Awesome score man!!! Way cool that you knew what these things were!!!! I started a wrecking yard back in the 70's. In a town in New Mexico. Parts like these were still laying around in shops and garages everywhere there was an old hot rodder. I had several barns/shops full of old parts like this. I will say my hoard was more on the GM direction of nostalgia. But blowers, racing engine parts, engine parts of most any thing you could imagine could be had for pennies compared to what they would bring today. I found a Crower mechanical fuel injection setup for a few dollars. 409 parts were sitting everywhere. 2 four barrel and 3 two barrel aluminum intakes for all kinds of engines, I had lots of them. Cross ram intakes for Chrysler, Hemi's, flat head Fords, nail head Buick's, Pontiac's and the list could go on and on. I bought and had nearly any and every kind of muscle car made. From Mustangs to Trans Am's to GTO"s to Challengers, to lots of Camaro's and Chevelles. I had 2 1971 Hemi Challenger convertibles. 73 455SD Trans Am. 1966 435 horse Corvette. I can only imagine your emotions, coming across this gold mine. I'm glad you were there, for two reasons. One is I'm betting you make your money back and then some off the parts you decide to sell, and have lots of great stuff for future projects on the shelf. The other is you just saved a lot of vintage auto parts, like the cranks you got from the guy who only wanted the cart they were on, that might've been scrapped because the person who bought them didn't know what they were.
A friend of mine in Culpeper Va. who owns a salvage yard once had his wife say 'Why do you keep buying those junky old cars that have been wrecked?' She couldn't put together that this is how he was able to buy her that new car she wanted!
make wife did the same thing the best one was when i got caught change out the 305 in my almost new Monte Carlo SS i had just paid it off and was putting in a hop up 400 in the car she was ok till she ask who new truck is outside in the driveway then it was one very mad 5 foot tall wife she took the truck and i starting driving the Buick Grand National we had looking back still laughing about cars UPS guy hiding car parts for me and the cars we had and sold
Oh aye...that look. I'll be jabbering and bouncing around like a little excited kid who's eaten too many skittles and the wife, comically, just stands there with a single raised eyebrow and that disdainful look. I'm well and truly in the shite though when she raises both eyebrows. Both eyebrows means me and the dog will be sleeping in the workshop that evening - waiting for the excitement to wear off....but it never does.
Minus the ardun heads my grandpa had similar collection. He dirt tracked flatheads in the 50’s & early 60’s. Only kept enough to rebuild one engine and an extra set of heads and scraped the rest at the recycler.
Favorite things? 1. Arduns.I hope you won't have to sweat blood to get those running. 2. Allard parts. I love the Allard cars. They are meaty and manly. Need big forearms to moose them through corners. They had Fords, Caddys and Mopar Hemis in them. Small block Chev would have been a great motor for an Allard but they weren't around yet. 3. All the stuff. You have plenty for your own use and to sell/trade for other things you need. The "new" flatheads could be used by a hot rodder or a restorer who is going back to stock. I'm not a blower guy and like all my carbs and stuff under a hood but you seem to be pretty excited about having the blowers.. Nice haul. We all spend more than we should and there is always something left behind someone else bought or we found 'after we ran out of money. Enjoy!
Funk Aircraft made conversion kits to take the Ford N series (9, 2 or 8) and put in either a flathead or a straight six. They are pretty rare today but cool other than the fact that you have to take it a little easy on the drivetrain because while overdesigned, it was not made for 100 + hp. I pulled an 8n with a Funk straight 6 conversion out of a barn in Pa about 15 years ago. Got it running and was driving around my yard and this guy drives by, pulls in and just "has" to have it - so he went to the bank and my Ford Funk went bye bye. I think you better take the missus out tonight......that smirk said it all.....
One of my local pilot friends has a Funk Airplane that his Father bought new. A really nice and unique bird. I did not know that Funk was behind the tractor conversions. Thanks for that info.
What a gold mine, nice to see this stuff going to someone that has the passion to build them out right. Kinda like my brother went to a yard sale to late by 5 minutes and missed buying a 72" Mac tool box top and bottom slammed full of Mac and Snap on tools over stuffed in each drawer...... they bought for $100.00 My brother did by a traveling tool box with about $1000.00 in tools and micrometers, the guy was a mechanic for PanAm airlines.
Matt, no kidding, score of a lifetime!! My favorite score is the like new/ rebuilt 39 trans, in 71 - 72 I looked everywhere for one with Lincoln zeffer gears ( because I hated the column shift) to be a little stronger. I gave up in 73 and put a 69 LT1 350 and 4 spd in, today I wish I hadn't

billyfromtheusa Nice, should have seen her when I brought home a 51 Buick Roadmaster. Don't have it anymore, still have the wife though lol.
That Brewster grill is absolutely gorgeous!
Soon to be a remodeling channel! A score like that might cost you a kitchen or a bathroom haha. Amazing auction for sure. Thanks for sharing
Honey do this honey do that remember the auction you did spent a bit of money.
Great vintage car parts. Best of the best. Thanks for sharing. 👍👍
I liked your mate’s expression when he saw the haul.
Hahahah yepppp! A lot of friends did that this week when they stopped by lol
I could smell those parts as you were going through them. Nothing else like it and I love that smell.
Well it’s definitely cool to see that the parts just didn’t end in landfill somewhere -
Minus the ardun heads my grandpa had similar collection. He dirt tracked flatheads in the 50’s & early 60’s. Only kept enough to rebuild one engine and an extra set of heads and scraped the rest at the recycler.
Moral of the story.....have a cool wife that buys the food
Enjoy!
Man O man like all of it but the unmachined Allard parts are my favorite
Wow! That’s a HELL OF A, ONCE in a LIFETIME SCORE right there!!
Kinda like my brother went to a yard sale to late by 5 minutes and missed buying a 72" Mac tool box top and bottom slammed full of Mac and Snap on tools over stuffed in each drawer...... they bought for $100.00
My brother did by a traveling tool box with about $1000.00 in tools and micrometers, the guy was a mechanic for PanAm airlines.
Great score and as they say in the Garage Journal "You Suck." Be interesting to hear back story on the estate owner.
Class of 1956, California Modesto
Its unbelievable. How did this guy not have any of his buddies not come around to nab this stuff up. Amazing find good for you.
Next month :
Wife : Darling, guess what? There was an auction at Tiffany's.
Λογος Tiffany says she wants to decorate the house with me and so we need a few things can you help? Lol
