16:38..man, ur risking the flatness of the mating surface..it would b best if u use a straight edge, roll the sand paper n just go softly on it.

Yes the thought came to mind. I tried to minimize the risk by using 500 grit but there is always a risk. We will see when it goes in the car :)

Im curious, why did you take the engine that far and not replace piston rings or valve seals? I just started rebuilding own gen4 to prep it for a future mk1.5

For one it would be too much work to tear down to the pistons :) and toyota engines are legendary reliable so I trust it will be fine. I did not want to mess with the valves at the time as I was afraid to mess it up. The only reason I took head off was because an exhaust stud broke during disassembly so I had to remove the head to bring it to a machine shop. Then came these series of events you see in the video

@@Doc_Here Makes sense, thanks for responding so quickly. One other questions I mentioned in another of your videos, which manual did you use for instructions/torque specs? I have the link with all of them but curious which one you used? St205?

Yes that is a fault of my early videos. Even I had trouble editing them. I got a better go pro that has a more advanced stabilization feature which resolves this issue for the most part.
