    If you add a capful of vinegar it helps break everything down to a beautiful smooth consistency. The vinegar also helps keep mold away.

    I have made it using the sanded clay from projects. I collected the dust in a tub and used some of that mixed with a small amount of water to make the slip. I keep the slip in a small glass jar with a lid as I made just a small amount to test if it works. I have used it to fuse the clay to foil, polystyrene and itself and it's worked really well

      I wish we had had Air Dry Clay to use when I was at school. We had to use the traditional kiln fired clay, but we weren't really taught HOW to use it, so most of the stuff we made just broke in the kiln!!! I keep all of my scraps of ADC in a small jar, which I turn in to a slip and or a gap filler. To get it into hard to get places I use a craft syringe to inject the ADC, I get it to a consistency of icing. I works extremely well. You just have to make sure you throughly clean the syringe, including the plunger with a rubber end When I work away from home on a project I take my jar of clay with me as well as all my other bits and pieces.

      Wonderful, I hope you are enjoying, yes put a lid on and it will keep a while, keep giving it a stir now and again, if it goes a bit thicker that’s ok too, I like it thick, but you can always add a little more water and stir, just won’t last forever but I find long enough 😁 happy crafting

      I store in a glass jar with the lid on, you can make a bigger batch if you need to, but I tend to make a few spoonfulls at a time as a little goes a long way. If no bacteria gets in it should last a really good length of time. I just prefer small batches.

    • @RedRockingBird
      @RedRockingBird  2 роки тому +6

      Thank you. I would say the smaller the jar the better with less air, if it goes a bit too thick you can just add a little more water, but I don’t keep it too long, making in small batches, as if you get any bacteria in it will go moldy!

    My son is making a project of the giants causeway, he has made the hexagonal pillars, we need to stick them to the painted base, (acrylic paint) will slip work to stick the Air dry clay pillars to the painted surface?
    Your advice would be greatly appreciated

      Fantastic, no, slip wouldn’t be strong enough, I’d use a super glue, or even PVA glue should be ok if it’s a school project and better for him to use. Happy crafting together, thanks for watching 😊🌸

    Do you recommend to close the lid, while its sitting for that hour? And also tos tore it for longer time?

    • @RedRockingBird
      @RedRockingBird  10 місяців тому +1

      Yes pop the lid on, and I actually use a much smaller jar so there is less surface area on top. It keeps a while as long as no bacteria gets in, otherwise it will go moldy

    • @RedRockingBird
      @RedRockingBird  3 роки тому +4

      Store it in a jar with the lid tight on, it will likely go a bit thicker over time but just add a little more water. As long as you put clean water in the mix it should last a good while, till your next project, just make a small amount like i did at a time and then keep topping it up as you need to 💜
