"We're gettin rid of them tho... uh huh..." LMAO. Also, FYI: UV stabilized lexan (aka polycarbonate) is what you want unless it's track-only and/or won't spend much time in the sun. If you are gonna daily it spend even more for the scratch resist and uv stable version. That said, even the "cheap" polycarbonate will last for years. Velcro seriously rocks, works at over 150mph if done well. The adhesive (or paint you stuck it to) will fail before the hook and loop fastners! I have never screw-mounted it, but was told to use washers, with rubber/felt/schmoo underneath, and over-size the holes for the expansion so it does not crack. It's more of a problem the larger the window. Great job with the black border paint, thats how to make it look pro. Great how-to, keep up the great content!
Dude, awesome videos. Another thing that can be done after cleaning up the edges is with a blow torch glass up the white foggy look thats left after sending. You lighty pass the torch over the edge and it kinda melts the lexan just a bit and hardens like glass. Ive done it before with lexan.. And yep i learned it on UA-cam... Not sure if it would even matter but food for thought.
Beautiful job very well done wow that's was up you are amazing with your build God bless ya all and family and friends please stay safe out there with the crazy drivers out there
Lexan has a way higher UV and impact resistance. I tried (for science) and within a few months it cracked, few weeks after I could snap it with two fingers
fawk bro this is one of best fawking work! thanks for doing the diy video of lexan windows.. can you do the doors and rear on the hatch too? what thickness was those rear lexan windows?
just a suggested topic update this was good However No one or no body talks about the following Polycarbonate thickness their are several choices from .093 sheet thickness going upwards Home depot and lowes have the similar thickness stocks and sizes Has any one used a cut to size polycarbonate dealer like Curbell? or others am thinking 1/8 thickness is better? better to use on rear hatchback vehicles if you paint the polycarbonate black to match oem will industrial velcro still work??
Just a rough guess but if he's using 1/8" lexan compared to glass I'd probably guess a good 8-10lbs on the smaller windows and maybe 25lbs or so for the front and back windows and say 12lbs for the bigger front windows if done
Best walkthrough on YT. Thanks. I am going to turn my '65 Buick Riviera door windows into Polycarbonate one piece windows instead of wing windows and square windows. They are pretty much just flat glass with no curve. What thickness would you recommend?
You should look into damplifier Butyl Sealant Tape it would help with sealing the window also with dampening sound and vibration you also retain being able to remove the window if you wanted too
I aint gunna get an answer here: how the hell do I cut the lexan to the right size if I don't have a window template to work with cuz some idiot dropped it. I don't trust myself to just free ball it and hope it fits inside all perfect
why dont you keep the cut out of part of your window and use it for the next ones then you can just lay the cutout on your new sheet and take a rattle can of any color and just dust it inside of the cut out no tracing
Hey what's up man I'm Raymond I'm from Houston Texas I like the way you make those windows I don't have a steady hand to make them would you make me some and I'll pay the shipping and I'll pay you for making them I have a EG hatch as well
Honestly there is no better preparation than having the CORRECT TOOLS for the SPECIFIC JOB! Harbor freight is your friend! don't let some of these dipshits scare you away from harbor freight for the price you can't beat their tools! Don't get me wrong some of their shit is mediocre but most of it cannot be beat for the price and the job you're using each specific tool for! Great video dude you're a good teacher (explaining)🙏
"We're gettin rid of them tho... uh huh..." LMAO.

@ 2:14 why cant i use plexiglass?
Also, lexan is a brand, why wouldn’t other brands of polycarbonate work?
Lexan has a way higher UV and impact resistance. I tried (for science) and within a few months it cracked, few weeks after I could snap it with two fingers
I like this video, thats one of the next things for the EK.
God damn this is the best video out on making these sooooo helpful
Sander around those edges Genius!
That tutorial was money💵👍💸
Nice work I have the same car going to try it
what if you rivet them on but you have a piece of aluminum strip going along the inside adding rigidity?
Hey, you should look in to riv-nuts for yours and junior's windows. Might make for an even cleaner look. Just a thought
Dude, love your work. What is the thickness of the Lexan sheet do you use if you don’t mind me asking thank you😊

Great job on the lexan Windows bud! Back window is a little tough to do but do-able.
What are those screws bedding into? Great vid
Ordered my stickers and hopefully winning that valve cover, would look sick in my XSI
This is amazing! Great video tutorial. I'm definitely doing this for my E36 track car. What thickness do you recommend?
what are the weight savings on one window like that compared to glass one, when you include the weight of the screws?
Just a rough guess but if he's using 1/8" lexan compared to glass I'd probably guess a good 8-10lbs on the smaller windows and maybe 25lbs or so for the front and back windows and say 12lbs for the bigger front windows if done
Sick windows keep up the good work
Dam brother awesome video. Hey would you make a set and sell them. I have an eg I'm building and would love these.

Best walkthrough on YT. Thanks. I am going to turn my '65 Buick Riviera door windows into Polycarbonate one piece windows instead of wing windows and square windows. They are pretty much just flat glass with no curve. What thickness would you recommend?
Can yoh tell me where to get that transfer paper you’re using

Or the parts plug will bring me one.
Velcro not advised in wet climates.
Make me a set for my eg hatch
Lexan doesn't break when hit :)
What's the plan with max lol, gotta get into the gambler 500 scene
Where do you buy the Lexan from?
What is the thickness?
You should look into damplifier Butyl Sealant Tape it would help with sealing the window also with dampening sound and vibration you also retain being able to remove the window if you wanted too
You made it look so easy 🔥
👌🏽 turned out nice!
Can't you form the lexan with a paint gun to mold it.
Watching this Chicago time 530am lol
Where do I buy this sheet ? Home Depot ?
I aint gunna get an answer here: how the hell do I cut the lexan to the right size if I don't have a window template to work with cuz some idiot dropped it. I don't trust myself to just free ball it and hope it fits inside all perfect
Legit! The black paint is def the finishing touch most miss. Word bro!
Are the puppies required?
Dogs, extension cords............'Give your neighbor a ruler, so he can tell us the thickness of the material.
why dont you keep the cut out of part of your window and use it for the next ones then you can just lay the cutout on your new sheet and take a rattle can of any color and just dust it inside of the cut out no tracing
Hey what's up man I'm Raymond I'm from Houston Texas I like the way you make those windows I don't have a steady hand to make them would you make me some and I'll pay the shipping and I'll pay you for making them I have a EG hatch as well
