- After the small engine policy introduced by the Midland Railway failed to provide satisfactory service to the company which absorbed it, the London Midland & Scottish Railway (LMS), William Arthur Stanier introduced his first pacific design to get the company up to speed. But how did they fare...

Shame there isnt a Princess in Train Sim yet! Hopefully we will see one soon!
Meanwhile, i have a suggestion for a locomotive class to cover: LNER P2s? All 6 of them were unique and acts as a prologue to the A2/2s.
Regardless great video my guy! Keep it up!
I second the suggestion for the P2, especially with the new-build supposed to be done hopefully within the next 5 years; theoretically she might be able to out-pull a Duchess. Unless it’s a better idea to wait until she’s operational before making a video on it.
Also, fancy seeing you here Dark, but I shouldn’t be surprised. First discovered your channel a while ago and only recently been able to work my way through TDRS, the shorts, and the reviews & races. Can’t seem to get enough of the banter, at the moment. :P Anyway (Huh!), hope Season 11 ends up easy and quick to produce, whenever it might get done!
@@mewtheenigma2732 Cheers dude im plugging away in the background as always!
There will be soon ! :)
And the princess royals are in ts
@@maverick9530 yes they are , it sadly as there are no princess royals in steam , the sounds had to come from steam sounds supreme black 5 library and class 9f
As an aside: "Those Awful Locomotives: Class 17" Just food for thought.
Personally I don't have a strong opinion about what you cover next, though I'd love more of the less well known LMS/LNER locomotives, since my OO layout is vaguely Scottish themed.
Maybe do an episode on the GWR 2900 'Saint' class?
Also great episode, did not know the Lizzies were allocated to Old Oak Common to stand in for the Kings.
Can you please do a review on the 3 preserved caledonian railway locomotive, 123, 419 and 812?
What lovely ladies they were. If I was to request an interesting engine, I’d ask for the double-fairlies.
Great video as always! Anyways, can you review the LSWR T9s
Next (if not done already) I’d like to see the ivatt classes and the various differences between the tank and tender engines
Awesome video! Maybe you could do the SR king arthur class?
Were Big Four's Chief Mechanical Engineers required to grow mustaches by company policies?
Both Collett and Bulleid were clean shaven :)
Could you possibly do the NBR 224 and 420 classes? I love your videos keep up thr great work!
8:07 "damaged in a collision" is a very interesting way to describe the deadliest peacetime accident in British History (she was also pretty badly wrecked by the incident, I don't blame the write-off whatsoever).
Like the new update today.
Can you do the WD Austerity 2-8-0 and 2-10-0s?
maybe you should cover the GWR Ariadne class locomotives.
😞too bad for the turbomotive
Can you do the j15s?
What about the LSWR 0298 Class they have an interest story
can you do a diesel locomotive like the class o8
this is gonna sound weird but i like make drawings and simple computer simultions of fictional locomotives of midland designs scaled up to american standards
She’s a beauty
Lesh goooo
Furness Railway A5 aka Furness 20
What about the duchesses
The Princess Royals are my favourite locomotives, but why the Caledonian single in the film?
Sadly there isn't a Princess available for Train Simulator.
I live wair LMS and GWR over laped
Err, the GWR refused to share documents.
Upperby is pronounced Upper Bee. Names ending in -by are Danish/Norweigan in origin and indicate a village or township.
Not quite what Mr. Stanier's grandson, Michael Stanier, said. I used his statement given in a documentary as evidence. I know one often glorifies one's kin, but still.

@@FlyingScott I going by all the other sources, but this doesn't mean they're correct. But I can't see the board of a rival railway voluntarily helping other.
@@neiloflongbeck5705 Well of course, in those days, the engineers talked to eachother. I took it Bulleid was close friends with the big leagues at the SNCF, for instance. Similarly, Gresley and Stanier regularly had tea together.
We also must not forget Stanier was very familiar with the Kings so if the drawings were not granted, he already knew what boiler type he would have to look for as having been the shop manager at Swindon, he was adept with the figures.
Also, if Eastleigh gave North British the drawings for the Nelsons, the Stanier situation doesn't sound out of the ordinary.
@@FlyingScott NBL was an independent locomotive builder jot a railway company and as such could be supplied with the details of locomotives for any railway who needed their services.
Whilst the senior staff of the Big 4 would have had personal contact with each other, they would also be expected to keep the work they are carrying g kyt for their employer secret without the need for NDAs.
@@FlyingScott just finished watching this interesting film. Unfortunately believing that something was granted isn't proof that it was.
Care to make a vid on the Duke?
I think I do have some literature on 71000, will look into it in the not too distant future.
