I have Stelvio 2018 a year. I still don't understand why people in general complain About Alfa's reliability. I have zero issue during my ownership 😍🥰

the 2.0 do have issues with burning oil and with the lack of dipstick and most owners are not even checking oil levels it can cause the engines to grenade. I am obsessive with upkeep so for me not an issue but consider the older lady who would drive it all year burning oil and never checking to one day BOOM but overall the cars are reliable

@@autofanaticcarsquestion about the dipstick. Both my Audis (A5, A6) didn’t come with a dipstick but there was a plug to where the dipstick is supposed to live. It has a digital oil level display but I was able to purchase an aftermarket dipstick. I’m gonna assume that the Alfa doesn’t even have a tube going to the plan. Correct?

My daughter bought a 21 Stelvio. I told her to drive one before she bought an X3 or a Q5. She loves it. My issue with it is that you are strongly discouraged from doing your own maintenance. I have changed the oil and you have to have special equipment to work around the security to reset the maintenance indicator. I changed the cabin filter too, that is a PIA. It’s a really nice vehicle for the money.

In no small part due to your coverage of Alfa Romeo I decided to buy a used 2020 Stelvio (16k Ti Lusso) about 9 months ago over X3. Here is some general observations and thoughts for potential buyers after 7k miles. Not a single mechanical issue or check engine light, also original battery is still going strong. No rattles or creeks despite being driven in the North East (multiple frost/thaw cycles). However some rubber seals and weather-stripping have questionable durability. I replaced inner door seal and B pillar passenger door strip needs to be replaced in the future as driver side has excessive road noise. Find good euro independent mechanic to do service maintenance. I pay about $120 vs $250 (dealer) for an oil change and $200 vs $350 break flush. I have a second of wheels with Blizzaks tires and this car is beast in the snow (A mode especially). I live in Buffalo so when my wife gets up early in the morning to work at a hospital and streets still unplowed that means I can stay in bed instead of shoveling driveway :). I love using info system rotary dial (with Android Auto) and barely ever use touch the screen. I believe its much safer as you always keep you eyes on the road. Column mounted paddles are awesome, my wife first said "What a hell is this?" :). Now she is used to them. Back up camera is terrible, not much of an issue, unless you park in tight spaces on city streets. Should have been upgraded in a mid cycle refresh. White exterior (Trofeo White) is a PITA to maintain especially with body colored fenders, but there is a price to pay for beauty. So go darker or the red color looks great.
Overall I think Italians engineers did a fantastic job designed Giorgio Platform, but FCA corporate did an appalling job in marketing and support. Back in 2018 when I bought my previous small/compact SUV I wasnt even aware of Stelvio/Guilia. Saw my first one a few years back and it instantly caught my eye. Now I see a couple of them everyday. Whats the point of having one the best products on the market if no one knows about it? Anyways, thanks for taking the time.

Just wanted to say love you're channel. Been watching for a couple months and helped me do my research on these cars with the gorgio platform. I initially was going to get a gulia ti sport. But ended up going with a stelvio because I needed the cargo space for my DJing side business. I just bought a 2020 Stelvio Ti sport this past Saturday in Montecarlo blue very well specced. Going to get an extended warranty on it and PPF the front and keep it for a while, haven't had it for long but I already love it. Mainly for the handling. Thanks for all the videos, and keep doing your thing, not many channels are as entertaining and informative from a real car enthusiasts view like yours.

The alfa dealer i got it from already replaced the battery for me, and did the 40k mile service even though the car has 20k miles on it. All done before I bought it. I might run it for a bit to see how long it will last and keep on eye on the auto start stop feature. And I will definitely get that scanner, as well as those floor mats, it seems a lot easier to clean than weather techs, and they look much nicer and seem to fit the interior better style wise compared to weather tech's. @@autofanaticcars

Also i'm probably going to do the oil changes my self every 5k miles because I've heard that helps a lot with any possibility of oil burning issues and obviously keep an eye on oil level because I am also a fanatic when it comes to my cars. That is why my previous car, a very modded 2016 Focus ST drove me nuts, all the squeeks and rattle and every two weeks something would go wrong.@@autofanaticcars

when you do the oil fill slowly and check the silly level on the dash screen these cars are so easy to overfill if you try to get the dash gauge to read 100% it will throw a fault overfilled but let the level remain at 3/4 is what I have learned with these over the years

2018 Stelvio Ti Sport owner - I too have that cold start noise you mentioned but as you said I haven’t noticed any drivability complications. However I unfortunately woke up the other day to the “infamous” dead vehicle and believe it’s the battery, but I also can’t complain because I’m certain it’s the original battery from 2018. I ordered the Interstate AGM MTX-49/H8 battery that most people on the forums recommend so fingers crossed that everything will be just fine after that! No other problems.

In my Stelvio 2021 I had an issue with HVAC coolant seal, which had to be replaced and refilled to make HVAC work properly. Also the factory installed battery died exactly 2 years after I've bought the car. It was spectacular and scary to see how all of the electronics freaks out when the voltage suddenly dropped and you are bombarded by 10 various errors. Finally some metallic bracket has fallen apart inside of the passenger mirror, so now I hear a disgusting rattle when I close the door while standing outside. And replacing the whole mirror just doesn't make sense sinse it's fully functional.

Hey autofanatic. You mention you also own an AMG and BMW M car, plus a Giulia Quadrifoglio. (amazing collection btw). Anyway, I’d be very interested in seeing a video from you comparing those three cars - idk, maybe they’re not direct competitors with each other (maybe they are!), but what do you see the as the pros and cons of those vehicles/brands compared to each other. That would make a great video. Thanks for your content.

Love my 2020 Stelvio Ti Sport (was top trim after Quad that year) and like yours it's Trofeo White with Red but in the earlier Stelvios (before they cheaped out in 2022) the Red seats came with tasty RED ACCENTS on the door cards, lower dash, center console, contrast red stitching on the steering wheel, gear shift lever and door cards and dash !! This one looks like they plucked the red seats out of a salvaged car and plopped them in . Sorry dog, but the older interiors were WAY NICER !!

The only value I see for this car is it’s one of the best used cars to buy. Because it depreciates so much, and nothing is practically new from 2020 - present. So it’s a super great deal to buy used models.
I don’t think it really competes with 50-60k market, but it is really good within 20-30k market

Maybe that gas station had too much ethanol in their tanks. It’s cheaper for them and we get scammed. Your cars r not flex-fuel. They r all high performance.
Too much ethanol burns too hot and burns the valves. That’s why engines knock and trip the computer

Surprised your passenger door panel leather is that unsightly. Don't you use a good leather conditioner on all of the surfaces?? Also the gloves make no sense to me. If you are worried about contamination/germs from the gas pumps just use a hand sanitizer after you pump gas. The gloves probably aren't cleaned after each use so those germs you're worried about are on the gloves now and you're touching them with your bare hands everytime you put them on and take them off when you pump gas.

    • @autofanaticcars
      @autofanaticcars  3 місяці тому +1

First off the gloves are disposable and new ones used every time and hand sanitizer does not kill all pathogens and is not good to continually use. The leather got that way from leaving window cracked by accident in rain no conditioner will fix that
