I did the middle piece with 13 cords but 430cm was wayyyyyyyy too long I ended up with a whole lot of wasted cords :( I could’ve easily done it with half the length
I would measure how much was left over to make sure I had the right amount next time. I want to make it but need better measurements so I also don’t waste chord
Hey Lily, sorry it got a bit confusing. When it fast forwards it is just continuing the same thing I just explained until I speak again. Does that make sense? I would suggest pausing the video during the fast forwards if you are carrying along with it. That will give you the time you need to make the knots I've just explained. Thank you for watching and feel free to message on Instagram if you get stuck, I will gladly help!
super helpful vid :) also where are you from? you have such a unique accent? eastern Canada? or maybe Canadian or American but with a bit of English influence?
I love it! It’s my good friends birthday and I’ve been wanting to make her one. I’m gonna try it! I’ve made a couple of these wall hangings over the passed few months in quarantine. I came up against the same issue of my cord coming apart at the ends. The first time I did it I also used tape. I used washy tape. It was tedious, especially since I was working with a total of 50 cords for the pattern I followed. And since each cord has two ends I had to tape 100 times 🤦♀️🤣😂🤣 Second time around I quit with the tape and just put a small knot at the end of each cord, and I did it at I was cutting. I also was using 4mm cord.
Oooh yeah! I'd love to see it if you do make it! Send me a pic over on Insta! Yeah taping can be a pain! That's why I started taping before I cut and cutting in the middle. It's still a lot and probably a waste of tape but otherwise the ends go everywhere! Knotting is a good idea! I'll give that a try next time! Thanks!
Thank you very much for sharing! Me and my mom are also stuck at home and have never done macrame before and your tutorial guided us through! Hope cabin fever hasnt got the best of you, would love to see more tutorials :)
So glad you enjoyed and I hope it helped pass the time a little bit! I would love if you sent me pics on insta! I'd love to see what you made! I'll defo make more tutorials when I make more hangers! Thanks for watching!
From the bottom of the stick to the end of the tail, the middle one is 81cm (32in). The sided ones are about 5cm (2in) shorter. That includes the tail length, but you can adjust that to be 25cm (10in) shorter if you want a very short tail
Hello! This is great! Apologies for asking, you mentioned about swap plant group in Brixton in London, may I ask is there any fb group? Happy to swap some, when covid will be finally under control !
I'm not in any Brixton specific plant swap fb groups but there are a bunch of London or south London ones. DM me on insta if you want direct links. There was a physical plant swap in Brixton at some point but that was a while ago now.
Each string is about 4.25 metres. They did end up being a bit long, so you could possibly go down to 4, but with these things I'd always rather be safe than sorry! If you do make this, I'd love to see pictures! Send them over on insta!
The measurements I suggest are in the description. It's tough to say as some of the cords i trimmed barely any off at the end and some much more. This is because some get knotted more and some less. I always prefer to have a bit extra than not having enough! Good luck!
how long across is the string part? i noticed the dowel rod you used is about 3 feet and there’s some room left of each side. im using some drift wood to make this and it’s closer to 4 feet so i’m nervous it would look weird with too much wood showing
I think it's about 1.5 feet. hmm I think it would look cool with a longer driftwood. You could always try it with the 3 and add more to the sides if it looks like it needs more.
Very nice design. Can you tell me how much cord you ended up using? I know you said two and a half to two and two thirds wing spans lol but does that translate to a number? Thank you. Stay cool girl. It’s just weird days. This too shall pass.
I think each cord ended up being just over 4 metres long. And I ended up using 35 (11 on each side, 13 in the middle) cords to make the three hangers. Thank you so much for watching! If you make this I'd love to see over on IG! Stay safe out there!
the middle hanger is 80cm and the outside ones are 75cm. But that can be made shorter or longer depending on how long you want the tail to be. The rod I used is 70cm
Just finished making this and I would like to thank you for the hitch knot I was struggling to make this one but after watching your video I pulled it off. You said you are not those fancy youtubers but let me tell you one thing that may be they are fancy but the way you explained things no other youtuber did. So for me you are the best!! Happy Macraming!! ❣️❣️
I know EXACTLY which Etsy macrame plant hanger you were inspired by! I only came across it yesterday and couldn’t wait to try to diy it. But I did not know how to do the pattern. Im so glad I stumble on your video. You broke this down perfectly! Thank you for saving me from the headache of having to figure this out by myself! I literally just got my pieces of drift wood from the beach today. So excited to start this tonight! Thanks again! Your macrame planter turned out beautifully!
Hey! Just wanted to say that I just made your plant hanger- the directions were super thorough and I love your analogy with under the foot for the number 4 😄 Wish I could post a pic here but it turned out super nice! Can't wait to give it to my sister for her housewarming. Thank you and much love from Virginia! ❤
Oooh this is exactly what I'd like to make. Great video! How much cord should I buy to make the three and do you have a place you buy them from online? Sorry, barrage of questions! 😂
Thanks! I ended up using between 100-200m of cord to make the set of 3 in this video. I got the cord from amazon and put a link in the description box :) I'd love to see pics when you make it, DM me over on insta!
Oooh yay! If you'd I'd love to see the final product! Send me a pic on IG! I'm half American half British, so my accent is a bit of a strange mix between :)
Thank you for making this simple tutorial! I have looked for quite some time for somebody to just show a simple diy without tons of ads popping off or over-charging for a “pattern”! Good Health to you!
Giving this a go next. Just finished a plant hanging for my friend. Going to make this for myself got some drift wood off the beach. You have done a better tutorial better then some on you tube. X
Thanks! Yeah I don't see why not! Idk if this is real a concern or not, but it may not last quite as long as indoors if exposed to extreme weather, hot sun, rain, etc. I think it should be fine though!
@@smileyflaca I’ve done it lots of times,as long as it’s cotton, it will be fine. If you have a chunky cotton, great, otherwise you can use 2 strands to make one😊

Got confused when you didn’t show how to do the second diamond. Definitely not a beginner video 😅
This is like elementary school crafts for adults and I’m here for it
Right?! That's why I love it!
Its beautiful but it got confusing when you did the fast forward. Can you provide us (beginners) with a slow instruction?

Can you give the dimensions of the baskets together.. Their lengh and With without and with the wood stick?
