I miss you Nanci. Your music, your voice brought (brings) so much into my life. We were fortunate to have shared the world with you-lets hope we hear your voice again in the next. Love, Kath
I first saw Nanci Griffith in 1985. It seemed she came into this world a fully formed musician, singer and songwriter. An old soul. I will miss you Nanci .... your effortless talent. Your music lives on forever .......
Even though our beloved Nanci Griffith has passed we can take great joy and comfort in keeping her music alive. My first encounter with her was here in Glasgow Scotland in 1990 when she performed at a massive open festival called the 'Big Day'. I had heard her music on the radio but didn't know who she was and after getting to see her live I fell in love with her and her music. So every time Nanci came to Glasgow or anywhere in Scotland I would go and see her in concert. Her music sustained me through good times and bad times and I will be forever grateful to say that I got to see her in concert. She was a true and beautiful soul. May she now have peace and we can still remember her through her music and these videos. RIP Nanci Griffith.
My wife and I was at the Glasgow Big Day, but we didn't know Nancy was performing and are really annoyed we missed her. As we are now that we cannot see her anymore.
Thank you for that story. Nanci, and Eric Taylor (her ex husband, who also recently passed away) will always be remembered by me until the day I die. She’s a gem for sure!!!
Why do we wait til an artist has passed to check out their work? I’ve loved Nanci for decades but never watched this until learning the sad news. And then to hear her doing the great Prine song . . . almost more than I can bear. Rest In Peace, dear one.
I’m a machinist and I made Nanci a pair of miniature brass candlesticks. I have that sweet memory forever of making them and giving her the only thing I could think of that showed my love and gratitude for all the joy she brought to me. I have all her albums and I play some guitar and my favorite song to play is “Across the Great Divide”. That plus “There’s a light beyond these Woods, Mary Margret”. I am blessed to have these memories and to have seen her in concert many times. A true angel and amazing songwriter. I am so sad she’s gone. She had tough life especially with her heath problems. I will miss her everyday of my life. RIP my sweetheart.
@@andygossard4293 We were expecting to hear something Friday as Nanci requested not to release cause of death until one week after she’s passed. Apparently she knew she was close to dying. The only thing I have seen is she died of natural causes. I think I saw somewhere that she was sick for a time before she died. So, it is a little unclear.
"I am enhanced by all you've shown me." from Clock without Hands, Nanci. Sorry it was a quote of your song, but I really mean it, dear. Thanks Nanci. Much Love
I can`t believe I haven`t seen this before. With Emmylou, Iris, and Nanci, my three favourite female voices, I don`t need any other voices but I would have loved to have been in that room. Nanci`s death came as a great sadness for me this week, as well as her own great songs I was introduced to many great songwriters by her and there is not a day goes by that I don`t pick up a guitar and play something that I have heard her perform. If I was a believer I would like to think that her, Townes, Guy, John, and Kate are sitting around a kitchen table somewhere taking it in turns to play one. Thank you Nanci.
I first heard this gifted folk singer in the early 90s on a (The) Chieftains Christmas record, and for years, her CDs "Other Voices, Other Rooms" and "Flyer" found themselves in regular rotation in my car on long trips across Upstate NY and the Arizona, Nevada, and California deserts. Such a loss...and just 68 years young. This one really hurts. 😢 R.I.P., Nancy.
I was enjoying watching this, hearing about Nanci's early days. Then came Trouble In Our Fields and the tears just flowed. So beautiful from her gorgeous face to the heart and soul she exuded. I'm blessed to have met and chatted with her, however briefly. Sing on, Nanci xxx
Greatest ever song writer & folk singer. I loved her. I first saw her in 1987 on Austin City Limits. I was mesmerized by her beautiful songs & voice. I bought everything she recorded. She flew away on some black birds wing in a Texas field of bluebonnets
Rest in peace you beautiful light. I used to listen to Nancy when she came to Dallas Texas and sang at Uncle Calvin's Coffee Emporium, which was a small venue in the basement of a church. She was a force to be reckoned with. I place her up there with John Prine with her song writings and that is a very high place to be. Say hello to John for me Nancy.
I first heard Nanci when I worked in JGWindows Ltd, Newcastle upon Tyne. It was a family-run music shop. One of my colleagues was a massive fan of all things country (and much more besides). Every day, he would play this one album constantly until all its riffs and refrains had insinuated themselves in to the heads of many of the staff. That album was the seminal, "Last of the True Believers". I was lucky enough to see Nanci live twice, in Newcastle upon Tyne. She sparkled and had the audience eating out of her hand within minutes. Her music brought me great comfort back then and now, despite floods of tears since last week's terrible news, it continues to give great solace. RIP Nanci. Gone too soon 💔💖
Nancy had a way to make you feel that you were here biggest fan and that you appreciated her more than anyone else. See you on the other side sweet lady...
I saw this show the night before, so I missed Ann and Emmylou, but it was still one of the best shows I've ever seen. Nanci was such a singular artist, and though I have listened to her music consistently over the years, I've been drowning myself in it and in my tears ever since her passing. RIP Nanci, and thank you.
I've listened to her for a long time but just recently found out she was a kindergarten teacher and it sort of clicked for me why so many of us are so emotionally attached to her, she knew how to sing to that pure inner child each of us still carries no matter how deeply buried it is
RIP Nanci. So sad .. I koved her songs and she was such a great singer /songwriter and musician. During Covid lockdowns I enjoyed watching her past concerts on You Tube. My dear Uncle Eddie who has passed on was a great fan of her aswell.
Vaya con Dios Ms. Griffith! I love ur music and always have! What a story teller and voice! What a gift and now god has u to himself with all the other musicians that ever were…
Oh Nancy…. Love her music and what she did and stood for. Fortunate enough to to see her several times in the the 80’s and 90’s and have most of her music. Ann Richards intro and Emmylou brought more tears. 💙
Nanci and Emmylou, it just doesn't get better than that! Nanci will be sorely missed by millions around the World. God bless, and let's keep her music alive by listening and playing her incredible legacy of songs at every opportunity. Love and peace.
Thank you so much for sharing this great performances and parts of Interview with so much wonderful Nanci ... I hope, she has become an angel of- and in heaven ...
So glad I got to see a gig from that tour in the UK. Sometimes when a musician we like very much passes away, we feel it as a personal loss. It's not the same losing a relative or close friend, but it's something like that. Like many others, I suppose, I'm seeking out gems like this to remind myself how good Nanci Griffith was.
Yes indeed. When you embrace a person’s talent and they bring you joy you never let them go. When Nanci died I grieved as I lost part of myself and my past
Yes she touched my heart with her wonderful music and songwriting! Saw her live here England many times including the dustbowl symphony tour at the ROYAL ALBERT HALL ! What a night I will never forget! She has left a musical legacy that I will revisit till the end of my days! She was a true blessing!
We love you, Nanci. Especially the liddle boy who lives in my old man body with me. Kids. He’s just mad like a little-one gets, sometimes. Rest in Natural Great Peace…
The quality of this is outstanding. I don't think this was transferred from VHS. If you have the rest of this concert in this high quality, I'd sure love for you to post it. Thanks for all you do to promote Nanci's music.
I have seen a lot of stars pass in my 64 years. but something hurt me more when I heard about Nanci. there are certain people that pass and you wonder why. Nanci is one of those people. the Bible says we will have all our questions answered when we get there and after my Mother Dad and youngest Brother I'm going to ask why Nanci.?. may this Angel always R.I.P. and we will see her on the other side.
Magnificent Nanci! The truly great NANCI GRIFFITH! Saw her live many times here in England and always my favourite female artist! Truly missed!
What a fine anthology. I especially enjoyed this 30 minute 1993 presentation.
Someone!!!! Please release this wonderful Laserdisc on a DVD!!!! Please!
I miss you Nanci. Your music, your voice brought (brings) so much into my life. We were fortunate to have shared the world with you-lets hope we hear your voice again in the next. Love, Kath

Loved her 😊 Still do! Great singer and guitar player!
How very sad. I discovered Nanci in 1990. An empty space that simply cannot be filled.

So wonderful to see the video of Nanci and Mary Margaret as kids!

Wow-what a treasure now gone too quickly-RIP Nancy.
I was there that night....sitting off to the side in the last seat in a middle row on orchestra level. One of the greatest nights of my musical life.

What a darling. I doubt Texas would be so friendly today to such a free spirit.

12 dislikes? Really? Move along, your time is much too short to spend it disliking things you do not understand.
Other Voices is a constant necessity
Big Blessings Nanci, you have touched many hearts 💕 ♥...thanks

I just noticed that Nina Gerber is playing the same guitar Nanci was playing There's a Light on at the start of the video. (18:27)
This is the tribute
Great to see this is such good quality - thank you. Do you have Part 2, by any chance?
Loads of parts. Just type 'Nanci Griffith - Other Voices, Other Rooms' in the search bar and they will all come up. Not in order though.
Such a beautiful video. Is there a Part 2?
Someone posted the songs on here individually a few years ago.
Loads of parts. Just type 'Nanci Griffith - Other Voices, Other Rooms' in the search bar and they will all come up. Not in order though.
Can someone point me to the lyrics? I can't find any.
Is there a part 2?

The description doesn’t list the other artists/ musicians on stage. Who are they- anyone?
Nanci Griffith died from cancer recently.
How you know?
