Paul is definitely in the top 5 greatest guitarists in the world, and also in the top 5 most decent, down to earth, quirky and likeable human beings in the world. I love this guy!
One thing his playing's got that seems unique is, he follows accents in notes, which usually is absent in other rock guitarists, this feature is very important to follow dynamics and phrasing and acents you can hear here but not very common in other's.
this piece of Bach from Paul was always on my to do list. Started late last night, only covered first 15 seconds so far, by that time I was scarified enough about what you explained here. His accents in notes takes a lot of perseverance indeed and on of the most crucial element for any guitar solo.
Loved it enough to buy it. This is really amazing and it's not overstated: I like Bach on guitar this way because it's more "violin-like" and the arpeggios have enough of an "after-image" so that you can hear the counterpoint in a single melody. That is pretty cool. Great dynamics and fun.
That was AWSOME. There are so many licks that can be pulled out of that piece. Bach is pure genius. That is why I have studied his music for the last 3 years.
gotta love PG such a master. And for any inspiring guitar geeks out there ... The lesson to be learned here: Bach - solo violin is amazing for chops. Technically very difficult but , amazing musical pieces to listen to when properly played
It's a Kikusui custom made Fireman by Ibanez. It's basically like his mahogany model with a pickguard, two Air Classics, gold hardware, and the bottle caps of the brand Kikusui is used as his knobs.
Paul Gilbert is really great, I was listening to this song and the next one while I walked to work. Probably I should give up everything and live on air and guitar for once, before I die of age.
Awsome!! and very didatic, easy to learn and he just give us enough info, more than that anybody would be able not even to memorize all the stuff!!! our brain would really explode!!!!booooom
Imagine being able to say 'make this guitar' and people just make it for you. *envy* Also, Paul rules and this album is pretty amazing. If he should ever read this, thankyou Paul!
@jonrivera Turns out THIS fireman is made as a tribute to his favorite drink, 'kikusui sake.' the color and the symbol are from the bottle, and his control knobs are caps from the bottle as well. So yeah, its one-of[f]-a-kind. :-P
a couple things that are really cool about that piece. 1. That is a VERY hard, controlled tempo. So much harder than a full speak shred. 2. Talk about doing things that hard way. That piece was never meant to be done with a pick. Paul is sick.
I think Gilbert would have slayed Macchio in Crossroads
🤣
Man, Fuzz Universe was a masterpiece.
Fuck yeah excellent album
Definetely! My favourite of all his albums
and now as a respond, Bach is covering "Technical Difficulties" from up there \m/
his dynamics during the first pass was ridiculous... amazing
Very true - a few guitarists might muscle right through at the same volume , it's very musical the way Paul plays
Paul is definitely in the top 5 greatest guitarists in the world, and also in the top 5 most decent, down to earth, quirky and likeable human beings in the world. I love this guy!
Only the thousanth time ive watched this. paul is the goku of guitar.
I love how I can hear the scratch each time he picks the string. That compared to the amount of notes coming out of the guitar is just incredible.
"I didn't do the second half, but I think after that peoples brains are going to explode anyways" Paul Gilbert, you sir are legendary!!!
Bach approves of this playing

Bach to Handel: "Do you even shred bro?"
Can we just stop for a moment to discuss his absolutely perfect tone in the first half?
absofuckinlutely
And the second half
He is the best guitarist ever. No question about it

if you want to see the original violin score, search for: bach partita nº2, gigue, 4th movement.
The combination of great technique and emotion is pretty rare
Currently in the process of learning this!! Outstanding piece of work i have to say! Will never be as accurate as Mr Gilbert though!! :)
That was AWSOME. There are so many licks that can be pulled out of that piece.
Bach is pure genius. That is why I have studied his music for the last 3 years.
Dear Paul Gilbert;
Live forever please.
Love, Uncle Geoffro
THAT'S THE SICKEST GUITAR I'VE EVER SEEN!
Jesus, has it been seven years since Fuzz Universe? Dang...
And he still cared for us, he didn't want our brains to explode, how good is him.
I've got to learn this - see you in a couple of years (and it still won't be as smooth and accurate as Paul).
Paul is for guitarists what Michelangelo was for painters. He's such a passionate and articulate musician and with very little to no ego included.
I love how PG always put a classical piece in his albuns, even though he is not and never was not a 'neoclassical' player
Damn that is some tight playing
Let me count the ways I love thee, Paul Gilbert! Yet another great bit of music from The Composer
I've been playing this piece for over a year and still haven't reached his speed....playing on 0.75
