- For our first ride of the 2022-2023 season, we headed to Cooke City to compare the Gen 4 vs the Gen 5 factory turbos from Ski-Doo. The Gen 5 Chassis blew us away, but how do the changes they made stack up to the old? Should you upgrade? Are you missing out? Let us know what you think in the comments below!

That gen 5 is just absurd how nice it is and that look has grown so much on me I’m starting to love it might have to get it
Gen 5 is super nice. We were impressed
It’s just another skidoo! 70% rider 30% sled! Always will be! Great video… keep them coming!👍
I have a gen5 na and my bro has a gen4. The gen5 is certainly nice but not night and day difference at all.
At last some one writing the truth 🙂
Skidoo is like “hey we gonna make a video, act like the new gen 5 sled is the cure all for sledding”
Agreed. I have a G4 and access to two G5. It isn't as drastic as this video makes it.
I rented a gen 5 this year and had historically rode Polaris only and was really impressed with how it was able to turn. I think from my perspective is it worth the extra 2 to $3,000 to buy a used gen 5 over a Gen 4? I think the answer is yes but curious when what you guys think.
I have a get 3, gen 4, and now a gen 5. All are summit sp's in a 146. And of course the old get 3 is nice but only an 800. But between the g4 and g5, for me, there is no going back. The g4 feels like a tank compared to the g5. The g4 holds an edge easier but harder to get it there.
The g5 is a home run!
Great comparison.
What kind of track speed were you seeing with the g5 roughly?
Sorry I’ve rode many gen 5 and I own a stage 3 built gen 4 yes I had to dump some coin into it but with that kit and getting rid of the flex track and going to composite man huge difference I hate the look of the gen 5 and won’t get a new ski doo till they change it also you have to change all your gears on them because they went with way weaker drive gears and chain, ski doo uses strut ties if you disconnect those they are night and day side hill difference, I would love to link up with you guys man I go to Cooke often!!
I am going back and forth on a lynx shedder ds turbo and a Polaris pro rmk boost. If you could make a comparison, that would be sweet.
if u believe everything it certainly looks like
it’s night and day difference !
sounds higher reving! thanks for posting
Hey, what tracks were you guys riding?
Gen 5s a ripper. And Lulu even made the vlog!!😂🐺
Thank you. Track speed certainly seemed noticeable...is this true?
Yes, absolutely. You can certainly notice with reentries. The Gen 5 pops out of the snow so much more aggressively than the Gen 4
I bought a NA gen 5 to fill the void until my shredder turbo shows up. Seriously it feels like even the regular 850 engine has improved over my first one
I bet you’re noticing the weight difference! Would be my guess. I think it was in 2021 that SnoWest gave Polaris the sled of the year or something just because it was lighter. They gave Polaris sled of the year over Ski-Doo’s factory turbo lol.
One nice thing about that Gen 5 is how quiet it is, that sound from the gen 4 is annoying
Haha yeah, as a guide (professional ski puller) I appreciate a quiet can. It’s fun when you’re on it. Not fun for your buddies.
@@sledwyo haha “professional ski puller”
Well that’s because the gen 4 in this video doesn’t have a stock can so there’s that
Muffin made the video!
😂😂😂
I’m a skidoo guy, but the gen 5 hype this year is pretty annoying…
