Much love from the U.K.
Hope you all enjoyed your run ashore in Pompey :)
I know the states have more than enough carrier support ships, but I'd love to see a British frigate or destroyer as part of the fleet. 🇬🇧🇺🇲
The 45s are getting fixed only 1 available nope the US Navy rules the waves and has downe from 1945.
Maybe in a few years when all the type 45s undergo improvement programs so they can actually keep pace without overwhelming the electrical.
They don't need our ships, we'd simply be token support to make us look like we're doing something's worthwhile.
Thank our previous 30 governments ....

THE FINAL COUNTDOWN-great aircraft carrier movie!
That's impressive 1188 feet long, more aircraft then a small airport and it fries my brain knowing it floats, i know its airpockets and design but
Is EMALS launching aircraft without them having to use their afterburners? That's very impressive if so...
The last navy fighter to have to use afterburners to launch was the F-14A. All fighters since then, including the F-14B and F-14D use dry power on the catapult to avoid melting the barrier behind them and to keep the deck safer for those working near the planes. Afterburner take offs are a Hollywood/publicity thing now for the most part.
Especially at 9:31

Absolutely excellent video - kudos!!! The real Top Guns.
I’m really looking forward to seeing what the “Trump Class” carrier looks like.

This sorta thing is why we shouldn't have started naming Carriers after politicians. It was bound to get to a controversial point. We should have kept naming them after famous battles.
Awesome carrier!
Great shots of a beautiful ship!!
Great footage! Watching a part of what running operations on a carrier is like is very impressive. Thanks for the content.
The navy guys are ok. They gave us a ride to the gulf and even shared their ice cream.
I served on the USS Coral Sea CVA 43. Loved seeing your photo of a new carrier. Interesting to see all of the aircraft moved to the hanger bay for the loading of supplies. Thanks for sharing.
My dad Roy Owens served on that same ship.

carrier never operates alone, there are 50 miles ships radius around the carrier, I was on a FF, submarine hunter supporting the carrier battle group.
China could only dream of operating a Carrier like this.
Don't laugh they have the largest Navy in the world right now larger than ours and getting larger by the day and give them time on their carriers, they'll get bigger as time goes on and they have hypersonic missiles that we cannot shoot down and they can take out a carrier faster than you can blink! As a fighter pilot they show us all this stuff to show us what we're up against and it's not pretty, China's main goal is World dominance and they pretty much own us right now everything you buy comes from China and they owe most of our politicians!
@@craig4867 you do realize most of their fleet is just coastal ships? they have hardly anything that can be considered "open water" combat.
@@legiox3719 yeah I know this I'm in the military, but they're getting bigger and bigger and stronger and stronger every day and China's objective is world domination and the more we sit around sucking our thumb the worst it is going to get! There's an old saying, if you want peace, prepare for war and we need to put china back into the Stone age otherwise it's going to come back to bite us badly! Have a nice day!
@@craig4867 first thank you for your service, but China to me is a paper tiger. They have no real world "war" experience since WW2. Building a military is nice and all, but having the logistical/leadership/capability experience to effectively operate one is another story. I don't even remember how much the US spends on logistics support units/structure alone.
@@legiox3719 that's a fatal mistake you just made and that is, never underestimate anybody and don't forget, China gave us problems in the Korean War and the Vietnam War and they haven't lost a man and I don't know how long but we have lost soldiers and a lot of soldiers and military personnel! They're no longer a paper tiger! They have hypersonic missiles now that can take out our ships and we have no defense against it and the military has admitted that because they're just too damn fast and they zig zag all over the place! They travel at speeds of over Mach 5 and they can be tipped with nuclear warheads! China wants world domination, not just Taiwan and if I was Taiwan, I would figure out a way to arm myself with nuclear weapons and that would stop China dead in it's tracks and the same applies to Australia! If General George Patton and Douglas MacArthur were alive today, they would have gone after China a long time ago! Unfortunately, we don't have military leaders like that anymore! They come across as weak!
No steam from the cats! Progress.
Wow the stats are incredible, thanks for sharing them!
We know it's Ford-class carrier because there are no smoke on the deck
After watching 270 days of the invasion of Ukraine....... Why is the US so scared of Russia? Ive been watching a clown show vs a I don't even know. Just seeing a hand holding the back of launch and recovery crew member landing a helicoptor at 9:00 while a jet lands aboard the carrier..... tells me all I need to know.
Bring the Storm 🥳
I’d like to see the time line of the next Gerald R Ford class aircraft carrier on how long it takes it to get to active duty. With all the growing pains of the USS Gerald R Ford had
Probably a lot less now that they've figured out things. I think now they're going to building two at a time instead just one since the issues have been resolved. But,it's still going to be at least 7 years from when the carrier is built to when it becomes active to when it becomes fully deployed.👍👍👍👍.
@@frank-ko6de I'm pretty certain that time is going to get cut down somewhat. Is I understand the JFK is being fitted out right now. The Enterprise is next and then the Miller is next after that the Miller is not due out supposedly until 2030 although I sincerely doubt it's going to be that long.
@@rolandmiller5456 The building of the ships are relatively quick. It's the sea trials and war readiness that takes time before the ships are deployed, regardless of when they are built.
I never understood why the carrier is in the lead of the strike group?
shouldn't it be in the middle or even behind it?

Why only have aircraft from the 70's on it? Is that really the best you could do for how much was spent on it?
Best carrier in the world, amazing work. Took awhile to get the kinks worked out, but in a time of such instability, glad to see her out and about.
Will be sad to see the Nimitz get retired as more Ford class come out. Maybe the US can sell them to allies like France who also operate nuclear carriers or maybe even now Australia since they will be choosing between UK or US submarines. Maybe even the UK since they have ports large enough. Would be a shame to see the Nimitz go to the scrap yard/or get reused like they did to make the some parts on the Ford class.
No one wants them. Too old and labour intensive.
The Nimitz, great as she is, is more than 50 years old and costs a LOT to run. No other Navy could afford to take her on. But I'm sure China would take her off your hands. They would love to take a giant American carrier to pieces and find out how everything works!
@@advanceaustralia3321 Always someone being negative. Glad you speak for the world. They require less maintenance then conventional carriers do to less fueling needs and less moving parts. The downside is though refueling takes much longer.

Just because you don’t like facts, don’t dismiss them as ‘negative’.
Australia and Canada would be far more interested in QE class supercarriers.
@@barrymiller3385 The George H.W. Bush, Ronald Reagan, Harry S. Truman, John C. Stennis, George Washington and so on are nowhere near 50 years old. France has nuclear carriers... Why could they not afford it? Australia, the UK, etc have nuclear submarines(in AUS case are getting them), they could also afford it, as they would just have to pay to maintain it which is 234 million a year or 11.7 billion over 50 years.
Why bring up China?
"For perspective, a 1998 U.S. GAO report estimated the 50 year direct operating cost of a Nimitz class carrier at $11.7 billion, or about $234 million per year."

And how to defend this ship against 10 Iran Drones shooting missiles at it all at once? 10 or 20 of those Iran Drones Russia is using in Ukraine can swarm this ship and endanger it.
Lol no. A carrier is never alone. They travel in a battle fleet. The aegis radar on the destroyers would see the drones a couple hundred miles out and launch SM2s that would destroy the drones well before they were in range to drop their own payload.
Each AB class destroyer has 32 cells for ESSMs alone, which are quad packed, meaning 1 single destroyer carries 128 ESSMs among it's other missiles. They have also tested nuclear bombs on a aircraft carriers and it didn't sink.
"After the war, Independence became part of a fleet used to measure the effects of atomic bomb tests at Bikini Atoll in the Pacific on July 1, 1946. It sat just 560 yards from ground zero in the first test, a 23-kiloton air blast of a fission bomb similar to the one used over Nagasaki, Japan, a year earlier, according to the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization. Twenty-four days later, Independence was 1,390 yards from the center of a second atomic blast -- also a 23-kiloton device but an underwater detonation.
The ship was later brought back to California for nuclear decontamination before being sunk during the weapons training in 1951."

Is it the largest? The USS Theodore Roosevelt is said to be 104,600 long tons, notable greater than the estimated 100,000 tons of the Gerald R Ford.
Ford class is longer and has a bigger beam. Older systems weighed more increasing weight.
That carrier has been badly designed, the 'island' should've been built to completely hang over the side and so clearing the entire deck area for aircraft, any imbalance would be corrected by ballast deep in the hull = all ship designers can thank me later !

Hypersonic missiles can't maneuver and wont be used on a moving target.
@@ThatCarGuy you have the def wrong hypersonic missile are missile able to dodge AA and reach speed of Mach 5 ballistic missile are missle on a set course and are unmenuverable
@@somerandomguy1475 Hypersonic missiles wont be used on ships do to their lack of maneuverability, Russia patent below stating they can't maneuver, need to shut their engines off, can lose stability and even self destruct coming back down to it's target. But first lets do some math. Zircons top speed is mach 9 right? Converting to km/s that is about 3km/s. Say you wanted to move a single degree for 5 seconds at 3km/s you would be off course 15km... Almost as much as the Chinese test missed by.
"Russian patent number 2579409 relates to the field of rocket technology, and more specifically to hypersonic cruise missiles equipped with a hypersonic ramjet engine. The invention describes a method of application and device hypersonic cruise missile, allowing to solve the problem of performing a combat mission to destroy ground and surface targets of such a missile. The described invention is designed to maximize the combat potential of the combat module with the scramjet.
The design mode for the scramjet are high-altitude cruise conditions while maintaining the estimated cruise speed, and the need to reduce the altitude and flight speed creates difficult technical problems due to the fact that:
an engine designed to perform a hypersonic mid-flight at high altitude is not able to continue to work at low-altitude trajectory sections associated with a decrease in the flight number M, hence, the rocket must approach the ground or surface target with an inactive engine;
characteristics of sustainability and controllability of the combat module with inactive scramjet significantly deteriorate, loss of stability becomes possible;
there is also a danger of destruction of the scramjet design due to the increase in pressure in the flow part of the engine while reducing the Combat module from the march height before hitting the target."
@@ThatCarGuy even if hypersonic missile can’t menuver computer can always predict movement path with CV being huge plus human judgement and error the CV most likely will not be able to react in time even tho it will most likely be a suicidal mission for pilots the result out weights the lost
@@somerandomguy1475 the only way a hypersonic missile would be able to hit it, is if it not moving. Otherwise let's do more math. Say a ship firing a zircon missile is 600km away. The zircon top speed is mach 9, which converts into roughly 3km/s as stated above. 600km divided by 3km/s is 3 minutes and 33 seconds. That's without taking into account the time it takes to reach max speed, which I can't do the math for since air density, weather, etc are different depending where they are. So you are looking at over 5 minutes to respond, which is more then enough time to either move, or fire off SM-6 missiles to defend. Nothing is perfect. Everything has pros and cons. To beat a CSG you need a barage of sea skimming cruise missiles which fly under the radar horizon giving radars minimal time to react. This is why all nations still use subsonic cruise missiles, each type has their pros and cons and is good for a different scenario. Hypersonic missiles are good for hitting stationary targets from a close range. That then give the defender almost no time to react.
