There’s been a lot of talk around this mafex Thor and it’s size or lack there of, let’s talk about it

That was an excellent review. I think anywhere between 6.0 and 7.0 is a fair score. Like a lot of other collectors, I’ve had Mafex on a pedestal for a few years now, so I’ve had a hard time admitting to myself that this one falls a bit short…literally. At the same time, there’s enough good things going on here that I don’t regret buying it. It’s just not the “I’ll never need another classic Thor” feeling that I’ve gotten from most other recent Mafex releases.

Thanks for the review. Very fair. Was considering getting this based on promotional images. Looked pretty good. I've been having this horrible problem where I let my expectations get me all hyped, and upon receiving a figure being disappointed. If I had nothing else but this for display I might still get it, but as a companion piece it wouldn't work for what I want. Weird when you expect a figure to be amazing and it turns out to be disappointing, and another figure to be complete garbage and it turns out to be a hidden gem.
right after releasing magneto and steel this feels even worst than it actually would be, worst than that they just raised the prices of the new figures, john wick is $120 and for a mafex that's just to much and thinking that it could turn out like this just keeps me from buying these more and more
the sticking knee and elbow is just extra flashing, ive had that on almost any mafex ive gotten😂

also truforce megaman is mostly made of metal but its only 80 bucks so im not seeing why extra arms with the cheap plastic that mafex uses is $20 extra
John wick is 74 bucks, I recommend you don’t buy domestic and also it comes with a metric ton of accessories and the knee sticking is new to me, literally the first time I encountered it

This thor is like what happen in the venom figure, everything is ok except the height of the figure.
I still don’t mind the size but I agree with the other cons personally I do love this Thor
I really want a modern Thor with the chainmail arms and hopefully the right size. I had the same problem with Venom I still think he’s too small, carnage shouldn’t be taller than him
The knee thing I don’t it’s weird because it’s only been happening recently like two of my mafex figures have it my night wing, and my x force wolverine
Since I mix and match my Mafex Figures with marvel legends, I was thinking of displaying this particular Thor with my Marvel legends avengers, but after seeing how short he looks in the review, I’m going to pass, quite a shame. I was looking forward to purchasing this Mafex Thor.
The thing about Mafex is, they make these figs to fit in with the others in the same set, not all the other Mafex figs.

Lol the only way they’ll listen is if no one bought them, meaning the retailers
@@KitbashCustomsa lot of ppl forget this part of the equation cause it’s not like we’re buying this straight from Mafex. The figures have already been purchased and the only one losing money right away is retailer and maybe Mafex if the retailers decide to no longer buy as much the next time around
This figure is based on his 60s appearance when Jack Kirby drew him at the same hgt as Ironman and Cap who are both 6'2. If you do the drop-down leg feature, he is a tad taller. I do agree on the hair being softer as it limits the head articulation. I'm sure Mafex has heard the "it's too small" complaints and will come out with a 70s-80s classic version that is hgt accurate. His belt doesn't make him stronger, it's a different belt that he's hardly ever used.
Mafex approach to the Marvel figures seems to be a grab bag of referenced. Spider-man gives me really 90s Bagley/McFarlane vibes. Venom is kinda appropriate to his first appearance but I always imagine him with his late 90s and on bulk and extra size. Early Thor is about the same height as everyone else where as Modern Thor looks like he's pushing 7ft. I appreciate Mafex is going super classic with Thor and Iron Man but its not really for me.
That seems to be what they’re doing, I don’t mind it as much but like you said, my thoughts are on the more modern looks and sizes. I’d nice if they spun the block and made some modern versions

You nailed it from the start, this is early Marvel Thor, the whole design of figure & box art prove that.
Thor is 6’6” & Iron Man is 6’5” so they scale well together.
Steel is 6’7” so yep..he’s bigger ;)
The hair issue is a factor on every long hair character, it impedes movement & no one has solved that.
The only issue is that torso gap but overall..Good not Great figure.

I don't think he should be as tall as Steel but he is definitely shorter than he should.
He is supposed to be the classic Thor so he isn't that taller than Iron Man.
The actual problems I see on the figure are the proportions, his legs should be a bit bulkier and his head should be a bit smaller.
Too small 100%.
