Absolutely love the frame style and controls. Twist shifter on the left, throttle on the right like it should be... I don't know why other companies can't figure it out. Locking out the front suspension helps efficiency when pedaling. It doesn't make much difference under motor power though, because the motor is applying energy in a purely rotational mode, instead of up and down like your legs do when pedaling. The alloy wheels are cool and trouble free, and the only downside is having to replace the whole wheel if you want to upgrade to something like a Bafang G62. Not surprised the battery gave out with the top speed testing, sand, and bogging it down on hill climbs! It was a battery stress test, and I think it did ok considering. If it was a little faster, I might consider registering it as a moped, but it probably has a serial number instead of a legal VIN. The deal breaker is being a hardtail and hitting a pothole at 35mph. Awesome video, and I was actually out riding when it started 😢😢

That's a cool looking bike, they seem to be improving all the time. Not sure I'm a fan of the cadence sensor though, think torque sensor is best..but there's not much availability for upgrades atm.

Nice review! Cool looking bike. If you're interested I have a new street legal sur Ron alternative FINALLY shipping. Vin number of 4 so no almost no other ones out there. 72 volts, 40ah, full carbon fiber frame, 62 mph top speed, etc if you're interested in testing it out. Velimotors Vmx08 is the bike. I also have a juiced ripracer that I haven't seen you review and is a fantastic entry level bike.

Came down to this or the revv1 for me. Lower price with double suspension made me choose revv1. Not sure if I'll be screwed on hills with one gear, though.
Was looking at both of these bikes too. But I think in the run the Revv1 will be better. The Astro is just so expensive for the looks

Ive done some rocky challengeing trails on this bike and it ate up the trails no problem! The fat tires and suspension helped a lot! Going uphill with PAS no problem at all. 👍💪👌

I think a shimano ep8 or bafang ultra max style mid drive might fit that frame's bottom bracket mounts.
Those need special mounting designs..a bbshd might fit

@@slimdunkin117 if you can find the right frames - it's a trend cropping up to use a generic mount frame from china and frequently the ones that are just empty with a crank only can either use adapter plate(s) or bolt straight in to if you can cross reference the right frame. I have not done it myself but I've seen it come up a number of times in forums/channels for enthusiast builders. I think someone did a secret upgrade by ordering a base model bike from a company and making a second order on aliex to pick up the guts for having a front gearbox (not pinion but similar).

It doesn’t feel small to me. It’s definitely a little bit smaller than my Super73 though.

Suspension on the rear
It's a cool bike. I think it would be better with off-road tires. I personally wouldn't say it's like a motorcycle but there are very limited number of bikes I'd compare to a motorcycle something like a Sur Ron and a few others. That doesn't take away from this bike.
Surron isn’t street legal tho..this is street legal components with a cool frame
