I have made it using the sanded clay from projects. I collected the dust in a tub and used some of that mixed with a small amount of water to make the slip. I keep the slip in a small glass jar with a lid as I made just a small amount to test if it works. I have used it to fuse the clay to foil, polystyrene and itself and it's worked really well

Dedicated coffee grinder to pulverize into powder use distilled water and few drops of white distilled vinegar or couple drops of isopropyl alcohol to keep mold out when mixing powder and liquid into slip.

I wish we had had Air Dry Clay to use when I was at school. We had to use the traditional kiln fired clay, but we weren't really taught HOW to use it, so most of the stuff we made just broke in the kiln!!! LOL 😄 To be honest, the teacher we had didn't know anything about clay at all!!! 🤣 She was an excellent Art teacher, but she was hopeless at Craft.

I keep all of my scraps of ADC in a small jar, which I turn in to a slip and or a gap filler. To get it into hard to get places I use a craft syringe to inject the ADC, I get it to a consistency of icing. I works extremely well. You just have to make sure you throughly clean the syringe, including the plunger with a rubber end When I work away from home on a project I take my jar of clay with me as well as all my other bits and pieces. Cheers
I add the broken bits to water, put on a lie and just set it aside for a day or so to rehydrate, then you can ix it up quite nicely. It's very handy to so many things.

I used a Milk Frother and attached the Plastic core found in the middle of a ModRoc roll with sticky tape....whipped up GREAT nice thick and creamy looking in about 10 Minutes

When I sand my pieces it creates a dust naturally. I gather that dust up and add it into my slip jar. Much easier to stir in the clay dust :). But if I am not sanding my pieces I will have to try your method here :)

Just water can slide about a bit, if the clay is still quite wet and fresh you could score and then blend the sides together, if fine a bit drier I like to add just a little slip but you might find you can skip this part

I had run out of clay and all i had was the slit so i took my slit took a small canvas and spread it all over my canvad and made a face on it and i let it dry it came out very nice ir came out to be a beautiful art

You can keep it yes, put a lid on, something like a jam jar is good, only thing to look out for is mold if you’ve had it a while, if it get’s too thick add a little more water, if it’s too thin leave the lid off a while
My son is making a project of the giants causeway, he has made the hexagonal pillars, we need to stick them to the painted base, (acrylic paint) will slip work to stick the Air dry clay pillars to the painted surface? Your advice would be greatly appreciated

Yes pop the lid on, and I actually use a much smaller jar so there is less surface area on top. It keeps a while as long as no bacteria gets in, otherwise it will go moldy
The creamy slip you made looks ideal for use with rigid moulds to make castings that are more robust than when plaster of Paris is used. Thanks for sharing!
I’m new at using air dry clay if I’m just working with moulds and need to attach two together say for a picture frame can I just use the glue I have? The frame is going to be against a backer. I feel you would know best. Ty.
Store it in a jar with the lid tight on, it will likely go a bit thicker over time but just add a little more water. As long as you put clean water in the mix it should last a good while, till your next project, just make a small amount like i did at a time and then keep topping it up as you need to 💜

I did mine overnight, but if you put a spoon in and shake well you could do in 2 hours, different brands vary too, but so many people asked me how to make air dry slip I made this little video, but you get it, it’s that simple clay and water 😊

Hi another question, I'm using Das clay and made a creature from Harry potter. To make the eyes nose and mouth I scored the face and wet it with water without slip. Is that OK?
If you add a capful of vinegar it helps break everything down to a beautiful smooth consistency. The vinegar also helps keep mold away.

I find it better to use something disposable to mix the clay. I used a plastic cup then put my slip in a sterilized jar to keep it

So I Need One spoon of water and two spoons of clay and I have to wait 2 hours until it's a Creamy consistence? Did I get It all?
I did mine overnight, but if you put a spoon in and shake well you could do in 2 hours, different brands vary too, but so many people asked me how to make air dry slip I made this little video, but you get it, it’s that simple clay and water 😊

Is this slip pipable? Say I wanted a frosting look, do you think I could use this in a piping bag with a nozle?
It would be if you work on the consistency till it came out just right, so it holds it’s shape and doesn’t fall but not too hard to pipe ❤️

Even if you left a big chunk in water and left it sit for ages it would soften and work, wonder why yours didn’t work, is it definitely regular air dry clay? ❤️
@@RedRockingBird It's the same one that you use, Das air dry clay. Tommorow I'll give it another try and i'll tell you the results. I think my mistake was with the water.

This isn’t strong enough I would have thought, as I’ve not tried it. I do paint it onto a clay pot like in my sgraffito video

Hi another question, I'm using Das clay and made a creature from Harry potter. To make the eyes nose and mouth I scored the face and wet it with water without slip. Is that OK?
