Timing is everything when it comes to being a great hitter…
Contrary to popular belief, mechanics make timing harder…
    ...or easier.
By simply understanding the most efficient way to get the bat into the zone…
... we can effectively make timing much MUCH EASIER with proper mechanics!
In today’s video, we break down how we can drastically improve our timing…
... by understanding just one very important mechanic.
We also have an amazing, easy-to-follow drill that will not only make your timing better…
...but also learn how to release the bat with crazy speed!
Thanks for watching and I hope to help you much more with your game in the future!

So what about palm up/palm down on contact?

So Bryce Harper's rotational swing is slow? Hmm I believe his hips move pretty fast along with his up body.

I typically like these videos but this one really doesn't seem right. Yes, you can build more bat speed with your arms, but that doesn't always translate to more power. And getting your arms involved without the dedication of the lower body typically causes a downward swing which is shown in your swing there. No one hits down on the ball anymore, you hit through it on a plane close to the ball travel. Which brings up another point, you are rolling your hands at point of contact. What if you are swinging early? Now you've rolled your hands and taken the bat off the ball's plane of travel and limited your hitting zone. I get you want to get good extension of the bat and release, but this drill seems counterproductive by taking your lower half out of the swing and rolling your hands early. You show Mike Trout at the end, his swing is nothing like you are professing here. Maybe I'm missing something??

Thanks Michael Derr, Pro Speed Baseball is the clearest and best presented instruction on UA-cam! Your videos helped me win a spot on a AAA team full of 10-12 year olds. I'm 9! I used all of what I learned and had a super impressive tryout! Thank you!

All you will get is roll over ground balls. You might do better coaching golf.

I think he’s teaching trying to whip the bat coming out of bat lag. However, it sure seems he’s not staying tight and connected and he’s ultimately casting which is poor mechanics especially for young hitters.

Impact position looks nothing like any major league player. Horrible.

Lengthening levers speeding up the end of the object (bat) while always moving TOWARDS the object your trying to hit (ball). Personally I would say those are all very positive things.

It sounds like it makes sense, until you actually look at major league swings.
