  • I built this because I had pallets and some wood around without purpose.
    I just wanted something to walk on especially in rainy days to not get muddy.
    There is nothing under on purpose because I am not sure I will keep it in that position for long, I may move it around if needed.
    Enjoy and do not forget to "like if you like" and subscribe if you want to :)

    Update: 1.5 years later still holding :P
    Update2: 2 years later still there.

    Very nice. I'm searching for ideas on making a deck and a walkway from pallet wood, so your video is precious.
    Thank you and greetings from Portugal.

    I've learnt my lesson using old pallet wood. You might get 2 years if you're lucky. Once your kids start falling through the floor boards, it's time to rethink your life. Good luck to you

      Hello, In May I will enter in the 4th year and the walkway still holds. But I have treated the wood. And it sits directly on the ground.
      I am planning to turn it over and see how it is underneath but I always knew this is just a temporary thing, created with useless wood for which the alternative was to throw it away or in fire. So even if I will be forced to replace this walkway in near future, I am still satisfied with the results.

    Thanks for showing us that you took the time to do the 'corners' in a methodical way. It seems the other pallet walkway designers/installers here on UA-cam haven't made concessions for the 'bends,' rather they just left gaps between the slats along the outer edge. It was fun to watch you measure out and make the adjustments, especially in time lapse, it gave the impression you could barely keep up with implementing your fast flowing ideas : D

    looks good man! just hate that you didn't put down geotextile topped with gravel to prolong your hard work so wood wouldn't rot so fast but cheers on giving new life to old pallets that would have probably just been burnt in someone's backyard lol

      Hello, Thank you for your comment. Just wanted to have a simple walkway to not get muddy when it rains. I'll most probably move it around so that is why I haven't put anything below.
      Normally pallets wood is treated. I'll see how long it lasts :D

    Beautiful, But...Pressure treated wood in not water resistant. If the platform underneath is in contact with water, it will eventually rot. You should apply a sealer.

    This actually looks like something I can do. I wonder how it would do on a slight slope. I'm going to try it out! Thank you!

    • @zubilitic
      @zubilitic  Рік тому +1

      Hello Leah,
      Yeah, is not that difficult.
      Regarding the slight slope, it depends of what you want to achieve. You can do it in long steps but that would require a bit of extra work or you can follow the slope.
      Good luck and let me know how it goes!

    Hi, it’s been 2 years since you made and constructed the walk path, I’m curious how it’s holding up?

    • @zubilitic
      @zubilitic  6 місяців тому +2

      Hello,
      After two years it's still very usable. I have to replace some planks but 98% is still ok, no problems walking on it. I plan to power wash it, replace the bad planks and retreat the wood. I'll prepare a video too.
      Cheers and thanks for reaching out.

    Nice did you connect the base boards together before putting deck on? and what kind of fastening system did you use? I want to make some of these in 8 foot sections I can move around. I was going to use pressure treated wood and after a couple months pull them up and spray with a wood deck stain to seal and give it a better look

    • @zubilitic
      @zubilitic  6 місяців тому

      Hello, I have not connected the base boards to anything. It is pretty caveman style what I did but it served its purpose so far (3 years) and it still does. if you want to move it around, you may have to put some wood in diagonal position (x or z shape) underneath.
      Thanks for sharing and let me know how it goes ;)

    thought about doing something similar however I would burn the wood to protect the wood. using the Japanese style. also how do you protect against termites

    • @zubilitic
      @zubilitic  Рік тому +1

      Hello Frederick,
      Fortunately we do not have termites here. I have treated the wood against moisture only.

    How long will this last

    • @zubilitic
      @zubilitic  4 місяці тому

      It depends of many variables like how is the weather there (if it rains more often, moisture, etc.) but if you want it to last more, must treat the wood properly and level the ground with gravel because it drains well. Mine is still there, still usable, although I need to replace some boards here and there. I am afraid to check the sleeper boards :)

    • @zubilitic
      @zubilitic  Рік тому

      Hello,
      They lay on the ground unsecured. We do not need this here as the wind is not that strong.
