I've come back and re watched this video prob 10X. By far the best tips vs other youtube videos. All the details from cutting on foam, to stacking the quarter widows for symmetrical cuts and screw holes, cleaning the edges w the sander w a bevel, painting the black border, and the mention of the screws with beauty washers like khaki. Mine came out cherry 👌🤌.. the only thing I did different was i made cardboard templates of each window so I could place them more accurately on my full sheet of lexan. I was able to get all 5 pieces for my Civic coupe from one 4'x8' sheet.
Damn I prefer these videos over some of your other stuff. Your a great teacher
"We're gettin rid of them tho... uh huh..." LMAO.
Also, FYI: UV stabilized lexan (aka polycarbonate) is what you want unless it's track-only and/or won't spend much time in the sun. If you are gonna daily it spend even more for the scratch resist and uv stable version. That said, even the "cheap" polycarbonate will last for years. Velcro seriously rocks, works at over 150mph if done well. The adhesive (or paint you stuck it to) will fail before the hook and loop fastners! I have never screw-mounted it, but was told to use washers, with rubber/felt/schmoo underneath, and over-size the holes for the expansion so it does not crack. It's more of a problem the larger the window. Great job with the black border paint, thats how to make it look pro. Great how-to, keep up the great content!
Best video I have ever seen! Thanks!
How thick?
Sanding block would work to there buddy
This is now one of my fav car mod videos, great instructions. Glad I found your channel!
Dude, awesome videos. Another thing that can be done after cleaning up the edges is with a blow torch glass up the white foggy look thats left after sending. You lighty pass the torch over the edge and it kinda melts the lexan just a bit and hardens like glass. Ive done it before with lexan.. And yep i learned it on UA-cam... Not sure if it would even matter but food for thought.
Man you made this diy youtube video look like a episode of pimp my ride tv show...great work and production thx for the knowledge bro 👊🏽💯
Those window is nice and amazing I would do rear window to use lexan glass to heat it up to bend it match like glass window
Honestly there is no better preparation than having the CORRECT TOOLS for the SPECIFIC JOB! Harbor freight is your friend! don't let some of these dipshits scare you away from harbor freight for the price you can't beat their tools! Don't get me wrong some of their shit is mediocre but most of it cannot be beat for the price and the job you're using each specific tool for! Great video dude you're a good teacher (explaining)🙏
looks good but dont you need to seal it so its weather proof ?
Beautiful job very well done wow that's was up you are amazing with your build God bless ya all and family and friends please stay safe out there with the crazy drivers out there
That's sick!! Can't wait to see how the back window will be attempted!
Thanks for the stickers bro! They came in like 2 days ago.
them windows are fresh asf with the black paint trim!!!!
black fasteners. sweet job.
Dude, love your work. What is the thickness of the Lexan sheet do you use if you don’t mind me asking thank you😊
Good video, good tips and details thanks a million bro.
Sander around those edges Genius!
You can also layer blue masking tape and get the outline
CAnt wait to watch it after work
im sure that you have a good reason but why dont you use plexiglass?
what if you rivet them on but you have a piece of aluminum strip going along the inside adding rigidity?
Thanks bro this is a really useful video. My back window came out super nice
fawk bro this is one of best fawking work! thanks for doing the diy video of lexan windows.. can you do the doors and rear on the hatch too? what thickness was those rear lexan windows?
What are those screws bedding into? Great vid
Nice work I have the same car going to try it
I have a 89 si ef with a 2001 gsr. For 14 year
incredibly useful advice all throughout the video, cant wait to do mine on the z
just a suggested topic update
this was good
However
No one or no body talks about the following
Polycarbonate thickness their are several choices from .093 sheet thickness going upwards
Home depot and lowes have the similar thickness stocks and sizes
Has any one used a cut to size polycarbonate dealer like Curbell? or others
am thinking 1/8 thickness is better? better to use on rear hatchback vehicles
if you paint the polycarbonate black to match oem will industrial velcro still work??
Can you use this for a sky glider. Basically a large window on top of car
Hey, you should look in to riv-nuts for yours and junior's windows. Might make for an even cleaner look. Just a thought
That tutorial was money💵👍💸
Should post them on the site! For a decent price against others
def cant wait to see the backwindow lexan!
Are the puppies required?
How do I curve them so the door windows roll up and down is what I want to know? Pro Glass wants almost 800 bucks to make a pair and have to send the factory ones to them, in hopes they make there in one piece. and if U want to keep them to race in classes that require them U have to pay to have them shipped back in hopes of the same...
Is there a company out there that will make a lightweight plexiglass Type window for a 2004 GTO I want one for a windshield
Looking good bro.. my girl wants one of your script stickers in that rainbow/chameleon color a few videos ago
Clean man, clean. Thank god you are OCDish.
I might do this how thick lexan are you using? (Hope you reply)
Yeah good process and tips thanks
Video was mad helpful🔥
Impressive! Thank you for sharing!
I have a video of the Velcro Lexan windows on my integra 💪🏼💪🏼
Just saying, that file clip tip was genius!
Wow came out super sick I hope they paint the hatch to ouffffffff
Ordered my stickers and hopefully winning that valve cover, would look sick in my XSI
Where do you buy the Lexan from?
What is the thickness?
Can yoh tell me where to get that transfer paper you’re using
Lexan doesn't break when hit :)
what are the weight savings on one window like that compared to glass one, when you include the weight of the screws?
Just a rough guess but if he's using 1/8" lexan compared to glass I'd probably guess a good 8-10lbs on the smaller windows and maybe 25lbs or so for the front and back windows and say 12lbs for the bigger front windows if done
Great job on the lexan Windows bud! Back window is a little tough to do but do-able.
awesome video
The thickness ?
How thick?
This is amazing! Great video tutorial. I'm definitely doing this for my E36 track car. What thickness do you recommend?
I like this video, thats one of the next things for the EK.
yooooooo. this is niceeeeee. i like ur style.
Make me a set for my eg hatch
I was literally thinking about doing this today and boom you have a vid on it
Velcro not advised in wet climates.
God damn this is the best video out on making these sooooo helpful
Super clean detail bro! Hell yeah!! 🔥
@ 2:14 why cant i use plexiglass?
Also, lexan is a brand, why wouldn’t other brands of polycarbonate work?
Lexan has a way higher UV and impact resistance. I tried (for science) and within a few months it cracked, few weeks after I could snap it with two fingers
Where do I buy this sheet ? Home Depot ?
Great job! Great video!
How would I make new pannels to go on my door cause the stock
Ones are broken and I want my car to look clean
What's the plan with max lol, gotta get into the gambler 500 scene
Can't you form the lexan with a paint gun to mold it.
I want one, ill make a trip out there
Or the parts plug will bring me one.
How thick of lexan nhra
Dam brother awesome video. Hey would you make a set and sell them. I have an eg I'm building and would love these.
Damn they came out clean bro awesome job!!!
Sick windows keep up the good work
Saludos desde tijuana baja California
Where did you get your screws at for your car?
Best walkthrough on YT. Thanks. I am going to turn my '65 Buick Riviera door windows into Polycarbonate one piece windows instead of wing windows and square windows. They are pretty much just flat glass with no curve. What thickness would you recommend?
Nice 👍👍👍👍
Oh yea
why dont you keep the cut out of part of your window and use it for the next ones then you can just lay the cutout on your new sheet and take a rattle can of any color and just dust it inside of the cut out no tracing
Bad ass looks clean
How much video you have to edit out
DeadBeat GANG
Windows look good guys 😎 Very awesome tutorial!
Watching this Chicago time 530am lol
Hey bro you think you can make me a clean ecu cover? I rather buy one from you.
Looks good as always brother
You made it look so easy 🔥
I aint gunna get an answer here: how the hell do I cut the lexan to the right size if I don't have a window template to work with cuz some idiot dropped it. I don't trust myself to just free ball it and hope it fits inside all perfect
I'll take the cover in titan green if I win lol
Legit! The black paint is def the finishing touch most miss. Word bro!
You should look into damplifier Butyl Sealant Tape it would help with sealing the window also with dampening sound and vibration you also retain being able to remove the window if you wanted too
Where did you get the lexan an what did you pay ? I'm in phx to. Idk where to go to find lexan
Any one know what size bolts will work
Love the videos my guy .
that paper clip trick is awesome!!!!! its always nice to see what tricks and tips other mechanics have...
#stolen
Dogs, extension cords............'Give your neighbor a ruler, so he can tell us the thickness of the material.
Hey what's up man I'm Raymond I'm from Houston Texas I like the way you make those windows I don't have a steady hand to make them would you make me some and I'll pay the shipping and I'll pay you for making them I have a EG hatch as well
why replace the glass? thanks
