Great video mate! Great time for me. I'm pretty sure I've had a piece of valve brake off in my cylinder 1 from the damage it left in the spark plug. Can see the side profile of a valve in the end of my spark plug.
"Chris Fix get out of here" hahaha 😂 his great love his videos as well! Great video from you man just found you channel and Love the content for his mr2 owners very much needed. Can you do more step by step videos like Chris your channel will be more amazing Thank you 😊
HI Mike. Do you have any recommendations on finding MR2 parts? I have a 1991 Turbo and am having problems finding things like weather stripping. Like you, I also live in SE Michigan and we all know its not a hot spot for non-American cars. Cheers.
Hey John... Well I'm sure you know about these places. Twosrus , prime performance , ATS racing , mr2 heaven , there are also used parts on the forums. Other than these eBay is the only other option. Hope this helps!
Hey Mike nice video. I have a need to replace a knock sensor for my 1993 MR2 Turbo 2nd gen. Do you have any recommendation on a good knock sensor? OEM Toyota or aftermarket ? Any part numbers would be appreciated. Thanks.
www.atsracing.net/Parts/Details/EL-KNOCKSENSOR Use this one... this knock sensor is a bit stronger than the oem Toyota sensor. And it's less expensive! 😎
Hey mike just a quick question. How much work if any do you do on cleaning up the rest of the head like deburring it to help the oil drain etc or are they good enough as they are? I noticed I have a lot of casting marks in mine and I am not sure if I should work them over to help oil flow. By the way I subbed to your channel and will share it around with a few people with MR2s here in australia.
Hey Clint...thanks bro! Well...you really don't have to worry about casting marks messing with the oil flow...The oil pressure is pretty efficient on a 3SGTE. The only thing I do to the heads I rebuild is give the intake passages a good sanding and slight polish. That's why you seen my dremel tool in the video.
Yes there is... You can feed a small rope down the spark plug hole and fill the cylinder. Then lightly compress the cylinder with the rope in it by hand so it holds the valves up. Some like to use compressed air but I find the rope works much better.
Love the new video Mike, very informative. Looking forward to the leather seat cover installation sometime soon. Keep up the great work!
Hey thanks Ryan!
Best toyota valve train rebuild video ive ever seen. Thank you!
Thanks bro!
Subbed! Rebuilding an engine for the first time. Gen 2 3sgte for my mr2 1990. Love your video and will help me out greatly! Cheers!
Hey Aaron...thanks bro! If you have any questions about your rebuild hit me up!
Keep up the good work. You make the best 3sgte/mr2 videos on UA-cam period.
Thank you bro!

Hey thanks bro! yea...Im trying to put more videos out like this.
ok after watching this I am buying one of those things. I have the old school one like you showed at the beginning
You wont regret buying it!!! Thats for sure!
Removing the springs is old school like when using a deep socket and hammer. What's keeping the valve in place when installing?
The rag under the valve is holding it in place. I mentioned it twice in the video.
Another great video!!

Hey mike do you know if this tool works on a 5th gen 3sgte. A Toyota caldina head?
Yes it does! I have a 4th Gen in one of my mr2s.. it worked perfect.
@@gehringer37 thanks man!
Could you use the correct size socket to install stem seals?
I guess you could... The reason I use an extension so I can see what I'm doing better.
How do you know all this stuff?
Growing up in Detroit I guess! Plus the fact I never had money to take my car in to get it fixed! LOL
Yeah they missed a real opportunity with those valve seals
Whats the farthest customer you have had? Id swear I would easily bring my car to you from Texas.
Hey thanks man...I wish I could help you on your car but I have so many projects going on its crazy!
Is there any way of changing the springs while the head is on?
