In this video (featuring 100% more mewze face) I talk about how Dead by Daylight has a toxic community. This means toxic survivors, bully survivors and maybe a toxic killer. Despite not everyone being horrible, a majority of the players are very entitled about what perks are allowed and such. Springtrap also isn't in the game yet which means it sucks.
Dead by Daylight is an online asymmetric multiplayer survival horror game developed by Canadian studio Behaviour Interactive. It is a one-versus-four game in which one player takes on the role of a Killer and the other four play as Survivors; the Killer must impale each Survivor on sacrificial hooks to appease a malevolent force known as the Entity, while the Survivors have to avoid being caught and power up the exit gates by working together to fix five generators. - Ігри

I personally think that the sheer amount of sore winners in this game really speaks volumes about how... unfriendly the community is.
Dbd’s community has a stupid habit of getting angry if they can’t have fun, but their way of having fun is ruining the killer’s time. If I don’t have fun, I’ll call you thousands of slurs and if I do have fun, I’ll start throwing slurs at your face to rub in your face I won
@@P.H691 sounds like I'll be going back to counterstrike and never buying this waste of cash. The way you describe the game sounds like it's worse than the old Black ops 2 lobbies. Because usually those guys are just messing around and not serious but these guys sound serious.
@@P.H691 Not always. I for one dont mind if I lose as long as I feel I had a decent chance to play and the game wasnt purely miserable. But my idea of fun involves using meme perks and messing around with non-meta perks with the exception of distortion. Nothing makes me happier than making a pebble play, even if I nod my ass off and get caught 20 seconds later (thinking "Not so funny now is it", with the killer looking smug af). The only time I get angry at killers is if they are being total assholes. 4 man slug at 5 gens, hard tunnel at 5 gens (sometimes even with multiple hooks already on others and just choosing to only tunnel you). There IS a use for camp and tunnel, but it should be when you are losing pressure as killer to try regain it. But if somebody is doing it at 5 gens, and playing with 4 slowdowns on the best killers it grinds my gears big time, as that just showcases somebody who is A) insulated by Perks and b) a complete misery guts who wants nobody else to at least have fun.
It could even be a really hard fought match and I die right at the end, and I wont complain as long as the match was enjoyable. Thats the thing not everyone is looking to bully the killer.
Assholes are eveywhere i have to come to realize. They are at work, they are at school, they are in your games, assholes are everywhere and they are exhausting to put up with.

Killers= Complaining that the survivor survives

But he is! It’s literally a video about how survivors are entitled and killers are balanced with a perk pool that is t meant to STOP the game immediately or steamroll a team. This was a biased video that said basically nothing but “survivors are mean to killers”!
@sghps4315 I'm assuming you are joking, but in case you aren't, the takeaway is it's a video game where two sides do what it takes to win or just have fun, they are against each other so there is bound to be clashing ideals of winning, but regardless, both need to accept that the other will do what it takes to win, no matter the strategy, unless you're toxic about it
@@lucwhite4502 Define "toxic". Well good luck with getting a solid definition on that. He even admits that most killers can guarantee a single kill by camping a basement hook. I only play killer but I'd never do that because it's not fun. Either the game is designed in a way to not be fun or players are making it that way.
@shadowprince4482 I see toxicity as acting in a certain way to be mean or rude without being provoked to do so. The google definition is "These are the people who spread negative or toxic stress or traumas on others behavior." Also, he specifically mentions how you CAN camp, but everyone else will just escape, resulting in you getting one kill. But honestly, both dbd and its community are crap now

When people tea bag at exit gates, I still try to get them. Every so often I catch one on his way out. Most satisfying sacrifices in that game
What I do is play monitor and abuse Myers, make sure I 99'd my tier 3, hide around the outside of the exit gates, wait for the little cocky shits to peek their heads out, then go tier 3 and down them before they can run back to the exit
I have gotten some good ones with death slinger so satisfying
Use deathslinger with bw and you can turn the corner while aiming and drag them to their death
Imagine if the repeated teabagging made their legs break and downed them
Wesker actually can slam survivors against the gate and immediately carry them if they’re injured. It was incredibly satisfying
I played killer recently against a team that spent over a year getting 40,000 Head-On stuns. They said congrats in chat that I was the 40,000th stun. I checked their stream and it was some middle-aged dudes who were actually having fun just counting Head-on stuns, coordinating with locker call-outs and everything... Most bizarre DBD experience in my life.

I remember this match that changed my entire perspective on dbd. I was caught by the killer pretty early into a match and hooked in the basement. All the survivors had an opportunity to save me because they were near me but didn’t come through; only this one Bill player came and looked at me while hanging only for about five seconds before disappearing. When all hope seemed lost,just as I was about to die he comes back just to do the same thing. I turned off the game and took a two-week break. I am not some hardcore player,I generally play one or two hours in a week or sometimes less than that. Boy,that two-week break really got me in another direction of play when it comes to survivor.
That’s why I always play killer. I tried to be a solo survivor but it was so cancerous. I’m happy to be a killer main bc it’s much more enjoyable imo. Plus I’m on PC so I don’t have to worry about someone telling me to kms
dbd can be pretty tough for new players solely because of the community. the gameplay is simple and easy to learn, but some new people can be put off by extreme toxicity
Yeah I genuinely feel bad for new players that have no idea how to play the game. I watched UA-cam content on the game for probably a year before I decided to pick up the game and play. I had a headstart on how to play the game so I knew what to expext.
Yeah that's why when I play killer and I see someone confuse I just go Uber easy on them just for fun and let them escape, like I'll still get everyone to death hook but I'll let them leave
the new player grind doesn’t help either, especially for killer you don’t have access to any good builds by default.

I think a huge contributor to community toxicity is that matches can be consistently fixed into wins thus building astronomically high egos. It can be pretty tough to let your ego go and just enjoy the game no matter the outcome and it’s even harder when you’re surrounded by people who need to do the same.
Yeah 100%. And it’s not just DBD, but the gaming community in general. People seem to have such massive ego’s that they refuse to even admit that they made a small mistake and that it was all their teammates fault, or blame it on bad randoms. Refusing to acknowledge that they may have lost just because someone was better than them. Every gamer knows that guy, who’s hella toxic and disrespectful and almost always has nothing positive to say. Shame really

A broken home who still gives time to game usually is the kid just trying to enjoy their time, while kids who don't know what "no" is and is generally nurtured well doesn't understand how long decency can take you.
Forget toxic losers, toxic winners are just the final nail in the coffin for any multiplayer game for me honestly, once these fun games are turned into a competition by its community where everyone rubs their victory in your face to piss you off needlessly, there's really no point in playing to have fun.
Needless example, and as you said, this behavior isn't massly common for a lot of other games, but personally, I tried playing the Texas Chainsaw Massacre recently, and several matches in a row, I've had to try and figure my way around the house, and in more than half of them, survivors would actively rush all the exits and sit there for around 10 minutes just to annoy, bully, and waste new killers' time, forget closing the game temporarily, that type of behavior just completely killed my desire to try and get good at the game period.
If you're dating someone and find out they're a DBD player get out as soon as possible, they are terrible people

I'm really glad people are starting to notice just how toxic the DBD community is and speak more about it because everytime I try to point out the game's toxicity whether it be DBD forums, Reddit or even Steam discussions I get called a toxic crybaby and even if my points were valid people don't care the slightest

That’s the unfortunate fate of DBD. It’s two separate sides that wanna win. While not all do, a lot of this community want their side to win or Be overall better. All I want is kill vs survive rates to be equal so I can play both sides without getting hate for playing the damn game. It sucks so much I took a hiatus from it cause it’s just not as good as it could be. When a game allows you to pick sides, it tends to turn people into degenerates that can’t fathom someone playing the game better than them.
It was a party game when it came out. Stayed that way for about a year before the first toxic content creators made it into a wannabe competetive Game. Today players actually use terms like microplay, elo etc. and act like it's on the same level as LoL or CS. The game is about nothing but ruining each others fun now.
Best example is the current event. Killers have to hook survivors for a tome challenge and what do survivors do? They use offerings and toolboxes to reduce the amount of hooks, just to piss the killer off.

I play both sides & sabo squads/that reduced hook offering have always appeared sporadically because
a. that playstyle exists & works, so why not?
b. sabo squads are fun for some people (not my playstyle but still)
I've not noticed an influx of people doing that, and actually I've seen like...probably 3 total during this event. I've played almost every day at least a bit for this event, too.

-humping downed survivors (which I find a lil funny tbh)
-letting survivors bleed out
-teaming up with judas survivors
-being disrespectful (standing above downed survivors as wraith and ringing the bell until he dies)
-pretending to let survivors out and then downing them over and over again
-hitting hooked survivors over and over again for no reason

It's a bit telling that he doesn't at all bring up how the devs had to introduce not 1 but two separate anti being a jerk Killer mechanics and likely will have to add more because killers are so toxic a lot of the time. No one denies toxic survivors but it's amazing how much whenever these 'toxic' dbd videos pop up it only looks at the survivors.
That legit sounds like something I’d do if I played the game. If I win I’m gonna make sure the opponent knows it.
@@CybellaN Well survivor mains pretty much make up around 80% of the DBD population so you're going to get significantly more players acting toxic from that side of the game. You definitely get toxic killers, but its nowhere close to the same extent as what comes from survivors. The killer role is very limited in what they can do to actively play in a mocking toxic way. You're basically limited the things like face camping or tunneling, which in itself is annoying, but if you camp then you will probably lose the game and if you tunnel well that's not really toxic as such even though its not enjoyable for the person being tunneled. SWF teams on the the other hand have so many perk combos that actively ridicule killer players that aren't good. They purposely go out with the intention of making the person look bad and a lot of the time its being streamed. I honestly think thats were a lot of frustration and toxic play on killers behalf comes from. They get mocked by SWF teams and then decide to take it out on solo queue players over the course of the next 5 games or so. DBD is filled with wannabe toxic bully squads and it creates problems for both killers & solo queue survivors.
man i had a match of survivor and completely outplayed the killer then out of nowhere got harassed by the player for almost 3 months this game is insane
I have played since 2016 and the community has been growing increasingly toxic and gaslighting. Especially on Twitter. Twitter is somehow the worst when it comes to being toxic to the devs and new players. And the content creators eat it up since toxic players losing brings in a lot of views, so they end up glorifying toxic behavior unintentionally. Especially certain creators who don’t just glorify it but exploit it.
It’s one of the most entitled communities as well. They seem to expect people to cater to them. The worst part is the devs are aware how toxic the community is, but don’t really know how to fix it.
The devs dont even know how to make their game save from doxxing and ddos attacks. Doesnt every popular streamer play with a vpn.

Which sucks because I love the concept of the game. I *want* to play it, but the raw anxiety I feel whenever I so much go *inches* close to a survivor as a killer will never be outdone by any adrenaline rush.

I' loving this new format with your face on it. I was interested in DBD when it released mostly for it's lore but the gameplay itself never got too much of my attention.
Good video, this honestly helped me realize that it's okay to use perks that are "frowned upon" and okay to be a boring player when it gives you joy and satisfaction

I’m really happy that MewZe has found the confidence to use his face in his videos now but I would like to keep seeing GrubZe as well. Also a lot of what made MewZe’s videos so enjoyable for me in the first place was all the funny stuff that got added in editing and that felt kind of absent in this video. I completely understand if MewZe’s trying out something new and I’m all for the way he makes videos to evolve but I really hope he doesn’t stray to far from what made so many people fall in love with him.

The biggest problem with communitys being such a big crybaby is the fact, that all this crying has impact on balance changes. I think the best example is the new "anti-camp" mechanic. Like, camping is so fucking easy to counter if survivors use their brains to cooperate (the only exception are chainsaw killers and two insta down addons, but these can be fixed withput fucking over the whope balance of the game), and now killers are so fucked if this thing goes live, cause of how it puts killers in so many lose-lose situations. Survifors want killers to stop camping and tunneling, but they dont undwrstand this is what killers are forced to do to have a chance to win against good survivors. The victim role was dominating the power role for years, its just sad at this point

I agree with this whole video i always say that no other game can hold a candle to dbd on how toxic it is, ive experienced toxic survivors more than killers and you can't even lose in peace as killer sometimes cause if survivor's "destroy" they get an ego boost and feel like they need to tell you to get good, when i played this game actively id get messaged almost every day, whether i win or lose and it sucks bad
After the game ends block the toxic ones you know who they are, so you don't get those messsges
I agree. I feel like there is a lot of toxic survivors when I play Killers(but there are also chill and nice ones ad well). Recently, I get sweaty survivors who loop me for the entire match and I only manage to get 2 hooks. Then one of the survivors made fun of my build. Like, I am not sure why they need to make fun of my build when all of them have the same exact survivor build.
Used to always get messaged it sucked. One of the main reasons why I’m happy that I switched to PC was bc the toxic messages dropped significantly

You're not wrong about the community having a problem with being toxic. I quit ever wanting to play killer because of how unorthodox people get if the killer doesn't meet "every killer rule."
My suggestion: screw them. Either argue, pull the “I play how I want, whatcha gonna do” card, or outdo them by bragging about how they suck so hard they have to come up with arbitrary rules to win.

I'll never forget when I played as the killer and all 4 survivors had a flashlight. Post match all 4 survivors made it sound like I started a 2nd Holocuast with the way they were cursing me out for using Lightborn
They are so entitled it's disgusting. The only reason why Lightborn is so good now is because they buffed Flashlights so much that everyone can easily blind the Killer now. I bet the devs will nerf Lightborn at some point just because Survivors are crying about it.

Out of all the years of playing DBD, only once the game got me angry. And it was only for a few seconds before I began to laugh as I thought it was funny that I got angry over a game. You see I see this game as a party game. Sometimes I win, sometimes I lose. I’m here just to enjoy the insane crossovers and play as my favorite iconic characters.

It really is crazy the community that this game has. One of my friends who plays it, has tons of toxic comments on his steam profile. Really mind boggling how these people are taking this game this seriously
I know a Killer Main streamer who has 150 pages of comments on his profile. Like 95% of these comments are insults from Dbd players. It's insane. I myself have like 50 private messages on Xbox, attacking me personally for playing Killer. My steam profile has countless hate comments as well.

I played an game that acts just like dead by daylight called make it to midnight in recroom.....but the collaborations in dbd is absolutely amazing.

Only difference is that in vr your hammer constantly enters cool down when YOU DID NOT EVEN ATTACK MOVE YOUR HAMMER TO THE LEFT COOL-DOWN PUT YOUR HAMMER NEXT TO YOUR LEG COOL-DOWN
I have never wanted to uninstall this game more than when I was playing with my 2 friends and in 5 out of 5 games my newbie friend got hard tunneled and camped by people looking at him like a piece of enjoyment.
And yes, I uninstalled it, at least until next patch.
Yeah its unfortunate, the Devs in some ways don't help because you usually have to do "dirty" tactics to when games.
Which makes DBD more about Kills then Chases I'm afraid. :(
It's the "I'm not responsible for your fun" mentality that has really kinda killed any sportsmanship in the game. I think the community goes back and forth with this. One minute everyone is screeching about playing fair and not using certain perks or playstyles and the next it's about playing however you wanna play regardless of the outcome or other people. I mean even in the vid it's very clear that there's more of a bias here. The whole community is very "Us Vs. Them" unfortunately.
Maybe it’s just me but it feels like people in this game go out of their way or even make it their entire goal to make others upset. Even in other toxic communities, atleast winning or sometimes fun is the ultimate goal, but in this game for a sadly decent amount of players that isn’t the case.

I am not upset about certain perks being used. There is always going to be a dominant strategy, I just wouldn't mind some variety instead of always seeing Made For This and Windows of Opportunity.
Going against Windows is okay but it is annoying and feels bad to play against 4x resilience,hope, made for this builds 24/7

You can say the same thing for killers. They literally also just use the same ass perks. It's either aura reading or gen regression.

Liked and subbed, quality comedy. I'm still quite new, at least in terms of playing, but I'll tell you that when I play with friends I often find at least 1 toxic killer.
Since we're partied, bleedout hostage holding forces us to DC and lose BP or AFK for the game to end. I've also been hard tunneled multiple times for 0 reason. To clarify I don't mean general tunneling, but players who's sole prerogative is to ruin 1 survivor's day by purposefully and exclusively targeting that 1 player. Barely 30 hours into survivor and I've already been forced to hit the books, sacrifice BP, and ignore fun just to play the game. You really only talked about survivor but killers aren't exactly innocent either. Sad life :(

Most people probably roleplay so as its a slasher horror part for the role play as a survivor you arent supposed to get better but as a killer you are supposed to be lowkey unstoppable.

This reminds me of one game I played where I was doing a daily ritual as Dwight. Dwight is not my survivor main, and this was before the second major prestige rework. The killer was the then recently released Pinhead with a purple and red addon and a map offering that sent us to MacMillan Estate. We ended up at the Groaning Storehouse, a map I know how to run the killer pretty well. However, I didn't have most of my good looping perks on Dwight and mostly used Quick and Quiet. I ended up dying that game, but not before being chased by the Pinhead for an overall total of about 2/3 of the game. In the post game chat, despite having killed me, he called me the "epitome of what's wrong with dbd" and went on a rant on why the game is so survivor sided when 1, he was also using meta perks and some of the strongest addons for his killer, and 2, he picked the map, and 3, I was really only using one of my four perks to directly counter him.
On the other hand, I remember nearly losing my shit when I was trying ro get the "Evil Incarnate" achievement and survivors kept hiding in lockers to avoid the mori. It 100% goes both ways.

This is, without a doubt, the best video I’ve ever seen on DBD. I’ve been playing the game for three years as a killer and survivor, and I have seen so many entitled players and some that even hack bc they crave the win so badly.
And not to point fingers, but the survivors have got so many things nerfed and STILL complain about killers who are ‘too OP’ bc the player was able to utilize the perks in a strategic, smart way. I’ll never forget when they delayed the Death Slinger’s shoot time by half a second bc it was ‘too easy’ to shoot survivors, and it made the killer almost impossible to play as. The power and entitlement is insane.
Lung Disease :3 uwu, but yeah, the way I see it, toxic survivors make toxic killers, like I haven't played in like 4 months or so now, but I remember the most recent time I played, I had a shit game against 4 fucking flash lights, and just decided that the next game's people ought to get fucked, so I picked Nurse and went ham with it, I downed a poor bastard like 2 meters away from the hatch and immediately put him on my back out of sheer anger and frustration, and I just played 2 damn games, I decided to get legion when everyone was on sale, and it made me hate my life, so I uninstalled, on an entirely different note, I really miss Evolve stage 2, just picking behemoth and catching all 4 hunters with the fireball was a blast
I got told a lot of things when I was playing, like getting called a tryhard and bad in the same game because I tried to win and almost 4k, but affter every match there was a majority chance I'd get told to uninstall wether because I won or I lost I would hear it, so I did and I hope they enjoy slightly longer que times in the future

I honestly don't think light born is strong in what it prevents, moreso what it offers. It prevents pretty much nothing if you're good at the game, but it's one of the rare perks that gives you the tools for survivor despair. The same can be applied to other perks such as NOED. Not knowing if the killer has them until it's too late can give a free health state and even a good laugh/scare, but so many people wanna use the in theory arguments of "just don't blind" or "just break the hex" when in reality most survivors will say these things because they wanna blind 15x and save after the gates are open because they hate the idea of this being a horror game. In practice if you bring light born it's not because you're avoiding a blind but because you want the survivor to keep trying to blind you and waste time. The way people always make these perks out to be "braindead" or "garbage" just feels like they know they're good and wanna say they're not so people stop running them without directly saying "this perk makes me angry, stop using it"

I mean yeah but if a survivor wants to be toxic all they can do is just crouch over and over wow my day is ruined but a killer can legitimately just ruin your game completely theres nothing stopping them from playing a match as bubba with a basement build and camping you for 2 minutes because they felt like it

Seems accurate. When I tried to get into it I started with survivor and then tried to be the killer but people got mad when I got them, and toxic when I got completely stomped by their premade group, I mean, isn't there any way to satisfy them?
I think it’s cause a death in this game is so visceral , and you can go down pretty fast, so it just elevates the normal frustration.

Thats why as killer. I don’t give a fuck. I just move on to the next game if I lose. And Ill brutally kill all survivors if I have a chance. Thats one problem I see in this game. If someone wins or loses they stay in the lobby and be a dick about it for like 10 minutes. If you turn off your end game chat. The game is so much better.
I quit because of this toxic community but it's not only their fault devs are allowing this type of behavior and this game is so broken and unfinished but it's so unique that ppl are allowing devs to do everything they want

There is absolutely *NOTHING* wrong with you using lightborn as a killer. Survivors who complain about it just prove that they want to make killer feel bad and not able to have fun.

I have always said this. Lightborn is literally the worst killer perk in the game. You are running a perk to counter and item that does virtually nothing. you have 3 perks while the survivors has 16

But on a serious note, yeah if nobody brings flashlights then the perk is useless. Thing is that if someone does bring one then they can't use it for it's intended purpose of wasting your time and saving teammates (you can't look away during pick up animation), effectively leaving them itemless, which is really strong and worth the perk slot
Lightborn is a waste of a perk slot. Not only that, but it makes you bad at the game. Heck even predator is a better perk. I wouldn’t run that shit even against a bully swf, all I have to do is face the walls and boom ez

You explained my feelings so good but also I don't blame all of it to the players but I think game mechanics are also very sinister in some of the mechanics. Best way to play is kind of annoy the heck out of other side to be honest.

i’m very new to dbd (i’ve only been playing for a couple weeks) and the amount of harassment i’ll get from time to time is insane. i usually don’t mind killers (i’ve actually developed friendships with some killer mains so far!) but the other survivors are what really puts me off - especially if they’re really high rank. i’ve been left on a hook until i’ve died. i usually don’t mind being a ‘sacrificial lamb’ because i enjoy helping my teammates, but man… have i gotten chewed up and spit out over just playing the game.
