I lauged so hard when rimmy yell at the sturmtiger for shooting at only one russian soldier whit a ppsh 41 I imagine that on the real life: a commander is watching how the soviet soldiers retreats, when a big boom happens near that soviet soldier running away, and after the commander turns to see who did that, see the smoke coming out of the gun of the sturmtiger, and walks into the crew and shout at them every bad word possible
Ya know i get the feeling why they did not want these missions showed off before the embargo lifted..... and since they rushed the release we all get to see the mission in all its buggy/broken glory
The devs took 3 years just to finish the German and Russian campaigns for their modern rts and get the game into a semi-competitive state. Expect the same here.
These games live and die based on their multiplayer and mods, it's not even like it really matters. Regardless, all of the major bugs in the campaign have been fixed anyway.

Kursk´s manpower and casualty ratio can be explained quite simply. The soviets were spread out between a total of 6 defensive lines, the germans got to focus their firepower.
Soldiers wildly out of position doing whatever the hell they want, nonsensical orders, enormous battles that ultimately have no point whatsoever because of events happening elsewhere...ah, it reminds me of the good-old-days when I had time to play EVE.
To be fair, it sounds like almost all the problems with Kursk could be fixed by giving the player the tanks as mission-critical units. The rest is bugs, and mission length (which could arguably be a design choice).
5:53 those are the classic Red Army Cavalry Helmet/Hat, they have a proper name that I forgot about. I think they were made (or designed at least) for the Russian Empire just before the Revolution but never put into service until the Reds found them. Edit: the name is Budenovka or Fruzenka (mostly the first) It is not cavalry only, it was widely used by infantry too but I think they are more popularly associated with the cavalry (and also the Russian Civil War, rather than WW2, by which the hat was mostly not in use by regular Red Army personel).
Actually, when germans started operation, they simply did't know, that they are outnumbered. It was already too late, when they realised it. And in second half of the battle of kursk there was two big soviet counter-offensive, when soviet tried to break the german defence.
The devs actually listened to feedback and fixed the kursk mission. Here's what they fixed/added. 1. No more timer 2. Improved support fire mechanic 3. Access to mortars and artillery signaler 4. Access to light tanks 5. Supporting AI artillery 6. Command of Snipers and flamethrowers
The part about Germans attacking with less men and still winning reminded me of a similar story. In 1944 on the eastern front, 20 Estonians attacked around 80 soviets in a 300 meter long trench and came out on top near the Narva river (i might be off about a few things)
Kursk mission is so badly done that it almost got me to refund the game it's honestly surprising how this mission got itself into release in this state
After playing the game on the hard setting, can confirm, hardest and worst mission in the game. I had to play without the fog of war just to complete it.
Unfortunately I can probably guess the missions that are going to be in the Soviet campaign based on the style that they prefer. Stalingrad, battle of Moscow and either siege of Leningrad or clearing some European city stronghold from German army. Leningrad is more likely. Maybe Berlin or reverse Kursk. What I want to see is Brest fortress, but done good. It deserves it.

Also, the Soviets having a less than favorable death to kill ratio was common on the Eastern front. I believe near the end of the war it evened to 1:1 but at the start it was 6-7:1 and in the midpoint of was 2:1. The Soviets could take these losses however while German forces could not.
