I would say this is Nanci at her best and most confident. She really digs in on these songs and is having an absolute blast with these musicians. I really enjoyed this.
Nanci is was such a sweet voiced ambassador.. Ukraine and Russia could use a few Nanci shows. 2024. she was a part of heaven on earth Long Live Nanci Griffith
"whatever hate you have in your heart...don't pass it on to your children." Nanci never missed an opportunity to send a message. She was fearless, and cared little about being popular with haters. Artists today measure every word so they offend no one. Nanci measured every word in hopes that it might induce self reflection. God Bless her for that...and so much more.
The other night, one of Nanci's songs came up on a playlist I was listening to. And I said to myself that I'd like to go see her live. I had put it off for so long before due to one issue or another. Well needless to say that I found out the hard way that Nanci was no longer with us. Her passing had slipped by me. And from that day on, my heart was missing a beat. She will always be a big part of my life through her music. Missing you and your smile. Rest Easy, ALWAYS.
Very beautiful video by a beautiful spirit filled soul. RIP. I am sure you are organizing the music in heaven with Kate Wolfe and some of your beloved sisters. Thank you for posting this lovely evening with Nanci . It will be cherished by many,
I’ve got tears in my eyes watching this. I miss her so so much!!! I can totally one hundred percent say she touched my life and made it better with her music. Rest in utter peace Nanci.
What a wonderful show. Took me back 40+ years to the 70s & 80s in Austin and Kerrville listening to these incredible singer/songwriters. I'd almost forgotten what a magical time that was. Thank you, Nanci. Rest in peace, and I'll see you across the great divide.

@@susandombrowski4764 I don't think we need to know where she's buried, let's leave her in peace. It seemed she was private about some things, and I am guessing she'd want it that way,
What a beautiful spirit and strength! I share her Scottish heritage(my family settled in Louisiana after more than a century in the American colonies)….May her music be passed on into the next century and beyond!
We are so fortunate that these videos exist with nanci no longer on earth. She never had a chance to write her memoirs, but oh they can be heard in song!!! What a treasure! 💘 🇨🇦 🍁
I a,m still moved by Nanci more than any other artist. I am most humbled tonight to once again listen to this special concert. So lovely. Peace to all and rest in peace dear Nanci. Miss you.
This concert touches the spirit within and out. Believe what music is meant to do. Watch magic in the making between the bunch of gifted musicians, Nanci being the thread that sews it all together in a warm blanket of comfort.
I watch the opening and Nanci singing "Wall of Death." She is so full of energy and so vibrant as she sings this song and entire concert that follows. I had never heard Nanci cover this song with all the other great singers and musicians on the stage. Still hard to believe she is gone.....I just shake my head in disbelief over her passing.
Just beautiful. I saw Nanci in Edinburgh a few years back and knew then it would be the last as she had to be helped onto the stage. She also couldn't play a few of her best known songs as she couldn't pick the chords anymore. I can't quite believe I'll never hear any more of her voice live, so many thanks for giving us this gig. RIP Nanci, I hope you have a great gig going on up there!
What a songbird. Her voice so uniquely her own. What an amazing gathering of talent in this live concert. Thank you so much for streaming it. And the interviews from her native soil, make it so very true & personal.
I didn’t realize that she had been in such decline. It seemed to be so surprising to everyone. I know she had been a long term cancer survivor. Had that returned or were there different issues .. you mention actually noticing she want well to that degree??
This is gold as her Soul.. a favorite album and so much more here.. w many others… and w lots o Love.. smiles and a great experiences shared w us all.. xo Nanci sooo beautifully introduces.. and appreciates sooo many others artists .. friends for life singing together sooo beautiful 💖🌼💚

Thank you a thousand times!! Tom Russell! Andrew Hardin! Carolyn Hester! Dave von Ronk! Ofetta! Guess it was just too much to get Guy Clark and friends there for Desperadoes!!
I miss you dear Nanci. If you can hear me up in heaven I love you. If you can pull any strings with divine justice, help us down here, hard times are wherever we go, still.
I’m so grateful to the person who shared this! I intend to keep on singing! And I thank Nanci for the incredible gift of her music that she left us - for in that gift, she is immortal. What a fantastic show and incredible group of talent sharing the stage!
I still can't watch Nanci without crying my ass off. "Wall of Death" is an all-time favorite of mine. With this, "Dimming of the Day" and "Walking On a Wire", RT has written 3 of my top 50 songs of all time. Nanci has 2-3 in there as well.
OMG!!! I was at one of those shows!! This post is whatever word exists that says "beyond beautiful." Thank you for posting. Nanci's voice lives on forever.❤
Nanci got some criticism for the studio recording of Other Voices, Too, which I have to admit is not my favorite. Comparing this live performance with the studio version, I can hear the difference. With the studio version, she hid her voice so that others might be heard. This concert is fantastic! Her voice rings through and makes the songs come alive. Canadian Whiskey is an absolute standout. Thank you SO much for posting it. It has brightened my day considerably. Dearest Nanci, sure do miss you.
The critics apparently ignored the fact that she was recovering from thyroid cancer which had to have impacted her singing at the time she recorded the album. She is stronger here and even stronger on Clock without Hands and in the Winter Marquee video a couple years later.
Yes, tears of sorrow for the loss and yes, tears of joy for Nanci's legacy... (And dig Dave Van Ronk in this jazzed up version of "He Was a Friend of Mine"!)
Breathtaking performance. Listened to and watched countless Nanci shows, including several live shows, but this is the best so far. Thank you for sharing this. Saved as a Special Show. RIP Angel - we all should be so good...
A treat to see one of my favourite albums performed and hear stories behind the songs. Thanks you Rarities for giving us special glimpses of that skinny angel.

Greetings from Tucson 🌵! I first heard Nanci Griffith when I was stationed at Randolph AFB near Seguin and San Antonio, “One Fair Summer Evening”. I went right out and bought the album. I have been a fan ever since.
Well, I'm in Toronto, and in the 1980s I learned about Nanci Griffith. It seemed like she'd always been there, waiting for me to listen. And I've never stopped listening and loving her grace, beauty, idiosyncratic style, breadth and versatility, humour, humanity, and her musicality, which incorporates all of these. She is a wonder, and she's left a stupendous body of work -- I treasure her music.
I'm here in the Chicago suburbs...New Lenox IL to be exact. In the dark ages of technology, I set a timer on the VCR because Emmy Lou Harris was scheduled to be on ACL. I returned home late, but eager to see Emmy Lou. She was great, but what came next just captured me in an embrace of great joy & love. Nancy Griffith wrote songs of real life. They all contain kernels of my own truth. Nancy was no pop singer chasing fame, she was a poet who wanted her work to make a positive impact, in ways both large & small. Listening to "its a hard life" in this concert.
Sorry, hit the wrong button....when Nanci died, I wept. I felt I had lost a dear friend, because that was her gift--- to make each of us who hear her feel she created or selected the song just for us. Nanci was born exactly 3 years to the day after my birth. The great mystic universe knew I needed her, for there's many kinds of trouble, and there are hard times in every life. Nanci will always lift me up. May she rest in peace as she so greatly deserves. With much gratitude & great love.
