If you know any steel drum tuner, making these aren't that hard, expensive or time consuming. If you make the base yourself and then pay them to tune it for you. There are of course the steel tank version, that most people can make themselves. But even if you go for making the big handpan, I’ve seen people make them by just hammering a flat piece of steel into a concave shape, and then tune it. And these hold their tuning. So you just need the get the tuning right one time. Here's a example of how they are made https:ua-cam.com/video/IkWKJaZ2z7c/v-deo.html
@@hudsonwight7198 Actually, I have not heard of guitar pedals. Is that the device guitar and bass players use for tuning purposes? If it is, I have seen them. That is a nice gadget to have!
I would guess they did Lichtenberg art to get the patterns, then scanned them into a computer and laser-etched the graphics into the wood. Lichtenberg figures in wood are pretty hard to do consistently, and if that's what they were actually doing, I'd expect a lot of scrapped drum shells from burning too deep into the wood or just not looking very good.
@@scorinth I'm seeing a lot of varied depth/pattern. That depth variance alone means an awful lot of passes. I doubt they're taking 3-4 hours for a machine to engrave what a guy with a car battery and some jumper cables could do in 20 minutes.
The bongos are not lazer , its called the Lichtenberg effect they run electricity true the wood on each side so this unique formatios are formed naturally for the capilar shape of the wood
That's not laser etching on Tom's, it's where the wood is charged with electricity and it arcs to create the tree like pattern. I've a tongue drum made from two gas cylinders. 13 note top and bottom in c# beautiful sound. That's how the round ones are made. Gas bottles :)
The technique thr bassist was using is called slapping, where you hit the string with the bass of your thumb. I'm sure he was using a bunch of other percussive techniques that I don't know about so he was indeed a percussionist in that moment on bass
Man, I enjoy your videos and vibe. You should team up with a technical person who can isolate those sounds better - I have no idea what those crazy maracas sound like. Thanks and Be Cool.
Holy moly. Anything like this in around europe? I'm a fanatic percussionist and I basically play rhytms on anything and this kinda event would be my dream-go-to! Any tips taken, I am living in Finland so anything nearby (Sweden, Norway, Estonia, Russia) I would love to know any info!
I've got some freedrum sticks. Definitely a great buy, and worth the money and wait time. They take a really really long time to get used to, but once you've gotten some experience with them, you'll never set them down.

I wish space drums didn't cost so much, they sound amazing.
Danny White just so you know, if you look for one, they are usually called "hang" that's the native name for them (my djèmbe teacher plays hang)
sjeggy6 Hang is a registered trademark from PanArt however, the generic name for this type of instrument apparently is “handpan”.
