WOW! That tank drum at 4:20 is magical. I'm a musician but never heard this instrument before, it's beautiful!

7:55 Ayoyotes! I love this instrument! The Aztecs had this seed pod ankle bracelet instrument that they called ayoyotes! Ooh and the wood block and tongue drum is similar to the Aztec instrument called a teponaztli (which is a tongue/slit drum)!

I love the rain stick. I bought two in Florida but gave them away as gifts to friends.

That tongue drum sounds lovely. You should do a proper improv with it one of these days.

Probably not your target demographic but as an amateur producer (that... well attempts to do his own sound design rather than relying on samples.) this was super helpful too! I mean snares, toms, hihas, claps, cymbals and crashes are fun and all, but there is so much more in the world of percussion ^^. And to get authenticity in synthesis you also have to consider the stuff you mention roughly around 5:00 to about 7:00.
    So thank you for sharing!
Edit: I love that you mention things like: and of course we all know & love... or something in that nature, and then proceed to show me something I never have seen before. But I have to say, it is amazing what different weird creative ways people came up with over the centuries to produce air pressure fluctuations that we would recognise as "musical". 😊

Really lovely instruments. Love percussion and all of the sounds, something we are encouraged to learn at school to fire the imagination. Love that one you made. I got into all of this when my dad had a couple of Latin albums Los Machucambos and Dorita Y Pepe, with bongos, maracas, shakers, guitars, just great effects. Love your videos. Not many talk about the vibraslap.
