2018 Stelvio sport owner here, 41k miles, never never never had one single issue. Super happy, wife loves it. Gonna drive it till the wheels fall off.
Well I hope you wouldn't have any issues at 41k miles. Those are baby miles. I average 30k a year on a daily driver. Report back when your at 150k
@@LBCosmicConcerns150k on your Stelv?
I'm still in a 159 ti waiting till the wheels fall off, it's been 14 years no issues. Hurry up and fall off so I can upgrade!
Keep her well serviced and you'll have no issues!
My 2.0L Giulia was the best car I ever owned, super reliable, comfortable, and fun. I regret selling it and would absolutely get another. Just wish the depreciation wasn't so brutal.
that is exactly why I dumped my broken QV to BMW the trade in was at retail and they took a broken car with no warranty so it made sense. Same with the Stelvio the depreciation is bad on these now so it was time to get a new one before it hit rock bottom.
@@autofanaticcars here Giulia keeps the value quite well, i bought a used one 6.5 years old for 21000€ (low mileage and great conditions) and the msrp back then for my exactly configuration was 38000€ but in 2016 peoples get price cuts... so i would said it keeps is value so well
@@Tonyx.yt. in which country did you buy the car?
@@autofanaticcars @frumpd63 "Giulia was the best car I ever owned, super reliable"
Then you go and say that's exactly why you got rid of it and say it was UNRELIABLE, did you even read the post?
@@nexushexus4365 Got rid of it because of depreciation. Can you even read?
These comments are making me happy because I’m about to buy/ pick mines up Wednesday
Great car, leasing my second Stelvio, now. Resale value is very low.
Me tooooo! Just picked mine up today 🎊 🎉😊
How it is now?
We literally just said goodbye to our 2018 Stelvio Ti Sport as well. 5 year ownership experience and 50K miles. Wonderful vehicle.
what did you replace it with?
@@autofanaticcars We went with the Volvo XC90 T6 Inscription. Needed the extra space as the family grew. Miss the Stelvio already.
A rav 4. 😂😂😂
How much trade-in value did you get?
How much did you sell it?
Buying a used Stelvio Ti sport in a few days, agree this car is unlike anything I've drove before! the driving dynamics are fantastic ! is wonderful
Enjoy!
Thinking about getting a used one as well. What year did you get ? How is it going ?
Just bought a 2019 Stelvio with 34k miles 2days ago and love it.I also bought a extended warranty. thanks for sharing your experiences
Great to hear!
How much did you pay for extended warranty if you don’t mind me asking. I’m about to purchase a 2019 with 34k
Mind if I ask is everything good up to now to your Stelvio? I’m also considering now
The Alfa is that one car that you always look back at. That's for sure. Love mine, but my next one will be the QV.
But you need a mechnic friend you gonna need it ..
I have a 4C - just bought a 2018 Stelvio - I work in the industry, drive everything, but the Stelvio aced every SUV I tried, in most cases, by a margin. I raced Alfa in the nineties, so I have a long relationship with the brand. Very few cars these days have character. These do 👌
4C are awesome i missed boat to but one new
@@autofanaticcars Buy used - it’s an unbelievable little car 🥰
Any issues with your 2018 so far? I'm about to buy one with ~46000 miles, so I'm kind of scared but at the same time I'm getting it for $20k
That white red combo is amazing that's what I got on my stelvio ti sport Nero package with incredible 61,000 miles on it, no problems at all is our daily driver .
thanks for sharing your experience with us, where do you live and have you had any minor issues with yours?
I live in Tampa, Florida, so far no issues man with love the handling.
Is your annual maintenance cost pretty fair?
Well i have a 2018 Giulia 2.0 Mair and i love it. I drive Alfas from 1990 so i can say this is the best driving and best quality Alfa ever. One time however it let me down. Took the dealer several hours to find out a connector from the BCM was bad. It still is a keeper!
My first brand new car was a Stelvio I leased for my company..oh boy I regret not buying that out in 2020. That car lead me to this channel and the QV and now I own a Gulia Quad 2020. Luckily I think a lot of the kinks have been worked out since 2017 but I love the Stelvio. The new Maserati Grecale Trofeo is basically a luxury model of the Stelvio and im excited to check it out.
Hi Mike, I’m looking for a used one. From which year should I look for. Heard they get a lot better from 2019.
I’m about to get one so I’m watching videos, and so far everything I’ve seen is reassuring. The one I’m getting is a 2018 stelvio Ti sport with 89k on it. Red on red.
Did you get it?
We've owned four new Alfa Romeos. My 2019 Giulia QV has been bullet proof. Our Stelvios have all been bullet proof as well.
Very helpful wrap up. I’ll send link to a friend who really wants to get a Stelvio. The red seats plus red door cards and lower dash really make it special. Looking forward to learning what’s different about the new model. Was really surprised to learn how rough the ride is. Appreciate the recommendation on which model to get.
My wife enjoys her Stelvio Veloce very much. It has been an excellent vehicle. No issues. It has been a very good SUV.
Thanks for sharing
Great well rounded review of a destined Classic. You also got a great deal on your new 2023. Can I ask what dealer you purchased it from? Thanks😊
contact my dealer friends of Alfa Romeo Strongville OH ask for Mike or Doug tell them I sent you
I bought my Stelvio 2017 from Germany last year with 88 th km mileage and it is absolutely ok in harsh Moscow winter, where the fuel and the roads are not like in Germany:) after 1 year all is good
My 2019 Stelvio has been flawless. My dealer replaced the batter under warranty. I noticed that my red brake calipers have faded a bit. I also noticed the silver paint on the 20” wheels has started to flake off only one wheel. The only money I’ve spent on the Stelvio is a set of new tires. The SUV has been reliable and economical. It’s been a joy to own and drive my Stelvio.
Tony thanks for sharing your ownership experience with us all here. The calipers has been an issue since 2017 on the Alfa in red however on the 4C it seems not to be an issue only on the Giulia and Stelvio. The paint flaking might be from a wheel that was repaired at the dealer prior to you buying it years ago this is all so common these days as the OEM finish rarely fails that quickly. We just took delivery of our 2023 Stelvio Veloce and love it I will have a full video up soon highlighting the changes on the new models versus the 2019.
My 2018 Ti Sport with Performance Package in Misano Blue with Chocolate interior has been pretty bulletproof. I've had one electrical issue solved by a TSB update (left turn signal would come on while ignition was off resulting in a discharged battery) and needed the infotainment replaced on a separate TSB because features on the Monroney label were not working due to having an incorrect version of the hardware.
My paint was ruined by a gravel truck who failed to tarp their load resulting in over 300 separate rock strikes on the front clip which required a respray and new front glass. These cars seem to have very thin and brittle paint. During this process my other warranty issue occurred when the body shop cracked my radiator requiring a replacement. Cosmetically the PPF I added seven months after the respray peeled some paint during an attempt to replace some damaged film. Alfa paint seems to be a weak point in general.
I love this car and plan on keeping it until at least 2026. I'm in the process of doing a Eurocompulsion stage 2 tune on the car.
Thanks for the video. Useful info.. I'm currently looking at a 2018 alfa romeo stelvio ti sport awd with 70K on the odometer. I'm hesitant, but also excited when thinking of owning one.
In the process of buying one similar to this one I can’t wait hopefully it’s worth it!!!
I have a 21’ stelvio ti sport with 30k miles on it so far, only had a problem with electronic throttle control at 7k which warranty covered. Other than that I’ve loved every second of it. Easily the best suv I’ve driven in so far
mine has too on 56k miles, what was the problem ? how did they fix it ? Thanks !
Polish the calipers and then apply AMMO gelee pro. That should protect the paint and keep them looking fresh long term
Beautiful car. I have the same Stelvio in Red. Thank you for doing these videos!
Glad you like them!
Just purchased a 2022 Stelvio Veloce, yesterday, black with red leather. Are you in long island, NY looks like where I live.
Congrats how do you love it so far? I am over the bridge in Westchester
Wow. That’s the best combo imo. I wish you could attach a picture.
Nice to hear you like the Stelvio. I own the Giulia Sport TI (wife's car) as well as the Giulia QV. They are both 2018. I have not had any issues with either of these. The QV has the carbon seats and carbon ceramic brakes with stock tires. I am really sorry to hear about your QV. In my case, I have a great local Alfa Romeo-Maserati dealership. Perhaps, this is one reason I have not had any issues with the QV .There are some conflicting reviews with QV, but I have had no issues, and I bring it in the dealership twice a year for regular maintenance - I do change the oil twice a year. I think you were unlucky, however, you did tinker with it quite a lot. All I did was ask the dealership to keep the exhaust note (from RACE) on, all the time - it was a 30 minute job and just as reversible without any warranty concerns., I really enjoy the "RACE" sound on all the driving modes. All the best with your new Stelvio.
Thx for the vid! And, mostly addressing the QF versus non QF. I might end up with my first Alfa later this year after being a multiple Volvo owner...but, Volvo's new EV's are literally stupid. Plus, I am obsessed about the cockpit experience and the Stelvio and Guilia seem to hit all the boxes for what I am looking for in a cockpit. I was seriously considering a 2023 QF new because you can buy them for $20K discount but your real world comparison got me back on track and I think the Stelvio Competizione is the right choice for me. Like your example, I can still get $30K for my used Volvo because of the strong used card market (the MSRP of my Volvo was $80K+) and getting into a 2024 Competizione is a reasonable strategy.
Go for it you won’t regret it
my '21 Stelvio Sport Ti white/black/red is a spectacular machine and draws lots of attention where I travel. Trouble free btw.👍👍
Replacing after 34k miles, wow. Nice. My car has to go 250k before I shell out more $$$
Can't wait to see the new stelvio. I've been following the channel since the Q50 Red Sport. I have 1.5 years of warranty left on my Ghibli, and I've been thinking about what I'm going to trade it for. It has 56k miles, so I'm probably going to get pennies for it on a trade. I want an M550i, but after testing driving it, I must say that there is something about the Italian cars that is just more engaging. They have charisma. The M550i just didn't have that even though it's a better car on paper.
Yeah the Ghiblis and Alfa drop like bullets but if you want something new consider the Alfa QV or even the BMW M3 i honestly love my new M3 the BMW 5 series is a bit too big for me the M3 is the size of an older 5 series and is perfect to daily
@autofanaticcars I considered a QV when I was buying the ghibli, but I needed awd. If the QV was awd, I would've had one despite the issues they seem to have. I'm way up north in NJ, and we get some decent snow here in the higher elevations. I'm considering the M3, and I've been watching your content on it as it may be my next daily driver. Even though the M3 is better in every aspect than the Ghibli, everyone keeps me telling me it's a step down overall to get a BMW, but that's not true. It's the Maserati badge playing tricks on them lol. I'll be following along to see how everything goes with your M3. Best of luck.
@@R.London It's not the Maserati badge playing tricks. You've tested the M550i yourself and noticed the step down. BMW are fairly good, they just miss the special flare, the emotion. But I believe dynamically they're also very competent which is something we sadly don't find easily outside Italian brands.
Do you recc swapping for a bettery battery brand ? I heard the battery causes a lot of misfires and issues with the dashboard lighitng up
Video regarding the battery swap on this channel if you search
I just sold my 2019 Mustang for more than I bought it off my lease by almost 30%. I have been looking at these and wanted to know what to look out for. This video helped me to know certain things to look for. Car looks beautiful and I'm heading to a dealer in a couple of days. I'm in NY as well, lmk if there's anything I should say look out for at the dealer.
There's a 2021 ti awd with 20k miles at a local Bentley dealership for $33k might get one of these instead of an Audi SQ5
I am also facing the same situation with the downshifting - 2018 Stelvio Ti Sport as well. I've noticed sometimes the car will lurch forward/feel like the brake pads are getting stuck for a split second sometimes during stop and go traffic. I still love it though lol so fun to drive
if you do take yours in for service please post what the remedy was for the lurch it seems to be a software issue or the adaptation values are getting messed up but none the less its a great car.
I have the same issue, sometimes its shocking during driving traffic jam only when its hot weather. I use always premium fuel ESSO.
That could be a lot of things. Most expensive being the transmission I believe. But it could be dirty fuel injectors. Spark plugs etc etc have you got it diagnosed?
You ever learn what it was?
Only issue I had was 36k miles the car went crazy saying low oil and went into limp mode had it towed to Alfa Romeo and was a womping $4800 to get fixed!!! Ended up being a sensor issue they said the sensor has mesh on it and gets dirty over time
Wow can you get more specific on the repairs and failure location? Why did it cost so much
Amazing review, subscribed.
Much appreciated! tons of Alfa content on this channel on the Stelvio and Giulia models i own and maintain.
Got a 2020 sport . Love it❤
Thank you guys; great review.
Tip a dealer gave me for those kick marks on the hard plastic is a mr.Clean magic eraser
gotta be careful with the magic eraser as it can easily polish and shine up the plastic
Pretty close to picking up a Stelvio Q 😎 worried all the bad reviews. Drove a used 2019 and grabby brakes and no power down low main negatives
they have power down low the car you drove might have been a bad one. crazy how the QV still suffer reliability issues still.
Hello. I would like to ask what should be paid attention to when buying a used Stelvio? diesel or gasoline engine is the better choice? Thanks
I have a '21 Stelvio, monte carlo blue with black leather. Love it, no issues, drove it cross country twice and it did amazing, even with the back full of stuff. I got a mopar extended warranty quote at $2k for up to 8 years / 85k miles. Do you think that's worthwhile given depreciation?
the warranty thing that bothers me is the deductible, when i spoke to Mopar warranty over this they said if the car needs a tow that would cost me $200 deductible for that instance and when it gets to the dealer any work performed would require another $200. Not sure how accurate this is but this seems ridiculous and not worth it to me to keep any car past the warranty period.
@@autofanaticcars the deductible payments do seem a little absurd. I had my last car for nine years, so I'm used to keeping them around for a little longer. I'm considering whether the $2k and $200 possible payments would be a decent tradeoff for the peace of mind
I keep telling people that these are great cars . They just don't get the respect that they deserve.
it is the stigma of bad dealers and people having issues similar to my experience with my QV for 4+ years. These are the best value in the SUV segment i feel and now is the time to buy one, leasing makes no sense anymore with the rebates they offer on a purchase
😂oh shit bro you live near me, I know that road you drove on. However thanks for the review, been looking to get a giulia or stelvio. I always here people saying it’s unreliable but then those who own one say otherwise
So I should buy one of these never heard of it until now wow ????? Did you get a new one yet?
i had a 76 Alfetta sedan, rusted away by 1999 with only 40k-ish miles. i adore the recent Alfas re-introduced to the US market, best looking cars out there. But are these going to hold to the test of time?
How’s car insurance on this ? Like if you buy a certified preowned one and have full coverage how much is it a month on average ?
Petrol or diesel engine is the best choice? Which is the best engine?best construction?
Hi there, just got mine 2020 stelvio Ti sport. What tune and suspension would you recommend?
I'm in the market for a stelvio Ti sport, same color combo, hoping for 20k to 25k miles.
How many miles are on this one, 34xxx? I'm looking for a bit more detail on that lurching transmission issue that you mentioned, as well as the noises/rattles inside the cabin.
im debating between a 2020 stelvio or 2021 mercedez gla
💚🤍❤️ Alfa Romeo 👍
regarding the brake(ish) and ECU system, which company do you think developed that...?
Great video and I have not had any issues with my 2019 Giulia 2.0 either. Quick question: you mentioned you might PFF the windshield glass, will that help eliminate rock chips? I just repaired a chip on my windshield (wasn't large, but was a little deep) so I was wondering for future reference. Thanks!
the window film supposed to help rock chips so this time around I may do it since we had our windshield replaced
You should put the upgraded turbo from Alfissimo. That middle model is lacking in the lineup. Alfa not investing behind the Stelvio so we have to do it. The quad is out of this world and the new Maserati is not as edgy. The 2.0 Stelvio, it is so versatile, reliable, low-ish cost to maintain and still a blast to drive.🍀
What are you averaging as fast as MPGs?
Hey I’m little confused I Todd you don’t have the Alfa anymore? Thanks to you I did buy my 2019 Stelvio and it’s been great thanks God! I live in Newburgh if you change the car will you tell me where did you leave this so I can buy it for my wife?😬🙏🏻
Bom conteúdo 👌👍💪 forte abraço de Portugal .
I ❤️Alfa👋👋💪🏻👍🏻👏
the US are getting insane discounts on this model, too bad they cost +200% in my country
getting rid of my 2019 lease. Vroom just offered me 29k. I have 26.5k miles on it. Buyout is 26.2.
Great car, but going to lexus for comfort.
Lexus is all about comfort for sure but you will miss the Stelvios dynamic handling which no other SUV can offer, we looked at so many cars to replace it and we just kept coming back to getting another Stelvio for the size, handling and value.
I LOVE REAL LEATHER
Me too!
What kind of mats you said you had in your beautiful car?
These are the mats we use amzn.to/3BpkPQS
Best suv ever
Anyone had any issues where in auto from a stand still the gearbox doesn't shift up until you use the paddles? Only happens occasionally and have sort of got used to it? Trying to get evidence for the dealership isn't so easy!
Can someone please show me how to hook up the CTEK battery conditioner on a 2018 Stevo. thank you
What does the back cargo area look like?
Hardest decision would be the color options for a new one. Love my Anodized Blue Metallic & red gut.
yeah they pulled many colors and options for the 2023 model but I think the white on red full leather package will be a nice upgrade with the exterior gloss black trim
Yes newer Alfas are reliable but that white Acura on the side of the road wasn’t.
The Grecale would be my option as well. It's a Stelvio close cousin, save Giorgio platform but much bigger and with a richer interior. The Grecale is possible the bigger SUV in this segment.
we went to look at the Grecale i posted a video weeks back we liked the interior and tech but it did not drive as sharp and sporty as the Stelvio and we really did not want or need a bigger SUV without the handling .
@@autofanaticcars I understand.
I was hoping the handling to be similar despite the extra size and weight due to the Giorgio platform sharing.
Maybe the steering isn’t as direct as the Stelvio and the suspension is more tuned for comfort.
yeah i was really expecting the Grecale to feel like a Stelvio but it does not at all in any way whatsoever. i also think the Maserati buyer does not want a razor sharp handling SUV and more for style and comfort
Not many people can't afford to buy a new car every four years.
How many miles did you rack up? Im at 38,500 and no warranty. Trying to decide whether to keep it or trade in.
get a new one they are much improved for comfort and features
Overtaking in the right lane gives me chills as someone who's used to drive on civilized Autobahn.
Such a beautiful, unusual spec.
It really is!
The "stigma" that modern Alfas have to deal with is silly.
$10K off of MSRP? New or used?
Sounds like a transmission issue with the lurch geez. That's how i had an old volvo die.
How many miles were on it?
Great to hear all of the cudos to the Stelvio! Rare to hear this about any car after 4 years. I have also had a great experience with my rare all black 2019 Black Nero Pkg. Sport Ti , with 46,500 mi. Never a problem, just put on new brakes and a battery, that’s it! Best handling SUV for the price and most fun to drive. PERIOD. I have owned BMW and my wife owns a Mercedes C 300 SUV, nice but boring. Should I sell and get a new one or keep and hope for no big cost hits?
Far too many whistles and bells for my liking.
I'll keep my 1988 Alfa 75 2.0TS. The funny handbrake and odd positioning of the power window switches are just a designers whim. I can live with them.
I want a buy one this month but my friends kept saying otherwise…. Very unreliable, broke down easily etc ? Idk
@autofanatic... you sold your Quad? What happened?
the Alfa supplied battery has been causing so many issues...once I replaced my battery with a non-Alfa battery...it's been trouble free
exactly which is why I will be replacing the OEM battery ASAP with the Interstate just for piece of mind
@@autofanaticcars Did you replace it with a AGM battery ?
My 2018 Stelvio Ti after a 3 year lease with 50k plus was nearly spotless in the reliability department. Our replacement 2021 ti sport with only 13k on the odometer has been a non-stop electrical gremlin shit show
wow did you have the battery replaced as this is a main cause of issues on these cars
@@autofanaticcars Yes I did..No difference
wow so what sort of issues are you having is the car shutting off when driving this was my issue with my QV for 3 years and I was forced to get rid of it for safety reasons.
@@autofanaticcars Mirrors not folding out, parking sensors going off by themselves, Navigation screen freezing, remotes not responding, front ACC camera unavailable, completely dead battery after parked for only a few hours, non-stop check engine light (P1CEA) code etc
Oh and the latest one this morning: parking light out-checked all lamps and they are ok lol
why not Porsche Mecan?? heard handling is the best, any thoughts? always appreciate your videos, love my 2018 Stelvio tricoat competizion red, extended warranty ending this year so i need to look for my next SUV
Macan is nice but the cabin is much smaller in the rear seats and storage and the Stelvio drives a bit sharper.
You bought 2 Giulias and 2 Stelvios the next one should be on the house
ha ha i wish but the Stelvio has been great so it made sense to get another one that is a bit more refined to continue enjoying
Are you selling any parts?
already sold
@@autofanaticcars how many miles did it have on it and what year was it? The warranty expires in 19 days on my 17 Giulia with 51k miles on it. I'd like to keep it and don't plan on purchasing an extended warranty.
Ours is a 2019 too
I think the design is pretty mid, but statistically it seems like a better use of money than a range rover (though rhey hold their value far better)
I have 2019 Lusso, same suspension... rough
testing out new tires this week will have a video on ride comfort etc so stay tuned, the tires do have a great impact on roughness on this platform
Everyone is praising this Stelvio yet they are scared shiiiitless to own it past warranty. Grow a pair. LoL I do like it and looking for the right one. Black with red interior is the bomb.
if you own one past the warranty you will be upside down money wise, the depreciation kicks in bad after 3 years, warranty extension is thousands of dollars and it just is not worth it unless your willing to keep it 10 years which nobody does today
I got one still under warranty but I’m keeping it after I got 10 months left may purchase an extended may not
@@autofanaticcarsI got a 2022 Ti with 7300 miles for 36k and bought 8 year 100k extended warranty for 3500. Think it’s good. Nothing but a Macan drives like this.
bro is on the westchester ny highway
Might be better to just lease these for 3 years if you are going to keep buying and selling.
Sounds like the cars falling apart. Ur getting rid of it at the right time. 👍🏾
NYC roads destroy cars quick i never keep cars longer than 2 years up until the last few years with the world events taking place
X3M Comp Pkg coming🤔
Those ride like absolute garbage he would hate it
100% correct they ride horrible on NY roads the M3 is so much better. The X4 M440i was nice but nothing in stock
I AM THE TRUTH AND I SEE SI MANY LIES TGAT THIS IS A GOID CAR I LOVE HERE IN WINNIPEG
ALL THE PEOPLE THAT DEAL WITH THIS DEALERSHIP HAVE MAJOR PROBLEMS WITH HOW IT TAKES 5 months to get parts
And alpha Romeo’s leave you stranded a lot
As a brand new car that’s what they do
Look deeply into this car before you get a lemon alpha Romeo
Looks like an Italian Mazda lol
Yeah. No.
Alot of miles on the car...34K😅
34k miles of NYC miles is about 150k miles living in FL or somewhere else with perfectly smooth roads the NY roads shake the hell out of cars and prematurely wear the suspensions and rest of the car down quick
