If you go 0.25x on the speed at 23:55, you can see the APS aiming at the incoming arty shell, but Phly moved out of the way, or, the APS was too slow to counter that, ngl that is amazing!

You might have missed a couple of features of the British jaguar. It has thermal vision in the targeting view and it can auto laser targets similar to a helicopter.
It's wonderful to see the British getting some love, a great video that definitely made me think again about getting the Jaguar! Thank you for all your hard work, as always
For whatever reason the NERA in the Challengers is modelled to be worse at stopping kinetic rounds than Rubber, or Rubber and Air layers. Add to that that the Gun mantlet is completely void of internal armour for whatever reason. And supposedly there is a solid titanium block behind the driver's hatch so it shouldnt be anywhere near the level of weakpoint that it is ingame.
Also the Jaguar's laser designatior can lock onto moving vehicles, you dont need to manually lead targets.
Arcording to the leak Chally turret schematic incident, the gun manlet is just 200mm of armour, while that double the current armour, it not gonna change much
not to mention the jags laser pod has thermals, which he never uses

@@Aes880 It actually would, since it would deprive a lot of the spall its "sideways" into the turret. Spall can go through over 30mm in WT (for some reason)

Armour on the challenger is a bit of a touchy subject with warthunder since the serving Brit soldier (tanker) sent them the armour specs which are still restricted, and warthunder stepped away big time due to the trouble it caused or rather could of caused them.
I thought it was related to turret rotation speeds?
@@captainbean3114 It was that amongst other things... But mainly the mantlet protection.
They should buff it anyway. I don't think that would make any problems for them if they do it as with other modern MBTs (so pretty much guessing).
@@captainbean3114 From armour composition effects, to Titanium Driver blocks missing, Turret rotation, Optics and many more where leaked from classified info, so to avoid politics as ananab said, They avoided changing anything.
@@julmdamaslefttoe3559 Also the fact that gaijin made the first stage ammo only 4 rounds when there is a huge rack of projectiles at the back of the turret and a bin full of propellent under the turret ring behind the loader. according to gaijin, they are only there for decoration... the turret rotation speed is only correct with an aced crew, untill then you have to put up with it being slower

At 21:00 ... Between the disappearing shots, the guy that was only shooting his machine guns despite having a fully functional tank, the other guy that ran into him, and the 3rd guy that didn't back up properly; that exchange felt a lot like how War thunder games pop up in my dreams sometimes.

As a British main, I always and I mean always defend and sit held behind hills and whatnot. It’s fun to just absorb shells that can’t go through you when behind something. Challenger is a one tap god also, that 580mm pen is something else for sure and all just goes so well together.

The laser pod on the jaguar has thermals as well which makes it super easy to find and track enemies, also you can lock the laser so you don’t have to do much ;)

Not gonna lie. Combo vids (and even lineup vids) are about 10 time better than single vehicle vids, IMO. So, HELL YEAH!!! I'd love to see more combo videos.

It's well known the Challenger 2s are modelled incorrectly in game. Even the L27A1 round is modelled incorrectly as it's capable of at least 620mm of pen at 2km.
U might need to get some evidence for that and give it to gaijin.
Ps this is a joke.
That is 620mm of pen at 2km 60° LoS. The LoS formula is what NATO uses to translate 60° pen to 0° pen. It's really simple. LoS = L/cos(@). Put in our known values, and you get 620 * cos(60) = 310 (actual penetration). Looking at L27A1 in game, it is 311mm @ 2000m, 60°, therefore, it is accurate.
People seem to forget this
@@Huski3s Rubbish, Challenger 2 can pen more than 564mm. Trust me on that. The sooner they model the entire tank correctly the better!

A lot of people have probably answered this but the relatively week hull of the challenger compared to other tanks and its own turret is due to doctrine. During the cold war it was almost always Britains plan to have its tanks sitting in pre-planned hull down positions where they would only really get shot at in the hull. Not a great idea but at least an idea with some reason.
2:21 yeah i think that's why our hulls are usually so weak against incoming rounds. Because our tanks are in dugout emplacements that protect the hull behind all that dirt
Nope. Challenger waas designed to the same tactics as anyone. NO tank would eat an APFSDS there. Leopard and Abrams won't either. So why bother with extra weight?
@@Retrosicotte So throw the protection on the turret but not the hull? That doesn't make sense, they intend to fight with the hull protected. Why else would you protect the upper half and not the lower half? Why design the upper half to "eat" APFSDS and not the bottom half. If a proven design can stop APFSDS, why omit it if it's about protection? I just think the answer is hull protected and hull down tactics. I mean I'm not an expert, it just doesn't make a lot of sense that weight is the issue in this case to me but I'm open to any information you have.
@@Retrosicotte not really... Challenger are designed slightly different from other mbts, uk made the tank be also a infantry tank (thats why they still use rifled guns for besh. Cos it's very effective against buildings and infantry)

At 18:55 you missed him, the turret moved slightly. The tank was at the bottom and on the right.
the hull is 70mm because every damn time they go into action a combined Chobham/ERA package is fitted to the lower hull! Also to the sides. Gaijin refuses to give the Challies the armour they have in battle.
