Looking at this or a NZXT Streaming around the same price for my son's first gaming PC. The NZXT has the same GPU but lower tier CPU, fewer fans,, better PSU, H510 case with the solid front no mesh, BIOS is XMP, overall runs warmer based on other reviews. Go Lenovo and upgrade PSU or NZXT and upgrade CPU?
i'd suggest you go with the custom-build route instead, it'll be a fun activity for you and your son. if you don't like that, i suggest you go with the nzxt streaming plus - the one with 5700x and 3070. looks like this specific lenovo pre-built is back at 1399 pricing per his link in the description box. going with the nzxt one will get you a better GPU and the 5800 vs 5700x will just perform the same with the advantage for 5700x having the PBO in BIOS if you're into that overclocking stuff.
@@torii_101 Thanks for the reply. Not ready to build one just yet. I lucked into a good deal on a Legion with a i7 12700 and rtx 3070 so I have one of those on the way now. Great video. I do have a question. I want to add an AIO cpu cooler. How do I remove the top mesh on the pc. Can't seem to figure it out. Have you taken a look?
I can confirm, mine came with a Lenovo motherboard which doesn’t look the best but performance is great nonetheless. If you want to upgrade, all parts are easily reusable in another mobo, but no upgrade needed if you’re fine with ultra settings 75-100fps on pretty much any game
Thank you for the review. May I ask if the PSU in the Lenovo Tower 5i is upgradable? I recently purchased a Tower 5i with i7-13700f and RTX 4070, which comes with a 500W PSU. However, I’m concerned that this wattage might not be sufficient for my configuration. If possible, I would like to replace it with a 750W PSU.
Me too. Same problem. The Lenovo onsite tech had a look and said the PSU is very small and the space allocation in the case limits what it can be replaced with and i might need an STX PSU to replace (not an ATX). The power connector on the MOBO is 24 pin though. The current 500W (too low for the GPU) is a cheap Chinese brand. Coolermaster have some good STX PSU's. I'll let you know how i get on if you want.
I have this exact computer. I wanted to upgrade my monitor. I am currently using the Lenovo G24-20 23.8" Fhd Gaming Monitor. I wanted to go bigger display and better performance. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Also only looking to spend no more than $250.
I want to put a second SSD in it. It says in the specs that there are two slots. (i got the 3070 version). But I can't find it anywhere? Anyone know this?
As someone who owns a t5 (older model though), look up lenovo t5 crash action suit. There was incompatibility with someone of the parts, enough that they're getting sued since the pc crashes at least once a day. Maybe they've fixed it for newer models, maybe they haven't. Either way, it's not worth the attempt at that price.

i know i am almost an year late but tldr what i lvoe about Lenovo Legion oem builds you can: change cpu cooler and case fans because Lenovo is not using properitary 5-6 pin fan connectors (like Dell and HP) - change your PSU - because their mobos are using standard 24 and 4-8 pin connectors - ignoring cpu support with bios updates... you really can stick wtih those machines for a bit of time and not miss anything really
Users beware, purchased a legion 5 and worked great until the mobo fried about 1.5-2 years after buying it. Purchased a new mobo and cpu cooler (and case I guess) and used the rest of the parts in my “new” build.
I have this PC that came with 3070 and Lenovo tech told me I cannot upgrade the GPU for something in the 40 series, like the 4070 for example. Is that true?
Be careful when purchasing this Tower 5. The MB is as barebones as it gets, the BIOS are embarrassingly bare and you have almost no options to change anything compared to other motherboards. If you upgrade your ram, there is no option in the bios to change the ram speed. Very disappointing. Good performance but a pretty locked down system just based on how Lenovo Built it.
I bought this, for 699$ and I must say, IT IS AMAZING. for what i got at my price it was the biggest bang for my buck. (im playing roblox with this lol)
Mine came with McAfee and a bunch of Microsoft stuff like OneDrive and 365 etc. I wouldn't have minded that at all but my PC also happened to be DOA and would BSOD after I exited out of games. My T5 26AMR5 arrived DOA last night. Had some kind of BIOS error in Event Viewer and my PC would BSOD after I closed out of any game. Going to get it refunded/replaced. Shame, because the games actually ran really smoothly but there's something very, very wrong with the PC internally to be causing all these issues.
Always get a refund if you can, then rebuy, that way you get the refund period again, if you get a replacement then it's still ticking down while they mess around.
Glad yours bricked when you got it. This line of PCs from lenovo is known to brick after 3-12 months due to bios issues. These typically appear after windows updates for some reason. The newer bios update fixes it, but it is a nightmare trying to get the pc to boot back into windows so you can download the new software. Took Lenovo like a year or two to release a bios for it that fixes the issues. They were repairing these by swapping the mobo and downloading an unreleased “experimental” bios for warrantys
I got one when I saw it on sale. Immensely pleased with it. Playing Forza Horizon 5 on the highest settings without fiddling with making a custom PC-exactly what I was hoping for
I saw this thing on Amazon as I was shopping for parts to build a new work PC. So now I’m here trying to find out if there’s a catch because I basically had all the same parts picked out (actually a worse CPU, Ryzen 7600) and it was gonna cost me $1200

My biggest complaint is the absolute joke of a motherboard IO. They already offer MSI GPU's on the lenovo website, I wish they would offer a standard B650/E MSI board, or even just build their own to a decent B650/E spec.
These often come with a Lenovo m/b that has some bios limitations watch out when upgrading memory as it may not be able to run at its best speed. 😉
I saw another video saying the same thing. The person in the video said that could be fixed with a new motherbroad
I can confirm, mine came with a Lenovo motherboard which doesn’t look the best but performance is great nonetheless. If you want to upgrade, all parts are easily reusable in another mobo, but no upgrade needed if you’re fine with ultra settings 75-100fps on pretty much any game
Oh and I’ll also add that mine came with 32GB of 3200mhz, and it seems to be utilizing most of the speed

However, I’m concerned that this wattage might not be sufficient for my configuration. If possible, I would like to replace it with a 750W PSU.
Me too. Same problem. The Lenovo onsite tech had a look and said the PSU is very small and the space allocation in the case limits what it can be replaced with and i might need an STX PSU to replace (not an ATX). i know i am almost an year late but tldr
what i lvoe about Lenovo Legion oem builds
you can:
change cpu cooler and case fans because Lenovo is not using properitary 5-6 pin fan connectors (like Dell and HP)
- change your PSU - because their mobos are using standard 24 and 4-8 pin connectors
- ignoring cpu support with bios updates... you really can stick wtih those machines for a bit of time and not miss anything really
Anyone play COD warzone on it? how does it function?
Functions just fine.
