    This method had my hair popping and growing fast as h*ll during the Summertime. No lies.

    I love the Dickey method! It really works with gels like UFD Curly Magic, CRN Curl Maker and Kinky Curly. For me, those gels work best on soaking wet hair that I can only obtain in the shower. I find that though I do use a lot of conditioner, I actually use less gel, because of all of the water that's on my hair.

      What type of conditioner do you use?

  • @lorriet2922

    I would suggest next time to leave out the leave in conditioner. I would use a lot of cheap conditioner, rinse it out then use gel on wet hair. To see if you would have a better result. That is what I do and I love the results.

    Memories ❤️ this was my very first wash n go after my big chop! I’ve modified it since then:
    1. I detangle with tools in large sections.
    2. I don’t overuse my products, but I use enough-water is key.
    3. I use a gel, usually botanical (flaxseed, aloe, or xanthan gum) because they spread easily on soaking wet hair.
    4. I rake in my stylers in medium sections. I still do the shake, it’s EVERYTHING.
    5. Sometimes I start with ACV.
    My current routine takes me 45 min. total (cowash + detangle + defining). It was 30 min when my hair was shorter. I do this every 2-3 days and clarify/DC on the weekends.
    This method taught me a lot about my hair and how long it holds moisture. How simple doing my hair could be throughout the week, what it takes to get my curls to pop. My hair and scalp thrives off of water.

      Thank you 😊 I hope it works out. If not, try xanthan or guar gum. They’re more customizable imo.

    A good way to save product and reach the roots better is to work in sections. I work in four sections and work product in from ends to roots, squeezing in on wet hair. I also saw a good tip to hold the ends of your hair to your roots and squeeze to help distribute the product throughout your strands.

    • @rionell412

      4 sections?! I'm jealous. With my hair density I need at least 6 sections or my hair just laughs. I prefer 8 sections though but sometimes I get lazy and stick with 6 😂😂😂

    Your hair looks good! And I love a good time saving method!! I think this could work well for certain lifestyles & certain times of year. I would make efforts to use cheaper products if doing this. I could see myself using Suave Tropical Coconut Conditioner and my Eco Style Gel of choice for this method in the summer. I can use the Suave as a detangler, deep conditioner, and a leave in and then slather on gel for hold. Then when I want to shampoo or just rinse & deep condition in a few days (FL resident here!) I'm not upset about rinsing it all away. I also find detangling is so much easier when I'm doing it 2-3x a week vs once a week or once every 10 days.

    Your hair looks nice. It didn’t look dull on my screen. My fav “styler” for his method was Shea moisture JBCO leave in conditioner but I really could use any conditioner. The product didn’t matter because the method calls for frequent styling. Adding gel just felt unnecessary and it wouldn’t hold my curl any longer. Anyway, I’ve moved on from frequent styling with leave in conditioners to just using gel only as a styler once a week but his method really helped me learn how to style my hair.

  • @lealeaj1096

    It came out pretty good, but I hear you...I would feel like I'm wasting product too.
    Also, yes! Just this month I started back using a wide tooth comb to detangle my hair at least once a month, cause I was noticing that I too was getting random knots/dreads, in my hair, with just finger detangling. So far my hair is doing alot better, so I'll stick with it for now.
    Great video😊

    • @rionell412
      @rionell412 4 роки тому

      I stopped strictly finger detangling after 6 months (I commit when I commit lol) because I was getting so many dreads due to not removing shed hair thoroughly enough. Out came the detangling tools in combination with finger detangling

    You need to try the Dicky method with Camille Rose Curl Maker and Mielle leave in conditioner and soaking wet hair when using all the products and yes lots of product in terms of whats enough for your hair, some people put too much, but his method works for me. Also the curl maker may make your hair crunchy but you could add oil. I personally like it somewhat stiff for the first 2 days because it last longer because as the days go by the hair gets bigger especially in the summer time, by the 3rd or 4th day my hair looks like yours which ids great.

  • @rionell412
    @rionell412 4 роки тому +3

    I use a brush (knockoff EZ detangler) when deep conditioner is in my hair after shampooing. But once I rinse I move to fingers to apply leave in and styler on my hair while soaking wet

  • @ttemfash

    I love Dickeys method with modifications. I don't cleanse as often as suggested ( unless it's the summer) I don't think the method is about the products perse for me it's more about consistency and technique. I use (no leave ins) botanical gels i.e kinky curly curling custard and UFD and I definitely use a detangling tool and clarify regularly. Great video as always👍🤗

    I didn't realize it but I am doing some of these steps like shaking your hair and applying rinse out conditioner generously but not nearly as much lol. I use a little product at a time and section my hair to finger detangle my hair. Your hair looks amazing though and I can't believe you didn't get flaking as far as I can tell. Great job!

  • @KimLarae366

    This method works but you are right you use up a lot of product fast. This method is meant to be done every 2-3 days so that is a lot of product. This is the only method that works for my 4a-c type hair by preventing excess shedding and my ends don't knot up as much. I use a denman brush while in the shower for extra definition and smoothing the roots.

    I attempted to do a wash and go in the shower and it's always a fail. Hair be so wet you don't know how much product you are actually using and a lot of product goes down the drain.

    • @FoAdunni
      @FoAdunni 4 роки тому +3

      @@naturalcurls4life576 In order for me to get a good wash n go my hair needs to be completely clean for the gel to adhere. A cowash would leave behind gunk. It works best for me to shampoo once or twice a week (I have an extremely gentle shampoo if I want to wash twice).

    Try this method but don't rinse out the conditoner it's a game changer you won't need a leave in or gel. It takes about 20 minutes under a overhead dryer for me to dry but since your hair is longer than mine maybe 40 for you.
