I was excited to get my new Bosch after reading so many glowing reviews; and the only thing I can say is, as an engineer, I would be horribly embarrassed to admit this was my design. I’ve loaded many dishwashers and dishwasher brands over the last 50 years, and this is by far the least efficient or usable dishwasher I’ve had the misfortune to be stuck with-and after spending $1300+, I couldn’t be more irritated. As someone else pointed out, European dishes must be much smaller; the only dishes that would fit on the middle rack inside the tines would have to be dollhouse dishes. My smallest cup saucer hits against any small glass that sits on the shelf next to it. The bottom tines are so close together, you can fit Corelle between the, but stoneware is a totally different issue. Bosch is proud of it holding 12 place settings (again would have to be very thin plates), but how many people have 12 place settings to wash on a daily basis. Bowls, coffee pots, other dishes have very few spaces to fit decently. I honestly can’t even express my extreme disappointment with this inefficient, expensive, monstrosity.

Feeling the same about our recent purchase. We tend to have many more glasses than bowls and plates and it feels we cannot fit nearly as much in per load as we did in previous 15 year wold Whirlpool.

I replaced my Amana with a Bosch 100 and can fit only half as many dishes as I used to. Bosch directed me to a video. I don't need a condescending video on how to load a dishwasher. I need a dishwasher that my dishes actually fit into.

Agree. The racks aren't anything like my old dishwasher, which was so simple to load. These have tines all over the place and takes me longer to figure out how to load than it would to wash a week's worth of dishes by hand. I don't like my new one at all.

I got my new 500 series as we had a Bosch before and had a great experience with it. This unit has been nothing but a headache since the purchase. Install wait time was longer than advertised (Home Depot, not a Bosch issue), and once installed we were dismayed to discover that the unit would not work after being installed. The install tech ran the unit through a short test cycle after installing and left the home immediately after starting the unit. I was unable to close the door or change the cycle the first time I went to use the unit. After a 20 plus minute hold for Bosch customer service, the rep. spent over 20 minutes on the phone trying to diagnose why the unit would not change cycles and why the door would not close. We finally got the door to shut so we ran the unit on the heavy cycle which it was set for. I was told not to open the door since we had such a difficult time getting it to shut and that it probably was due to the latch needing to run through a cycle to reset.
The second time (two days later) I went to use the unit the door would not close and again unable change cycle type. Again, a prolonged hold time for customer service and this time we were unable to get the door to close. She sent via email a service contractor for me to contact to have the door issue resolved. Again, 5 days wait for a tech to come and resolve the issue. He stated that the frame to the unit was bent preventing the door from closing. After manually bending the frame he managed to get the door to close and latch. When asked, he too was unable to get the unit to change cycle setting. He said that he would check back the following day to see if the unit would change cycle settings after running a cycle. The video did not help on my cycle issues, and still waiting for a tech to help get this unit to change cycles.... Bosch apparently does not want to replace the unit as I would expect per their warranty. Had the unit for 3 weeks and have only run 3 cycles with dishes along with the two test cycles. NOT A HAPPY CUSTOMER.

It is hard to find them at many of the stores now so I order them from Amazon and get a really good deal when they go on sale...
Sometimes, you can get a box of 84 Orange Gel Tabs for under $7.
as a bonus, they already have the rinse aid in them!

We just installed this dishwasher. I’ve ran it about 3 times. Every time I get unclean dishes. I was warned that this was a common complaint because people usually don’t put in dirty dishes. I’ve purposely made sure to leave my dishes dirty, only having removed the bulky stuff from the dishes. Last wash I had filth remaining in the bottom of 4 glasses! There’s no cluttering to screw this up, they’re glasses and mugs. I don’t run my dish a washer the instant I put dishes in? Is this a requirement or something? I’m so confused and trying to keep my cool, which is hard after spending $1K.

Maybe a late reply but make sure you use powder detergent instead of liquid. Use a long cycle instead of a short one and make sure it has a prewash stage. For heavily soiled stuff just add a teaspoon (not a tablespoon, a teaspoon) of powder in the bottom of the dishwasher, this small amount will be used in the prewash stage, while the amount you put in the dispenser will be released during the mainwash. Please do not prerinse, detergent will damage items and plastic parts instead of attacking dirt

Agree also. My old Kenmore which was far less expensive had racks that were far more practical, hadd multiple fold town tines which made it very user friendly. Though the dishwasher washes ok, I cannot make items fit in as I did before and end up hand washing more. Those tightly spaced tines on the bottom are not helpful...wish they could fold down. Mine does not include the very top rack for utensils, and they’re too tall for the lower rack so end up taking up space to place them in upper rack.

I have been unable to fit everything in it like I could with my old one. My bigger pots, no way. Even my Med. size pots don't fit well. These Bosch don't dry as well as American brands that have heating elements but they do work pretty well if you load your dishes properly. Read the manual and watch more videos on how to load it. One of Bosch's videos suggested to use the Sanitize and Extra Dry option together, along with Auto to get the best results or most dry. Mine do come out dry now, and I'm not using any rinse aid as they suggest. Glasses are really important to have on the side of the upper rack so the water doesn't pool. If you buy another one and want a heating element, KitchenAid still offers that like the old dishwashers you're probably used to. My guess is that in Korea and Germany they can't use heating elements to dry dishes any longer due to energy restrictions, so only the American brands offer that now.
That said, it is a bit of a crutch, you can get dry dishes out of a Bosch and these others, it just takes a lot more research and care loading in my experience. I wish I could say it saves energy over a heated model, but my guess is it's unlikely with the Sanitize and Extra Dry options enabled.

Look at their social media, it is littered with people asking for suppor to fix broken units and no one helps them. Unfortunately, I'm one of them too... 1 year of ownership and 6 service visits later it is still broken. Isn't it true that while Bosch dishwashers are well made, they are designed for smaller EUROPEAN DISHES - that's why Bosch dishwashers are so hard to load here in the US. A friend of mine, who worked in an appliance store for 20 years as a manager, clued me in to that little known fact. I moved into a house a year ago that has a Bosch and I still struggle with it. I have watched 3 other videos today about loading their dishwashers and nothing has seemed really helpful. At 1:25 in the video, it says large bowls in the lower rack should not be facing down and shows them facing upward slightly...that will cause 1/2" of water to collect and stay in the side of the bowl, which is STUPID!

I agree with almost all the above. I don't like the water left inside, not soapy just water. I can't load efficiently. I have watched and tried all po the examples with little to no success. The one thing I can say you will never hear this machine work VERY quiet. I would not recommend or ever buy again. Sorry I put so much money into this machine and will have to ride the years out til I can buy another. I bought the extra insurance from Home Depot and if needed I hope that will kick in for any repair.
