Honestly surprised more people are mentioning. One of the most beautiful, cinematic dogfights I've ever seen in any format.
Little trick with the waffetrager, it appears to have better gun depression in reverse and you can use the forward gears to fall back quickly into cover between shots.
Not only that you keep the driver and the assistant driver protected and the rear fuel tanks work as armour.
its not that it has better depression in reverse, its just the front has two bumps on it where the front two crew sit that their heads fit into. those two bumps reduce the depression. but if you're off to the side of either of them, or right in the middle of them, you get your full depression.
all that said, reversing over hills keeps the driver and codriver safer, reduces the finnekyness of dealing with those humps entirely, and recently they fixed the transmission in reverse so you can actually pivot and position relatively quickly while backing up. generally something worth overlooking for almost every tank, but for the waffletractor it was a HUGE buff.

I love the Waffenträger. Not because I think it's particularly good, but because it feels so rewarding to get a kill. The way it nearly tips over from recoil after every shot. And how it obliterates when it hits...

I agree with you on that @marceldornier. Even though I haven't unlocked the Waffentrager yet. Seeing Phly ammorack that M41A1 Bulldog goes to show how potent a German 88mm cannon can be especially when it catches a light tank off guard and obliterates it with a single shot straight through the side armor. There's probably as many variants of the Bulldog in War Thunder as the number of Sherman variants in the game lol.

@@lewislaws6770 the firebrand's flaps, while being gigantic and having substantial separation from the wings while deployed, are not parallel to the wing, like the firefly's. This is why i chose the firefly for the biplane comparison

Classic "ground" battles. Both teams rush the spawn instead of the Cap, then there's 5 planes up on one team in 5 minutes because you can bring 30mm cannon CAS with only one kill.
I feel like the low profile and a turret is the reason for it to be at 5.7. Since few players use it, it sits at 5.7.

Best dog fight ever
At 5.7 BR VFW has same gun but with less than half the reload rate of 4 seconds (aced crew) and much much better mobility with Panzer iv chassis. At this point monkeys set BR for vehicles at Gaijin HQ.

Day 75. The 88mm KwK 43. The gun that was made to counter bigger allied guns like the 17-pdr, the Russian 85mm. Did you know the 90mm T15E1 of the T26E4 Super Pershing was built to counter it? Welp, it did counter it on at least two occasions. That’s why Phly should play it.

Damn the sound of them enemy planes sounds SERIOUS....
the waffentrager is a higher br because its one of the few german tanks that isnt the size of a barn with a good gun. its low slung, so it can hide and snipe. since ALL german tanks need to hide and snipe, being smaller gives it an advantage and thusly, a higher win rate.
Waff has smaller profile for better stealth and better turret range, much less limited rotation.

If this thing could go 50km it would be a viable vehicle, but it's lack of hp kills it
pretty much slower then the nashorn worse depression then the emil garbage Armour compared to the jagpanther Germany has much better alternatives
The long 88 is honestly my favorite gun in the game. 1000m/s high pen with APHE. I just wish it was in something fast.

Another great video buddy love your content, but one thing I've noticed when I watch your vids and odds vids, your airplanes turn so well and line up great when I fly planes there slugish to turn and line up sideways as if there off line if you can understand that lol. Am I doing something wrong that my plane after a turn seems like the tail is more to one side instead of straight behind my plane?

Hey Phly, love your content but was always curious of what type of control scheme you do for planes. Are you doing mouse aim + keyboard or just keyboard with mouse for camera? I've been flying for a bit now and only used mouse aim so want to know now before I invest too much more time doing the wrong thing. Thanks man!

Generally turreted tank destroyers are better. also it has -8 and not like -4/-5 like the Nashorn and is way smaller as well (at least when it comes to height). Also the waffenträger is pretty stable on roads if I remember correctly. And I remember that (at least for me) it had a tendency to let russian 122mm shells pass straight through your sides with no spall or damage. I remember hearing 3 or 4 122mm shells hitting me in a row while doing absolutely nothing and just confusing me as nothing happened. I remember being like "what just hit me" and just general confusion because nothing was damaged, especially if you have 10mm of armour and being an open top.
Edit (1): forgot about the camouflage value. It is like 70%.

Fun fact the WaffenTrager in WT was actually made to just move the gun to a field gun position as in once the gun got there it would be removed from the chassis and set up as a field gun
Well yes and no:
Yes it was designed to have the turret come off and be a field gun.
No it wasn't just meant to do that. It was also meant to operate as a regular tank destroyer.
The idea being it would do whichever was better for the situation.
The dude above me is right. Why waste resources on a chassis that is meant purely to transport a gun that is meant to be removed when in use when you can have a truck or a half-track tow the gun itself?
Bit of the old common sense thing, innit. War demands efficiency in all aspects, if the Waffentrager's purpose really is just "Gun transport" then that was a waste of Germany's quickly dwindling resources.
It's higher BR than the Nashorn because it is a smaller, low-profile target (and the Nashorn is MASSIVE) and it has a turret.
Also come on Phly, you knew better than to trust that Tiger. You've been playing long enough to know that your team are just enemies in blue.
