@@juanxu1047 never heard it be called "soft pedal", the italian term and most used is "una corda" because what it does is literally move the keys to the right so the hammers only hit one string.
I love this piece! Mendelssohn is such a good composer, some people say he was underrated and still is but he was quiet famous in his time. This piece proves it
This match of piano, composer and performer is perfect... It sounds s o incredibly good. The piano and the piece must be married to each other by now. I wouldn't be surprised if Mendelssohn himself came by in a dream and thanked Tiffany Poon for bringing them together. T h a t recording is pure harmony.
I’m learning this, and the difference in sound between a professional and me is just incredible. I don’t know how you manage to balance the melody so well, and your phrasing is amazing. Maybe after a few more months I’ll be able to play somewhere near this level.
I’ve never cried to a music before. I played this piece for a concert when I was 11- then in high school,I fell out of playing because I felt it was like a chore. Fast forward several years, I’m 20 and trying to get back into it. Your interpretation brings much so many memories, and reminds me of that soaring sensation, which I came to miss so much. My fingers are totally rusty after the years, but Ill keep trying!!!
You must absolutly continue your pianoplaying - it will give you so much joy and satisfaction for your life -I know - . I was very touched by reading your words. You MUST continue. / stefan pauli
Hello! My name is Grace and I just stumbled upon your channel. I am so enthralled by your playing. I love your tone. You make the piano sparkle! Keep it up! I going to now binge watch all of your videos haha
I never heard this peace before, and your playing looks so effortless! I fell in love with this immediately. I don't know what it's about you, but there are so many other good pianists, therefore, to be fair, I cannot say that you are the one who plays best or anything like that. But what I can say is that from all of the pianists I know you are the one whoms interpretation I like the most and where I say "I would play it like that, too" (if I could play that good). It just comes naturally out of you and I really hear that you express your feeling through the piano. And besides that you are just a wonderful person! Thank you for uploading this video, it really made my day.
Hi Tiffany, it is a further great Video. I love your playing soooo much, because you play wirh a lot of feeling and passion. All the best of you, god bless you. Alex.
You really are my favorite pianist alive I'm a guy, and I feel really rough around the edges, I play alright, but when you play, its just unreal. You make it all look so effortless, and you look so graceful and precise. I hate that about myself. I want to seem as comfortable as you. :)
Just to clarify, I never played 14 hours a day, even when I was a kid. This is actually how much I play per day: ua-cam.com/video/aDm6wURUi8E/v-deo.html
Lovely in every way, dear girl Almost a lovey as you. I apprecite so much the "fairy tightness" you achieve in the Rondo Capriciosso -- and the power you hold in reserve till it's honestly appropriate to display. Elegant playing, Tiffany, and full of affection for Mendelssohn's lyrical beauty. Please consider me a fan. I love your work
Wow, Tiffany! You play with such heart and imagination, and your music is filling my heart and imagination. You’re really someone special. Thank you for sharing your gifts on UA-cam.
I always love coming on youtube and watching you, even as a violinist you are an inspiration, I can only hope to play with as much sincerity as you seem to be able to one day
Fantastic! 4:26 absolute magic. I played this piece as a youngster...of course, I use that term loosely because your skills are in a different universe than mine. I grew up listening to Julius Katchen's recording which is about as expressive as anyone can get on a prestissimo piece like this. Your performance brought back a lot of memories. Thank you!
I play this piece and I can really understand how difficult it is. But every time I listen to your interpretation I forget everything and I just indulge in the music 🎶 ♥️
Beautiful interpretation of this piece. It brings out lots of technique done with clarity. The melody is cristal clear throughout. Let’s celebrate this pianist’s achievement. No need to compare her to others; she holds her own with this interpretation. Bravo!
My favourite piece of piano music :D you really cannot count how many times my parents made me listen to this while I am practising... Amazing performance! I cannot think of any other musician that are better than you! Love it!!! 💕
Ok so now you have inspired me to work on this piece once again. I absolutely love your interpretation. I played this(or rather worked on playing it) back when I was a teenager and now I must perfect it. Thank you Tiffany !!

Xtazic yes you can! The key is SLOW SLOW SLOW until everything feels so natural that’s it’s second nature. Only then must you start to bring up the tempo.
It also depends on your piano. Uprights, and especially digital almost work against you at certain points. A grand, or baby grand will work with you, as the action whether heavy or light is superior.
