My own EDC is my wallet, my phone, a few pocket trinkets (pocket knife, nail clippers, Chap Stik, and some dental picks, and a flashlight and a handkerchief). Over the last couple years, I've added a "wallet" that holds a SWAT-T tourniquet, some gloves that fit me, and some wound-packing gauze, because I'm more likely to use them than I am a self-defense devise or weapon. Optional items, depending on where I'm going, include OS Spray (employer mandated) or a handgun.
Why would someone complain that you carry EDC items?? Why would it even bother them about what's in your pockets? Bizarre. I like having EDC and have used them. They must feel guilty about being unprepared.
It's interesting how some people can be bothered by what others choose to carry. EDC items can be really useful, and it's all about personal preference! They see stuff being un-necessary, pocket junk, or showing off.

EDC is just a man purse. Some dudes put it all in their pockets, and some carry a bag. Thanks for the video!
