It really saddens me that we don't have a store like this in New York City. Thanks so much for the mini-tour; such a magical place!!! I have never seen a pandeiro like that; very cool innovation!
You're very welcome. Yes - Too bad many of the privately-owned and run music stores are no longer in business. It's nice that people in Tokyo have a place to check out sounds, get lessons, and connect with the drumming community.
We're talking about some specialist stuff, here, to be fair. Ideally, a city like NYC - home of Strand Books - could have a music store like this. However, as you know, most sales of specialist things these days are increasingly handled directly through online vendors.
Thanks, that was awesome.... Please give these stores money, please. There's nothing like being brought to life by so much choice and possibilties as a store like this. There used to be one like this at pike place market, Seattle. Now, its the best tea store ive ever been too! Atleast the replacement was just as inspiring! One day I walked by, and I know the woman could feel my sadness, and she rushed out of the store, just to beg me to return and sit for some tea. She wouldnt even let me pay! Spaces like these hold memories of love and creation. Thanks for this, its good to know these places exist!!!!
Dream and Drool drum shop. You cut the best instruments out !! All the odd weird stuff from Japan. All the stuff you scanned at the end needs another video. Fun stuff !!
The Jumble Jam steel pan is made by Pan Yard, one of the best steel pan online store. FYI, almost all steel pans are costume made and take a while to make. I placed an order for a double second about two years ago that will be finished sometime in May.
Great that you did video in that wonderful shop you are right in wanting to help them stay in business as sadly we lost a very unique shop in England due to pandemic and unsympathetic landlord. It was call Rayman Music shop in Camden . Ray and his wife Manye ran this store and also taught many people including myself how to play on some of the Chinese instruments. A great loss 😭
Kalani, wow that music store of percussion is like wowza soooooooo nice truly enjoyed this small tour of it!!! Wish though they used an antique cash register oh well still it is a great store!!!
I love ayoyotes! Those are the seed pod akle brackets you showed just before you showed the finger symbols. I love Aztec instruments! Are there any other Aztec instruments there? It would be cool if they had huehuetls and teponaztlis.
Kalani, I’d love to hear you play a DII handpan by DII (Dave Beery). His hand pans are amazing, he’s a master tuner/manufacturer for hand pans and steel drums (Lakewood, CA)
Quite stunned with the variety in such a small shop. But at about the middle of the video, I start thinking why nobody sells Chinese drums. You know, Chinese culture all around the world, like food, festivals, calligraphy, etc. But percussion.......Nah....?
Frankly speaking, I expected way more traditional japanese percussion but the ordinary set of brasilian, african etc. which you can find in every percussion shop worldwide.
I've never even played a drum in my life, but being a world music fan, I always enjoy your videos.
Thank you!
I wanna go there soooooo bad! So many instruments! So many cultures! I wanna cry.
Oh man I live in Tokyo and I still haven't been there. Gonna go there soon. Lovely video, mate!
You are such a peaceful man. Thank you for all you do and the hard work that you put into your videos. Love music
I appreciate that!
Awesome store. This video is a good reminder that places like Amazon and Guitar Center are convenient, the little stores have passion for the arts.
Sir Kalani, your work on the Yanni Acropolis live album is phenomenal!! 🔥
"Not for sale" was written in English. They must get a lot foreign customers.
That was dope! I need to take a trip to Tokyo.
Well, it is Tokyo. English (often written amusingly poorly) is used as a kind of written lingua franca, given that Tokyo is a global city.
There are a lot of signs in English in Japan, especially Tokyo.
It really saddens me that we don't have a store like this in New York City. Thanks so much for the mini-tour; such a magical place!!! I have never seen a pandeiro like that; very cool innovation!

Left hand pandeiro huh!? (right hand marcha ;-) )
it saddens me that there is no world percussion centre in wicklow
