the game. There’s no rest for him and he also played at a high-level. We haven’t seen anything like that in the modern era they talk about Charles Woodson. He played a couple of downs on defense, but nothing like Travis Hunter is done we’ve not seen anything like it in many many decades, and likely we will never see it again. If they don’t give it to him, it will be a rip off worse than ordinary people beating raging Bull for the academy award.

I'm a Boise St. fan, yet I think Hunter will win it. Voters like the uniqueness of a two-way player, imo. I was going to say I also don't think the voters value the Mountain West conference as much as the other leagues but I just took a look at the Buffs schedule and I didn't see much there, especially considering the Broncos almost beating Oregon on the road. I'd still pick Jeanty because of his stellar season and the fact his Broncos are in the CFP, but Colorado has had more national media buzz because of Sanders, both sr. and jr, and Hunter the last two years.

The comment about Boise State wins is highly debatable considering no FBS school has more wins since 2000 than Boise State. Boise State has a great football program. Colorado did not
T.Hunt & it ain't even close. Yeah Jenty is putting up unimaginable numbers rushing and any other year he would be a lock for Heisman but Hunter has been able to dominate both sides of the ball. The man doesn't come off the field unless there is a kicker or punter out there. Keep in mind he has the defensive stats he has while the opposing quarterback is trying to not throw the ball on his side of the field.

Give me Travis. Took what Woodson did and put it on steroids. I think the only reason the public is split is because it's Colorado and depending on the fan they don't like Colorado (for whatever reason). But if you flip the player and Coach Prime and Colorado had a Jeanty then the public opinion sways. If we're looking solely at the criteria for Heisman then it's Travis.

Oregon would not be undefeated without Gabriel.
The award should be for the most valuable player on his team. It is debatable if Hunter is even the best or most valuable player at Colorado as it has become just a skill player award with the other 13 or so positions not even considered.
Not sure how Hunter does anything with out a good line or linebackers around him.
He is not the one blocking and makes relatively few tackles which is what really wins football games.
You would think he was single handily beating 30 other people all by himself.
He is able to shut down the opponents top receiver and good for him but does not really excel at anything else Which is what he will probably do in the NFL be an above average corner.
The certainly are better route runners and guys with better hands than him at receiver and definitely done better blockers at the receiver position.
