Belichick smiles for the first time since the Revolutionary War
Was thinking the same 😭
He is a scary man. "It doesn't matter" - Bill in every post-game interview
The last photographic evidence of such an occurrence.
That's because no one has drop-kicked since then !
Haaaaaa 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣👀
That Doug Flutie dropkick is even more impressive when you consider that was the first successful dropkick since 1941! They used to be more common in the 1920s-1930s when the ball was more rounded like a rugby ball. The design made the ball easier to bounce reliably compared to the modern more pointed design, which is easier to throw compared to the pre-1930s style ball.
It was actually the first successful drop kick since 1974's "The Longest Yard"
I never knew that was legal
Still not that hard to drop kick a modern ball, you make contact as it grounds so the bounce isn't that important.
Maybe if Romo just took the snap and did a Flutie, he wouldn't have looked so stupid.
I didn't know that was even allowed.
Flutie has to be the best one
This man got bill belichick to smile DURING A GAME
And he was aging
You should get THREE POINTS when you hit the post.
@@jonslg240that’s only if you didn’t score a touchdown
Not to mention THEY WERE LOSING THE GAME LOL
He always smiled when he used loopholes they used a whole 4 mins on punting loophole
That Flutie dropkick once won me a trivia night
I asked a question related to this play one night!
@@briansolomight’ve been the same night 😂
We all just gonna forget the shart in the beginning?
Who is the 4th member of the fearsome foursome...LA Rams?
No one I ask ever gets that one without a Google search.
Ocho put his heart and soul into that kick
I'm pretty sure he said his dream was to kick in the nfl idk if he said pat or field goal but dude been ready
I think Ocho also played soccer till high school
Ocho loves soccer. He even tried out for an mls team.
@@Cavachonc777 Passes to Noah, he shoots, he scores!!!
He would’ve hit that from like 40
Chad's looked really good, good form and follow through too.
They did an interview with him and he was actually a kicker in high school and he loved playing soccer as well. He was the definition of a natural athlete. I bet he could hit from 35-40 yards tbh.
If I was the kicker theres no way id let this happen... they're basically sayin anyone can do ur job...id cuss em all out n smack ocho 😂
@@anpr4518he played pro soccer after football (in Mexico
@@GetSoberWithMeyeah you ain't doin that 😂😂
He could play soccer too. Guy was crazy athletic.
“This kid must be some athlete”😂😂😂
This kid must be real scrappy.
@@alexkaplan1136Wes Welker was a great athlete. Clowns like @mrpear8106 don't get it. All pro caliber athletes like Wes Welker and Julian Edelman are treated like they are lucky to be there because of their skin color. They go to New England with real coach and destroy all of the "superior athletes."
@@mr.brenman2132 obviously.
Welker is definitely a gym rat
@@alexkaplan1136lol they missing the joke, but I get it lmao
Justin Reid absolutely annihilated that ball holy shit
He had to make a "real" extra point from 33 yards. Not the old ones that were from 19 yards. Every kid on a jv soccer team can make a 19 yard field goal.
@@12jswilson You know what? It's not as easy as you think. Let's not forget that, even though it was rare, every now and then, even professional place kickers would miss those PATs from time to time. There were only two kickers in the entire history of the NFL who never missed a PAT from that distance, but both of those guys had short careers, so it doesn't really count due to the small sample size.
On a PAT, you're usually lined up directly in the middle of the field goal posts, so that's about as easy as it gets and people still missed them from time to time. Whether it was due to lapse in concentration, hitting the ball wrong, bad hold, etc. is unclear. That said, if you are lined up on the left or right hash, like for a FG instead of a PAT, and you're that close, it becomes a lot more difficult of a kick to make due to the angle you have to kick at. So, it's not that easy sometimes.
He was a kicker in high school
I think he banged a 50 in practice or some shit last year. He can rip it
@@james_ford86regardless, the hash marks are narrower in the nfl than they are in college or high school, so it’s not nearly as difficult of an angle as you’re making it out to be.
Justin Reid looks like he has an awesome leg!
He did kickoff that game too and he did crush it.
It even had a nice little draw to it!
He slammed a kickoff through the opposing uprights too lmao
Justin Reid could legitimately be a kicker in this league with a bit more practice.
I was a freshman in high school during his senior year, he was obviously a phenomenal safety but he was also knocking field goals in from 50 and hitting touchbacks every time
Doug Flutie is a legend. The Ryan Fitzpatrick of his era.
He is also one of four people to get Belichick to smile
I read somewhere that doug flutie has more passing yards than any player ever...not sure if thats true. He was in the CFL and NFL.
@@captngravity between the two he has 56,070 passing yards. His nfl career he has 41k, not even good for top 20. Brady has 89k in the nfl alone
I love that Suh is the only one who missed 😂😂😂😂
Haaaaaa🤣🤣🤣
He probably blamed the holder!
Shocking, because his dick kicking accuracy was on point.
I’m shocked cuz he’s great at stomping on others
@@MI4MENope he was chosen as the backup kicker because of how good he was at it. The coach took the blame saying he should of called a timeout to give him a chance to get ready but Suh owned up and said “I’m ready at all times I just didn’t execute”
Flutie is awesome. Met him twice while vacationing, and he's just a nice guy. Totally ripped, played basketball with some of his football buddies, and was nice to everyone who was hanging out to see. Totally teased my daughter in a funny way.
Wes Welker was his high school team's kicker. They played my home town when I was a kid and he ran, caught, threw, or kicked every point scored in that game.
Wes was a Swiss Army knife
Rare footage of belichick smiling
Justin Reid *BLASTED* that kick tbh 😆😂
Belichick saw Welker make that kick and immediately wanted him and got him 🤣🤣
Justin Reid performed the ensuing kickoff after the extra point and kicked it out the back of the endzone
What was more impressive was Belichick actually smiling after that dropkick
Reed has quite the leg 😅 he cleared the net with ease
I believe in the same game he kicked a kickoff through the uprights
@@bigskygaming5308yuh, he actually respects the hell out of kickers and says that he would like to do more kicking stuff in the future
@@bigskygaming5308he said that on a pat mcafee pod I’m pretty sure
@@jeffmurray7481 wld love to see him be a kicker once he’s done playing safety
@@bigskygaming5308 fr imagine him in his mid to late 30s as a kicker would be crazy fr no position player has ever made the switch
"Coach I can make it, I swear!" 😂😂
That Flutie drop kick is the closest any of us will get to finding a time machine
Another reason why Belichick is the GOAT.
He let Flutie practice and actually try it in a game
Flutie was like the last dropkicker ever thats just history to see it happen right there.
He was retiring
I dont know why an nfl team wouldnt try it in a blowout for shits and giggles
Just think, in some other universe, Belichick washed out of the NFL after his time in Cleveland.
that makes you the goat? ok
Justin Reid played soccer and was the kicker in high school and you can tell by that clean ass field goal
Clearly rusty when you look at his second XP kick, but definitely has the talent to be a legitimate kicker in the league.
hell yeah dutchtown legend
I love that a drop kick from Flutie got a smile out of Bill. He knew exactly what was going on and hated that he loved it.
What a great video! That Flutie one was unexpected!
Walter Payton was a great kicker, field goals, extra points and one punt
When Justin Reid gets done playing safety he might wanna come back as a kicker
Jeff Heath nearly destroyed the upright
Minnesota should have called Chad Johnson last season.
I didn’t know you could drop kick it like a punt on an extra point attempt. That was CRAAAAAZY
It's allowed but hasn't been used much since football design changed to have pointy ends instead of rounded like a rugby ball
Me neither lol ut looks extremely weird
Not only can you do it at an extra point attempt you can do it anywhere on the field at any time.
It's not really like a punt, the ball has to hit the ground first so you kick it on the bounce.
@@Mostlyharmless1985 If you do it during a running play, will it give you 3 points?
Imagine how much different the NFL would be if they required a new kicker each time the team needed to kick the ball. Holy cow would it be interesting.
I'm all for this
It would force teams to practice about 2 hrs each week kicking first round picks would have to know how to kick the ball
Unfortunately it would also add to hip and lumbar issues these guys already experience with each car crash hit.
Reminds me of soccer
Wes n reids was the cleaaaannnnnest. Shouts out to dougie for drop kicking them. I dont think this generation will ever ever see it again.
Not an extra point butnas a rugby fan i always loved the nate ebner onside dropkick attempt. I'm surprised its not more common for onside kicks.
The dropkick was the very last football play of Doug Flutie's career.
I love how Reid was an 84 ovr kicker in madden 23
I respect Madden for giving him a decent kicker rating. He deserves it.
That drop kick meant as much as a ring to Bill
Ocho with the best kick of them all 😂
He loves playing soccer so it makes sense he’d want to give kicking a shot
Drop kick was the best.
Reid’s was the most impressive to me.
Bert Rechichar, an excellent DB for the Baltimore Colts (Two times All Pro), held the NFL record for the longest field goal (56 yards) for 17 years (1953 until Dempsey's 63 yarder in 1970). It was kind a lark, there were just 3 seconds left in the 1st half and the Baltimore coaches knew their field goal kicker couldn't kick it that far, and Rechichar was just a terrific all around athlete.
Flutie was one of the funniest QBs to watch
These guys must feel so special after making it when the whole crowd is with them, and when they miss, they probably realize they should stick to whatever position they usually play.
Poor Suh was the only one who missed. 😂
Suh is a jerk with no regard or respect for the safety and well being of other players
@@philherrick7319I watched him at Nebraska but something changed when he got to the nfl
@@etdgfhgdg
Must have
I don’t know how anyone couldn’t love Chad. He brought so much fun to the game.
Suh with the dounk love it
Yep, he doesn't just kick other players!
Mark Simoneau was my Advanced Weights teacher in high school 😂
😂
Detroit is the only one in the vid that missed it? Shocking!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
They also the only one who had a 300 pound dLineman attempt a kick 💀
Can't have shit in Detroit
man i miss OchoCinco. He got the joy of playing in the nfl.
Maaan did he ever make watching NFL fun. He put the entertain in sports entertainment for sure.
The older i get the more i like and respect Ocho Cinco
Chad’s kick was legit!!
Reid kicking it over the netting. 👍☝️
Justin Reid I'd trust as a backup. No way I'm counting on the others to go 2/3 from 40+. 😂
Now can we have a short about non kickers kicking off
Watching this as a former kicker really makes me low key feel insignificant. 😅
Belicheck such an old school football soul how beautiful to see that smile on the drop kick. 1941 in the house lol
I actually remember that Doug Flutie kick. Wildest ass thing I ever saw.
what’s even more impressive about justin reid is that on the following kickoff he put it thru the uprights
Ocho and Reid's were clean AF. They look like legit kickers.
Nothing makes Belichick smile more than special teams plays. Watch what happens when a reporter asks him about something involving the special teams and he starts glowing.
I’ve literally never seen Bill Belichick react in a positive way to anything on the football field I was actually in shock to see it
The drop kick was wild.
Flutie ftw! CFL legend right there.
Wes Welker in high school recorded 165 extra points made and 35 field goals made. He also had over 3,000 yards rushing, 2,000 yards receiving, over 500 tackles and 22 interceptions.
Love that Flutie dropkick!!
This should be a Pro Bowl event!!
Non kickers ... Trying extra points or field goals
Bellicheck cracks me up. He’s usually so grumpy but someone makes a drop kick field goal… The man knows what he likes. You ever hear him with reporters he’s all scowles and one word answers but if you watch his whole press conferences there are like two Boston reporters he engages in long conversations with and it’s because they basically long ago gave up on actually asking the guy relevant questions about his team or the games they just played but instead ask him obscure historical football topics like, I don’t know the development of the single wing offense over the T formation. You know questions that would have been relevant in the 1920s. MAYBE they can get him to talk about some current player or offensive scheme another team is running he really likes. He’s perfectly willing to have long conversations with those reporters and he’s happy as a clam.
Notice who Welker kicked that field goal against? The Patriots. Bellicheck was like, “Sign that man immediately!”
I love that everyone forgot when Drew Brees tried to do a drop kick in the pro bowl. It was hilarious.
A fully padded and face masked kicker looks pretty funny.
Doug was the AFC special teams player of the week BC of that kick👍
There’s just something about that drop kick that makes this clip extra special ❤
Always find it funny when these announcers are flabbergasted at professional world class athletes being able to kick a ball somewhat good lol
Bill belichick saw Wes Walker kick that field goal against him and thought I have to have him
Same with Ochocinco
@@ajlambrosOchostinko with the Pat's, couldn't figure out the offense, didn't understand the plays
the way Chad amps up that kick til this day is hilarious. he a HoF Kicker let him tell it 🤣
*OCHOCINCO Kicker in Madden goes dummy fr*
The fact that Wes Welker kicked against New England is really funny to me
Chad played like every position when he was younger
Doug Flutie, one hell of a QB; especially in the closing minute of a close game
Doug flutie made a lot of people smile
Fluttie made coach B. Smile….😂
Doug's dropkick was the single greatest special teams play of the last three decades.
You can tell that was a bucket list moment for Belichick
the trick-play into FG was actually big brained!
Chad O'Cinco cheesing! 😀
Bill Belichick smiling like "Man I love my job"
Belichick jizzed his pants watching that drop-kick split the uprights
I remember hearing an interview with a wide receiver talking about how he was training to kick field goals. His reasoning was that once he reached the point in his career where he wasn't fast enough to compete in the NFL, he would try to steal a couple of more seasons in the league as a kicker at the end.
The boys out on the field having a laugh, gambling their game results against putting on a show for the people lol
Flutie Flakes with the dropkick PAT is historical.
Justin Reid actually did the kickoff right after and smashed it.. I was impressed.
Doug Fluties is hands down the coolest. Good look making a drop kick from anywhere.
Seeing bill smile is funny
Every time Belichick smiles, a puppy dies.
Watched both the Dolphins 🐬 Wes Welker kick game against the Pats and the Doug Flutie drop kick game! Good memories! Bill Belichick was very good to those guys. He got them in the record books allowing those kind of plays. I remember when he got Testeverde in the book several times intentionally.
When I was a kid, born in 1940, NFL kickers were also position players, line backer, tackle, something like that. Even Lou Groza, the man the kicking award in the NFL is named for, was a regular lineman most of his career.
Chad Ochocinco sounds like a name from Key & Peele's East-West bowl
A DT taking a field goal is crazy
best part is all the fans being so interested on a field kick/goal 🤣🤣🤣
Justin Reid made a 52 yarder last year. It was awesome.
The drop-kick is iconic
The 49ers fans going crazy for the Dallas kick is great.
85 always open, and always sends it through the uprights
Belichicks smile is terrifying...
