    Wow. Great little selection. Seen them all before but never tire of seeing the maestro’s touch. The opposition was top drawer - must have been so frustrating playing him knowing that your shots would be good enough for virtually all opposition. The stretching returns against Rafa and Berdych were stunning. I think Roger’s slice was the best slice in men’s tennis. Steffi’s was best in women’s obviously. Notable mention for Justine Henin and of course Martina Navaratilova.

    2:14 one of my all time favorite points. The way Fed defended the point and just finished it off like that. Incredible.

      I agree with you 100%. If I were to make a collection of the 100 most amazing points ever played by any player, male or female, of all time, this point would be a huge contender for #1. For me it’s the incredible touch and feel displayed at the end of the what had to be an exhausting point playing defense corner to corner. The finesse of this winner really feels like the skill of threading a needle. Beautiful.

    Roger is the only player in modern history to finish a point by selecting a shot based on however " the mood struck him at the time"
    So much mastery that while Everyone else has 1 shot option to end the rally, Roger had a few ! Sorely missed but nobody can play forever.

    • @spideyocd
      @spideyocd Рік тому

      Yeah these shots were mostly in his prim.
      Goes to show that later in his career these shots were few and in matches of not as much consequence because djokovic and Nadal were physically capable of covering the court very well and getting to slices
      But amazing disguise and just purely art and creativity in the shots.
      Sure the others have their unbelievable shots as well but it's more hard work and physical.
      Federer does it more easily (or that's what it seems)

      My opinion, GOAT status has more to do with an overall game, not just how many slams you have. Djokovic is great and one of the best grinders of all time, but Fed had all the variety, plus the grind, plus the grit to pull out the tough matches. He is the GOAT in my book. Nadal is the GOAT of neurotic tics and clay.

    • @ksantosh100
      @ksantosh100 Рік тому

      @@1bcordell Nah man, gotta give Novak his due. Undisputed GOAT. Fed is close 3rd, so not too bad. 2nd in non-clay!

    • @jorgej9419
      @jorgej9419 Рік тому +1

      @ksantosh100 I reckon that for most people in this comments' section, Federer is the GOAT. And it has to do more with the magic that he showed while playing; neither Rafa nor Nole has shown that magic, we are talking about sheer talent.
      However, if you consider just the number of GS and M1000 as the main variable to determine the GOAT, which is valid, then Federer is the undisputed GOAT in grass, and Nole is arguably the third, not too shabby.

    • @ksantosh100
      @ksantosh100 Рік тому

      @@jorgej9419 I got your first part, Fed is very talented and that took him quite far. You lost me in the 2nd paragraph. Fed lost all finals matchups to Novak on grass and barely holding on to most grass slam count. Not sure how Nole is 3rd on your list?
