So I got this pc based on your review (rtx 4080) I upgrade the psu to 1000w and gpu to 4090, upgraded the bios and everything works so much faster, I wanted to buy the 4090 version but it wasnt available, the cable management and part for the lenovo are the best prebuilt I have seen, btw the AIO had an issue, they changed it for me free... tbh lenovo is now my fav pc

Lenovo did a lot better with this one. Great seeing a much beefier build by them here. Thank you for making us aware about the price hike also. Hopefully they bring that back down in a few weeks.
I will be purchasing a 4090 in a week so these videos about SI builds and the reviews help me figure out what to expect when pairing it with other hardware in various builds. Lets me figure out more about what I may need to change out in my own. Always appreciate these down-to-the-point reviews you do and showing what matters. Good stuff man.

I have this exact model. It was awesome for the first three weeks I owned it then one day while playing Cyberpunk it randomly crashed the whole PC to a black screen. After that it wouldn't run any games or any GPU benchmark software without crashing within a couple minutes of playing. It would run CPU benchmark software just fine. I called Lenovo support and was given a replacement which took nearly 2 months to be delivered. I just received it yesterday. So far the replacement seems OK. Great review BTW!

I had the same issue with my system. The problem would only present itself when gaming. The system would just shut down, (NO BSOD) and I would have to unplug and replug to restart the system. I also had an issue with the system not being able to I tried to have the system replaced one day after my 30 days but I spent a considerable amount of time troubleshooting the RAM speed issue and after providing all my data and how to correct this Lenovo credited me for the extra 32GB of RAM I purchased with the system. The credit was the reason Lenovo would not replace the system. Instead, after considerable back and forth and troubleshooting by me Lenovo agreed to send a tech to my home to replace the Mother Board, Power Supply, RTX 4090, and CPU liquid cooler. I think it might have been cheaper to replace the system. The system seems to be working now though I did have two shutdowns that seem to be linked to a Lenovo driver issue per the event log. I updated two items using Intel's driver update checker and everything seems ok now. As for the memory the Z790 motherboard will not run four RAM DIMMs at full speed. You can only use two DIMMs with the Lenovo BIOS update which added RAM boost to get the full 5600 Mhz RAM speed. To get 64GB of RAM you need to use two 32GB DIMMs in slots 2 and 4 with the updated BIOS and boost selected. I am glad to hear your replacement system in working. Unfortunately, due to replacing almost the entire system I will never know what the issue was.

    • @petersonfamily6223
      @petersonfamily6223 Рік тому

I am not postive if this system will support 128GB of RAM and I would recommend contacting Lenovo directly to confirm. Normally you would install four 32GB DIMMs to get 128GB of RAM. If the system is able to support 128GB of RAM be aware that using all four RAM slots will result in reduced RAM speed due to the restrictions of the Z790 motherboard. @@melodystar5019

The problem with the HP 45L is that there is not a single PCIe slot available. The Legion provides both a PCIEx16 for a full size card and a PCIEx1 for small cards. With the Legion I was able to add a 10GB Ethernet adapter instead of being stuck with a 1 GB Ethernet port on the HP 45L computer.
The HP 45L has a brilliant case design which is why it allows the components to run cooler but a mini-ATX motherboard is used that does not fill the case and so could have provided PCIe slots. The big negatives with the Lenovo Legion are no provision for lifting it and no way to turn off the very bright case and logo lights (which can be done with the 45L). In the end I decided to buy neither tower and will wait for new offerings.
GPU heat is a problem with the 4090 that draws 450 Watts as compared to the RTX 4080 at 320 Watts. In terms of price performance the 4090 costs 33% more to gain 15% better performance.

Update- I received the Lenovo on Thursday. Setup was a brease, and it is awesome. I ended up increasing the ram to 64GB Corsair Vengence RGB DDR5 5600mhz and added an additional 1TB SSD (Mobo has heat sinks for additional SSDs, and 2 slots are readily available above and below GPU).
Changing the ram speed settings was no issue (have to reboot up in safe mode from settings to access advanced bios)
Total cost before taxes 2940$ which is a hell of a deal for:
    4090 GPU
    2tb M.2 Gen 4 SSD
I9 13900 CPU with a massive RGB AIO
    1200W PSU
Runs quiet and temps are stable.
Playing Cyberpunk Phantom Liberty at an average of 100FPS at 4k on my LG Oled.
    This PC does not dissapoint!

The CORSAIR case contained mainly CORSAIR components, PSU, AIO, Fans, etc. I was surprised that most components were not precisely their top-of-the-line products. For a nearly $5,000 price, I expected their best. No keyboard or mouse was a true letdown, though I already have their best ones. Great and informative review! I had been considering getting the Alienware R15 but based on this review and a 25% sale Justin linked above, I just ordered the 4090 64GB RAM 2TB M2 SSD version for $3,000 which appeared to beat by a very wide margin the price of any other similarly equipped PC at this time. With Rakuten rebate and an additional 1 year warranty, the total cost was $2850 before tax. The system is scheduled to arrive next week. I will need to increase the storage and potentially replace the RAM to address the speed issue mentioned in the review. For the additional storage, the review mentioned there are three available M.2 slots. What requirements for M.2 drives are there, if any, for compatibility with this system? It sounds like the system includes heat sinks, so an added M.2 drive would not need a heat sink? Will any size of M.2 SSD up to 8TB be compatible? For the RAM replacement , can you achieve the 5600 speed with 2 stick of 32GB RAM (for a total of 64GB)? Thanks in advance for anyone who knows the answers to these questions.

Actually, the radiator is in the CORRECT spot as it SHOULD be in front drawing in air. What they have done wrong is have the pipes on the top of the case, the radiator needs to be turned the other way, as it's going to get clogged with bubbles long term. What a shame.
But while you are acting all surprised about the radiator being in front, did a light bulb go off and you realised the correlation between the much better CPU temps on this vs other pre builds? That's the reason.

Thanks for the video. The 4090 towers are now back in stock but the config are different tho. It only comes with 32GB and 1TB of storage. This is actually my preferred config for $240 less in price. It's listed at $3,780 but I was able to get it for $3,311 instead. 3 yrs of Ultimate Support warranty was only $64 more so why not. I would say for this price it's worth it.
Before this I was set on building a custom one but honestly I still have my doubts. This Legion 7i Tower Gen 8 looks nice but a custom similar build 4090 FE (which I already secured) would cost me just a little more (around $3,700), less if I went with a 7800X3D for around $3,400. I think I would be more happy at the end as well. I still have time to cancel my order tho but I will decide later this week to do so or not. My item isn't shopping until early next month anyways.

Agreed, getting 64GB of RAM is a waste as you will never be able to run it at the reported 5600 MHz speed as purchased. You can only get the 5600 MHz RAM speed using two DIMMs in slots 2 and 4. After receiving a refund for the extra memory, Rakuten rebate, Military discount I only paid $2800 for the 64GB, 2 TB, RTX 4090 configurationI was not able to build the same system for less. I added the four year full warranty for less than a $100. The price fluctuates quite a bit with discounts you can get the system for less if you keep checking. The Lenovo system was cheaper than any other system I looked at. It is quite, cool, but is not as fast as some of the other systems but it is still fast enough to run everything now. I did have some issue but I believe have been corrected under warranty.

I think desktop cases and motherboards need to drop all those USB type A ports and just give us the Type C ports. we really need to start the long slow kill of Type A and one way is to stop giving us 10 Type A ports while 2-4 USB Type C ports. My desktop has 2 Type C to like 8 Type A. I only need 2 Type A for my keyboard and mouse.

The only two devices that I have connected is my keyboard and mouse dongle. Actually I could just use a USB type C cable to USB type C for my keyboard tbh and use Bluetooth for my mouse if I really wanted to. You have legacy devices? Get a dongle. We need to kill Type A or you're just going to keep it here forever because people are too afraid to look forward.
Mice, keyboard, printers can be or is wireless these days. The only two things you must need to connect to your computer is a screen and the Power cable. And only one if it's a laptop.
Laptops can have zero USB type A and you all have died yet because of the lack of Type A ports so desktops are the same.

HELP!!!😁. I’m ready to pull the trigger on the HP45L with the 4090 graphics card but the system only comes with an 800w power supply. Everything I’ve read, says the minimum requirements for that video card is at least an 850 W power supply. What are your thoughts? I don’t want to upgrade my power supply as soon as I pull it out of the box.

Hey @mikes6301 while yes 850watt is ideal, you can see in my 4k tests that my average FPS across all games for the new 45L was only 7fps lower than the top 4K PC (the i8100) ($1400 more). I don't think you'll notice the tiny performance difference from not having the full 850w. But you will certainly feel the difference in your wallet though. If this information or video helped your decision at all please remember the best way to say thank you is to use our link! For some reason other versions of this desktop come with no display ports or an hdmi cable, for example the 4070 ti with intel on the lenovo website does not come with any dp's or hdmi ports. Would a usb to dp cable work?
