Thank-you Justin for yet another great video. As always your presentation is stellar. A more detailed presentation would seem like a good idea but I'm afraid all of the plugins are so deep that it's no longer possible. I just completed an hour long training session today on the new stemwall step feature and there was barely enough time to cover all of the details and parameters just with that tool alone. Thank-you for your exceptional work and what you do for the SketchUp community as a whole.

I'm not doing any building models lately (been a long while actually) but I like to keep aloft (curve-aloft!) :-D of what's going on and to try and keep inspired, so thanks for that too Jason.

I actually start to wonder how many ppl would find this useful too. From my research, I do see quite a few architectural study courses using SketchUp to an extent. I wonder if the author of the plugin saw a business need for this kind of plug in,.... Or if he just simply may have been a casual SketchUp user in addition to being an engineer and coder.
I actually started developing these plugins quite by accident (Truss plugin). I have a web based truss calculator that I initially programmed as a purely academic exercise but eventually became a web based tool when I saw that others might have use for it. This web based app provided a way for the user to generate a DWG of the truss geometry and then download it. I don't remember who it was, but a SketchUp user emailed me one day back in early Oct. 2015 if I could also make it generate a SketchUp file instead. At that point I had no idea if I could or not, I had no knowledge that SketchUp even had a Ruby API, so I said I would look into it. A few days later in some spare time I was curious if SketchUp might have some sort of AutoLisp like feature (similar to AutoCad) so I dug around on the internet a bit and sure enough an API did exist.
In a few hours I quickly hacked together a bit of Ruby code (my first time coding Ruby, all my previous coding experience is primarily Perl, javascript and HTML) and pretty soon I had some code that one could drop into the ruby console or your plugin folder (.rb file) and it would draw the truss geometry. At the same time I also discovered the various SketchUp forums (SketchUp and Sketchucation). I posted about my update to my truss calculator since I figured other SketchUp users might find this useful if they wanted to model up accurate trusses: sketchucation.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=323&t=63133
A few days later Julian Smith (South African Architect/Designer) asked me if this tool would become a "real extension". That got me thinking and I thought if I can find the time it might be fun to actually make this into something. I was finding that the API and ruby were actually quite fun to program and it didn't take much convincing to keep working on it, in truth it was strangely addicting. One thing led to the next and pretty soon the truss plugin was capable of generating a number of truss types.
In 2016 I started work on the Foundation plugin however I held off on developing the Wall plugin since John Brock had announced his work on a framing plugin.
By early 2018 the Truss plugin had gradually evolved into quite a complex and deep plugin and I had a number of people begging me to consider doing a Wall plugin. Brock's wall plugin had still not been released so I finally decided I'd go for it. Except this time, instead of working on it part time, I decided to go for it full time. I did a KickStarter campaign to see if there was sufficient interest in a Wall plugin and started programming it full time in early April 2018.
All of the plugins are currently under active development. They have been my full time job since I started the Wall plugin. My current push is to complete the complex rafter roof module. I am grateful to SketchUp for having the foresight to provide an API and for my customers who allow me to keep creating and pushing the ball forward, without them none of this would have been possible. One day I would like to see SketchUp become the predominant architectural tool used for residential and commercial work.

interesting, I find this being fairly useful in duplicating buildings for model railroads. Now my question how well do you think one of these models will print out on a 3D printer? What setting would you use to make it more friendly in print out a 1:160 scale building with a typical 3d resin printer?

Excellent question. I am currently working on the complex roof module for the Truss plugin. This has been the holy grail of the plugin since day one. I've only recently solved the necessary algorithm to attack these kinds of roofs and now I am working through the details of the implementation. That is my goal, to replace Revit with SketchUp and some well crafted extensions. I've used Revit in the past and it's just not fun to work with, software needs to be fun and SketchUp is.

Question regarding scaling floor plan images
First of all I would import a floor plan and then size it to a dimension within the plan itself. Then I would like to take a second floor plan into the same location and scale it the same as the first floor plan how is that done?
was there a way to add the corner trim on the siding and the freize boards?

You are best expert in SketchUp world, but it is not architecture plugin, it is plugin for building design.

The complex roof module (within the Medeek Truss extension) is still in development however I have been releasing incremental builds (almost nightly) so that users can test bed it and give me feedback as the development progresses. Each plugin is a separate stand alone plugin. However, if you purchase the mdkBIM package you receive a fairly steep discount on the Wall, Truss and Foundation plugins. The electrical plugin is entirely separate and eventually will be joined with the Medeek Mechanical and Medeek Plumbing plugins to form the mdkMEP package. However, if you purchase the suite this month (Sept. 2019) I am willing to throw in the Medeek Electrical extension at no cost, just email me at nathan@medeek.com and mention this offer from UA-cam.
@@medeekdesign Do you know if you can use metric measurments?
@@niklaslundmark2140 If you choose a metric template the plugin(s) automatically switch to metric in their draw and edit menus. There are a few features that are still only in imperial (ie. timber trusses) however for the most part the plugins are dual units capable.

Will this extension work with the free version of Sketchup?
Extensions don't work in the free online version of SketchUp
The free version of SketchUp is web based and does not support plugins/extensions however you can still download SketchUp Make 2017 for free and the extensions are supported for this version of SketchUp and will remain so.

@@Thesketchupessentials Quite frankly just with the estimating plugin, however I do believe that hasn't been the focus of his development time. I was just trying to see if perhaps I was missing something that would allow me to calculate totals for lumber (e.g. 2X6X10's, 2X6X8's) without having to do so using the CSV in Excel

The Electrical plugin is currently configured only with NEMA electrical outlets and switches. I have been making some plans to extend it to other electrical standards such as the British Standard (ie. BS 1363 etc...) however I have been very busy with development on the foundation plugin lately and have not been able to allocate the time to put together the necessary electrical components.
