I used to work with Adam at HMV in Ealing - i didn't even know he was in a band at the time!! (1992) - the guitarist from The Tindersticks was a rep for one of the labels - used to come in all the time
ah, TFI Friday, i remember being in primary school and rushing home to hang out with friends and then watch this on the telly and then go back out and hang out, play football and talk about all the cool bands and stuff we saw :)
as others have said, a very underrated britpop era band. their guitarist totally blows anything noel gallagher ever came up with technically - with this song alone!
Ryland Evans it’s so depressing-in they are coming across as drugstore oasis but were so much more-and better. Along with the Longpigs and Suede and Pulp and many others there was an ethos-Supergrass and Gene followed this ethos. I feel so old but I miss musical honesty-The Artic Monkeys has came the closet to capturing that feeling for me but it missed an honest scene to tie themselves to
Pippuappu 27 Cool. Mark is a great singer and Scott is a great bassist. I wish I could play like that, not just his but original melodies of my own that are as complex and full as his ones. Slight Return is the best bassline he did, this a close second, and Bluetonic is a good un too ☺ I'm lucky to have grown up listening to The Bluetones (among many others) break into the top 10. Slight Return is one of a good few hits around that time that should have been number 1 but only just lost out 😎
Cockshield Erm... ok. Well, simply put it is either a fact or a lie but in no sense could whether someone is related to you (whether that be an uncle or any other relative) be considered an opinion. Lol. 😝
Three first albums are proper good. One of the best bands of that era, that didn't really go super big. Mark Morriss seems super likable btw, seen some great newer live footage.
heh mark trying to take the piss out of Liam but as the song goes on he can't help himself and move to the music and jiggle around - love it! (at least thats what i thought t the time and indeed now)
The bluetomes where very promisining on the first 2 records, but recently (last 2 albums) have crept out without much promotion, which is a shame. Brilliant performance.
wikichris They had a few top 10 hits, in fact, the reissue and re-release of Slight Return got to number 2. Pity it couldn't sell more than the number one, which I think was either Gina G or George Michael.
What a great tune that was/is ... I was at my festival-going peak during the 'Britpop' thing, somehow I never managed to catch The Bluetones ... Well, not that I can remember anyway, it's all a bit hazy ...
he seems to have had the liam look before liam but didnt work out in long run. he smelt rose west fanny. she said u poo on the flowers and u aint right
Daniel Fuzzo Mark Morriss never tried to be or even act like LG, and quite frankly he was a much better singer than LG. Morriss had his own swagger, and wasn't or didn't seem to be even nearly as obnoxious as certain other frontmen.
loved the bluetones back in the day. Adam Devlin such a good guitarist
Completely underrated
@@matthewdrake9699 ^ This!
Bravo!

Such an underrated guitarist.
Kieran Chalmers totally agree, Adam’s definitely got his own unique style 🎸
100%. In the top tier of his generation.
Second only to Coxon in his generation. Yes, he’s even above Jonny Greenwood.
My fav guitarist from the 90s after Johnny Squire
That first shot, with a close up of the bass guitar, then Mark swinging into shot and the camera snapping into focus on him, is just spectacular!
Very under rated band during the whole Brit Pop era.. some great albums
Understatement of the century ;) I am almost exclusively into rock music. Yet these are my favourite band of all time.
This was my favorite tune in the world when i was 21
ah, TFI Friday, i remember being in primary school and rushing home to hang out with friends and then watch this on the telly and then go back out and hang out, play football and talk about all the cool bands and stuff we saw :)
the sweetest voice i have ever heard they really are great!!!
As a
Ah, this song was a part of my 20s from korea to london. Always makes me feel good. Still look it up and love it. I will do so forever. Thank you.
TFI Friday was the nuts! Britpop and Euro 96 shaped my early self.
I love this song. What an absolute gem.
One of my all-time favourites.
5 years on from my Last comment same song back in my head. Quality tune
great song this wake up with it in my head alot lately
They're playing in Rochdale at the Feelgood Festival FOC this weekend
Devlin, definitely one of my favourite guitarists, but hats of to mr morris for his melodies as well... great band, great songs
Fookin love that song.
love this. ...hunted high and low for it back in the day :)
Best line ever, "and I'm only ever seen in the right place"
Awesome band
PS Mark is playing Apollo Festival in York on 21.6.2014
great guitarist!! cant believe its almost ten years old.fuck!!!
😲
@@rossmatheson4303 Who even knew YT was about 16 years ago!
@introaether937 that's bizarre! I just dug out my ticket from seeing them in Glasgow the other day and mentioned "If..." on twitter.
@@rossmatheson4303 Synced!
perfect.this song don't fade.
Brilliant song.
Maybe one of our most underrated bands ever?.
Seeing them tonight in Birmingham. Can't wait :)

He is up there with Squire if you ask me.
He's a quality guitarist. But nobody can write a song intro or build into a chorus like noel he's a fuckin genius
the bassist, Scott Morris, and the lead, Mark Morris are my uncles. fact
If that's true then you have awesome uncles!

@@PBL187 Unsurprising that Slight Return is his best bassline - he wrote the song !
I love Devlin's guitar playing at 3:58 on. Reminds me of early John Squire
ME 2, seeing mark morris tonight in a pub near my home.... cosy!
Takes me straight back to being 13 watching tfi on a tiny tv!
I have Bluetones Bizarre fest 98 someplace on vhs, I wish I could find it!
i miss the 90's
Scott Morriss is an amazing bassist. So melodic. This and Slight Return are his finest melodies.
Three first albums are proper good. One of the best bands of that era, that didn't really go super big. Mark Morriss seems super likable btw, seen some great newer live footage.
Would love to go. They are great live.

@1983Graham
Hes up there with John Squire !
Really well put together song. Nice. I know they only had very modest success.
wikichris They had a few top 10 hits, in fact, the reissue and re-release of Slight Return got to number 2. Pity it couldn't sell more than the number one, which I think was either Gina G or George Michael.
great song, just noticed the lyrical nod to Wichita Lineman too.
sevendaughters came looking for this today after Glen's Campbell's death. Took me a good while to remember which song had the similar line.
horrendous flashbacks to my band stalking youth. great band. badgered them endlessly.
mark is playing the night after in elgin..cant wait !!
They're still going..... Last seen gigging their debut album back in Dec 08 - Mar 09. Last of the Britpop survivors?
Takes me back to underage drinking days!! What a tune.
IM SEEING THEM TONIGHT AT THE FAREWELL GIG AT SHEPPY BUSH!! CANT CHUFFING WAIT!! Its gonna be emotional!
pretty good
Ahh, that outro, oha and the intro and also the stuff inbetween.
Classic song.
So rock'n'roll at the end, he just seems unphased by the wooping crowds!
nothing!
im going to see em 11th december , koko in london!
What a great tune that was/is ... I was at my festival-going peak during the 'Britpop' thing, somehow I never managed to catch The Bluetones ...
Well, not that I can remember anyway, it's all a bit hazy ...
Good work.
I want the bassist's bass
this band is an anthem

it`s all that i can do to sing these stupid songs to u
"saw this band at the woughton campus (milton keynes) barry!!!
lol is that all saints at the start?
Yup.
this lot and ocs are the last brit pop survivors
great bassline that. Whatever happened to the Bluetones?
if they do a greatest hits show it would be amazing. Cool band with cool sounds.
Tune xx:)
2019
he seems to have had the liam look before liam but didnt work out in long run. he smelt rose west fanny. she said u poo on the flowers and u aint right
Shat out the high notes
Back when allsaints were fit lol
The Oasis' singer wanted to be Jonh Lennon, the Bluetones' singer wanted to be Liam Gallagher.
don't think so
Daniel Fuzzo even though they were out before oasis fucktard
Daniel Fuzzo Mark Morriss never tried to be or even act like LG, and quite frankly he was a much better singer than LG. Morriss had his own swagger, and wasn't or didn't seem to be even nearly as obnoxious as certain other frontmen.
Daniel Fuzzo he looks and acts more like Rick witter
Idiot
Terrible sound engineer. Amazing band
