That's what I've been thinking too. I've recently baked 3 loaves of bread and will be making homemade ricotta either this weekend or next. I am just enjoying the process and being slowed down 😊. Even just taking the time to clean and then relax ❤. I am happy that I've found your channel and subscribed. Have a blessed rest of your day/evening!
Your beautiful roses and flowers will last twice as long if you take all of the leaves off of the bottom so that no leaves can touch the water. It is sort of like not letting the soil splash up on your tomato plants, it just seems to cause instant disease and death. Isn't Spring glorious though?
You two are so amazing!!!! I so love to listen to you both! Thank you for sharing your being with us all! You are one Blessed Birthday Hubby! Such a Fantastic Celebration for you all! If you ever open a Bed & Breakfast on The Elliott Homestead I would come visit often! :)
I know this is an older clip however, this is the first time I've seen someone do what I do and I'm so so grateful for seeing it... Posting under my husbands account as I don't have one lol! We were so broke and it put us in such good habits for birthdays, I would cook this elaborate 5, 6 7, 8 20 course meal degustation for my husband and our 3 children, and they're some of the most memorable birthdays. It takes away from 'stuff' and puts love and time in 'stuffs' place. Worth every inch of mess it ultimately makes in our gorgeous kitchen spaces. Thank you for this post.
@@theelliotthomestead Yes mam you are , and thank you from here in South Carolina, it is beautiful how you have incorporated your garden up to your front door. That is something unseen in my area. Thank you and your husband for the great videography of your homestead. Your hard work is highly appreciate! Thank you mam.
Happy Birthday Stuart! It's awesome that you guys embrace faith, family, nature, and work. So many are anxious right now because they will have to be home with spouses and children....and your family is a shining example of how wonderful a home-centric life can be. God bless!
Discovered your channel today.... Now that is poetry on screen......! Classy, beauty and the good life of a homestead.... Bravo! You got a new subscriber....
I'll love all the white you wear while your working hard. I NEVER buy white blouses etc, but I really love to see you wearing it- it's inspiring me to try some from a thrift store, so I'm not so bummed when I get something on it.
Hey, seafood can totally be a French thing! I am Acadian French from South Louisiana, and we eat seafood 95% of the time! I’m not sure how much seafood they eat in France, but I do know that we are French down here and we eat TONS of it! 💖 this was so fun to watch! I wish I could have been there just helping you cook. My husband and I both love cooking, and he is the older cajun generation, which means he is an even better cook than I am 🤣🥰 I love that you showed the end of the night with the huge mess and you all alone in the kitchen, gearing yourself up to tackle it. We entertain friends and family several times a week, and that is the story of my life. Sending love cross country to you and your family
Beautiful living, beautiful meal, beautiful home, and beautiful people! I always love seeing what you do with and in your home. I get such a delight when I see your channel pop up for viewing. You and your family are a delight to behold.
I just started watching your channel. What a blessing for me to see a beautiful family your farm life caring for your animals and growing flowers and vegetables! I love your CC dairy cow. So many people are not having dairy because they think it’s inflammatory. Maybe the dairy they buy at the local store but your raw milk is the best! Please say more about that. People are so afraid of raw milk. They should really be more concerned about all the fake non nutritious nut “milks” sold in the groceries! I’m so happy to have found your channel. You are beautiful and your husband a very special man! God’s blessings. Love and prayers from the Jersey Shore
My mother way back when I was a little kid (50’s snd 60’s +) canned and preserved everything she could get her hands on. My dad hunted meat (mostly deer, elk, bear, fish). I learned a lot. That I loved canned veggies and fruit. Not so much meat. Although I do eat meat. I learned canning and preserving. I’ve learned fermenting. I’ve learned the quality of good organic food put up with love. And one day, I may just learn the love of that dratted deer meat, but not likely). Oh yeah, happy birthday, Stu. My Bob is missing out on a lot of food love. ❤️
My husband is a wild game hunter. Not the deer feeder kind. What I’ve learned about deer meat is that the longer it ages the better. If you haven’t enjoyed it, then it probably wasn’t done right maybe. Haha. I just say that because over time I have watched my hubby process his own animals and they get better each time. There’s a show called Meat Eater on Netflix with Steven Ranella and he had been our inspiration for the whole process. He’s truly using his gift to teach others not just to eat an animal but to learn through nature the act of it all the way through and to honor the hunt and sacrifice it takes to get that animal on our tables. Very humbling. He has two cook books that have amazing recipes for all kinds of animals and teaches you all the way through it. Canning is my adventure this year. I’m 34 and I have four kids. I’m excited to take them on this journey and have memories like yours. Thanks for sharing.
Intentionally Made My dad and his pals hunted every single year that I can remember. My dad built his garage with iron I-beams specifically to hoist up the deer. While I cannot be certain about any way those deer were cut up, it was a group-hunter coordination. Different cuts, burger, etc. I just could never get past the wildness of the flavor. Even though my mother would seriously try to hide it in her cooking. I knew it was there. I know a lot of people who cherish it, love it. I’m not one with the exception of venison jerky. Now that is really tasty.
Nancy Cowan that sounds like a hunters paradise. We still use the tractor to do the hoisting haha. I’ll be honest I’m all about the ground meat. Steaks are tasty but the texture throws me off unless we can make it into venison fingers. A while back my hubby made little fingers out of the heart and my kids tore it up. Didn’t tell them what it was till after. My hubby always says, The only downside to eating heart is that there is only one. ❤️
Gorgeous kitchen! And house! It reminds me of my grandmother's house. She always finds the cutest things at the thrift store to decorate with - things you won't find anywhere else! It's eclectic but oh so homey and comforting.
One of the most special things is to make a beautiful meal for someone. I really do love how your children eat all of it! Happy Birthday Stuart! We are working our way through the pantry and freezer , trying not to run to the shops too much, and taking our lives even slower and more appreciatively. Last night and this morning there was a Great Horned Owl hooting in the trees on our property, 2 deer found a place to cross the busy road (much less busy than it usually is!), and the robins and chickadees and Northern cardinals are singing their spring songs. And as a bonus, though many of our small, local businesses are closed for at least a 2 week period, our local food producers have become the new heroes. Funny that people have to be scared into being healthy. What ever happens, we will have learned to do things differently, appreciated more and give thanks every moment. Be well!
What a wonderful adventure you took us on. I love your quiet, contented sweetness as you take us on your journey. LOVE your home. Please don't apologize or feel bad for what you don't have (a finished kitchen) & be content with what you do have. I am alone & there are sooo many things I need in my kitchen. I started stripping the cupboards & guess what? It's too much...I can't do it. I need to figure out a way to get this done. Anywho, sorry, I'm going on a bit. Much love & respect to you and your family in ALL you do. BLESSINGS!!
What a beautiful family! Had been watching all of your show for a few days now and love, love, all of it. God bless both of you and this is how a family should live. Love gardening too and grow flowers and vegetable too, but not as good as you guys have. It reminds me of my grandparents farm.m
I've watched a few of your videos tonight, and they have all made me cry. Thank you for taking the time to do these videos and showing us all how a family should care for each other and their home. Its the center of society and a woman who cares for her family with love and good food is a treasure to all of us. And a man who is a husband and father that leads and cherish's his wife and family for their good can change the course of history. You are doing more than feeding a family. You are raising children into healthy, loving adults. That is a worthwhile and needful thing. Thanks so much for the encouragement and inspiration as my husband and I raise our boys and start our own homestead. Subscribed!
