Hi everyone! Continuing the series on Architectural Extensions for SketchUp with Profile Builder - let me know if you can think of some cool uses for this extension in the comments below! :)
hello, do you know any alternative free plugins. I'm currently struggling in making railings and stairs, and if I did it "manually" it took a lot of time to finish.
I have been using profile builder 3 a lot for creating render ready models. I typically do an assembly made of two walls joined together, an inside wall for interior finishes ( back up wall and interior finish) and one for the exterior part of the wall , dimensionally correct from the sheathing out to face of exterior finish. That way I can control the color of the walls in the interior independently of the exterior finish.
hI jUSTIN, i have a upcoming project in which i will have to use drone to map a section of property then create a map with contours to load sketchup to create a 3d model from which we will calculate earthworks to be done what software if you know will allow the drone data to be up loaded into sketchup, what software can I use for the mapping. I intend to use a DJI Phantom 4 pro RTK
Hi Wayne - I'm not really aware of a way to get this data from a drone in an accurate enough way to do actual earthwork takeoff - usually the apps I've seen approximate with photogrammetry, but I'm not sure I'd trust the created geometry for actual quantities...
This looks like a very cool extension and very useful. But like a lot of the extensions you show on your channel I think they should be a part of sketch up Pro when you buy it at the price point that comes with sketch up I feel it's lacking a lot of features for instance if you have an angle you want to dimension that angle you have to get an extension for a program that costs over $600.00 and does not have a lot of the basic functions that these extensions have makes me feel sketch up is way overpriced for the Pro version.
I suppose that's a fair way to look at it - that being said, the other way to look at it is the extension system gives way more access to the community to add whatever features they want, so I guess it's a matter of perspective...

This is literally going to save me HOURS of time. Thank you.

Thank you for the gigantic effort, patience and knowledge you share with us.
you said that 36" and 24" was tight for trusses....sheathing is only rated for 24"/32" spacing, so no its not tight, its actually standard at 24" o.c.
thank you!
Thanks
