A master piece. The production is mind blowing. Everyone goes on about OK computer being the groundbreaking album of that period, but Six is another level!
@@jimwhite9190 Funny you should say that, because there was some cross-pollination there. Radiohead were recording OK computer next door to Mansun when they were recording their first album (attack of the grey lantern, of course) and even at that early stage their stitching together of songs inspired Radiohead to do the same with 'paranoid android'. Thom even thanked them for this in an awards speech.
Kate Burgess with you on that, saw them live a few times, drove down to the roadmender Northampton on my own after work from Walsall midweek, absolutely buzzing driving back home (no alcohol and definitely no drugs involved) mansun were better than many bands around at that time and after! Like me keep playing them Kate, keep playing them 😉👍👌
Alan Farmer Thanks, wish I’d seen them live! I play their albums on a regular basis, far, far better than most of the other bands around at that time Oasis, Blur etc and the majority of the one’s around today! 👍🏻
I remember seeing them at warwick uni in 1998, I was about 20ft from dominic chad, fuckin blew my head off when they played negative! so tight and note perfect, awesome :)
Six was such an incredible album, but because it wasn’t commercial enough it didn’t do as well as the debut. However it was probably one of the best albums of all time
Whole band are great Bass Stove is a much better player than people say, and Andie is a great drummer. Vocals are good Paul is a great frontman, but Chad isn't together on this, and he plays a bum note at the start. I always thought it was Chad who just seems out of touch with this band live.
You haven't watched/read enough interviews, then. Draper was/is insightful, cutting and relentlessly unpretentious. Stove was also a good talker & a great laugh. One interviewer asked, when talking about 'being a girl', 'if you could be any woman, who would you be?' he answered: 'me mum'.
@@jamesthecatwasn’t that the interview circa oct 1998 on MTV most wanted with Ray Cokes. Just Stove & Draper. They also performed live & were great as usual. I loved them so much but never saw them live. Attack, 6 & Little kix saved me
@@jamesobrien1440It was indeed! Their music did the same for me, especially 'six', and I'll always remember the moment I heard the first single from kix on the radio whilst working a truly terrible job! I'm sure their inspired creations will do the same for many others in the future! The album six is one of the greatest albums of all time.mainly written off the cuff and under pressure on tour after the success of their first album!

FACT!
Both albums are awesome.

It’s a masterpiece that was overlooked. But those who know about it enjoys some great music.
The album Six is a modern Prog Rock classic.
New Romantics meets rock from these Cestrians.
Twas

Great lyrics, great music, great vocals, great band the end.

20years old ay ay ay. It still feels recent.
Great new album by PAUL D ,,He proved he can do it eith his own talents
Saw them tour this album at Brixton what a night they smashed it.
Saw the lads for the first time in 98' at derby, they opened with 'negative' and it was mind blowing - the power and energy of the music.
Incredible drum work here from Andie Rathbone
??? He's all over the place tempo wise.
He's as steady as@@yourgameisstupid
@@yourgameisstupid you're all over the envy with your being so precise and canonical.
@@yourgameisstupid that's no matter. the guy shows cool and deep playing. and the sound of his supraphonic-like-tuned snaredrum shows taste.
@@yourgameisstupid no he isn’t.

Magazine, Penetration, Puni-Lux, Banshees, Mansun....... Such a great band!
I was learning this for acoustic cover but singing it almost brought me to tears. Must be sentimental
beautiful live is powerful
paul is a great frontman
1stアルバムが大好きで、よく聴いてました。
2ndアルバムは、難解な曲が多い中
最初に好きになったのがNEGATIVEです。
控えめに言って、最高✨
They sounded great and looked even better live. Thanks for posting!

I’m so glad to have been a part of their fandom as well 😊

Its a shame they were as bland as cardboard in interviews..
It’s a shame you exist.
