Hello Yves, I am glad to hear that you are safe. This region is so remote that no one has the courage to visit. I admire what you have discovered as an audience. You are really unique type of adventurer and traveller, I haven't seen one like you. Most of them are city lovers. Keep it up, but take care.
Yves, First and for most you are okay and still alive. Just know this is my first comment on youtube, MAN!!! Uffff, What an exciting adventure you brought us on your channel is JUST AMAZING! and to hear your troubles was vey heartfelt. You are an amazing adventurist and do well in the future. Thank goodness you are safe man! That must've been INSANE. As long as you are safe that's all that matters. Even if the footage is lost, I could kind of picture it (the scene), with you giving the details. It must have been an incredible and scary experience. Keep doing what you love, but don't die on us man. I really enjoy you're content. Been there from, (almost), the start. :) ❤❤❤
🇪🇹 I want to express my deepest sympathies for the hardships you've endured, and I truly admire your resilience in the face of such adversity. Life may seem mundane until you come to the profound realization that it is, in fact, remarkably delicate and fleeting.
Hi Yves from your American friends from Jinka! We are happy to learn that our enthusiasm about your adventure played some small role in your decision to continue this awesome journey. After meeting you that day we have watched all your videos and will continue to follow you (whether or not you abandon the bike). Give us a shout if u return to Addis and take care!
Hey Yves, it doesn’t mean you need to ride a bike in order for us to follow you, we’ll be equally happy with you doing it with more comfort and safer as well, look fwd to your next video, hopefully you’re happier in your next video again. 👍
Even I am terrified of moving anywhere outside of Addis specifically at this time. Be careful my friend since we are in uncertain times. Thank you for everything and stay safe.
I have been watching your channel for a while now. I’m Ethiopian and the average Ethiopian never goes to those remote tribes. Glad you survived. How can we donate to help you buy new cameras?
This comment is the truth! This guy is getting out of control and being reckless. Like you’re in a foreign country there’s something’s you just can’t feel entitled to see. Safety first!
Long time ago, I was in Jinka, to visit Mursi people. It was an amazing journey, but you went so far, some treibes are different. Thanks God you are saved. No matter how, Ethiopia is the most beautiful land I ever been.
Hi Yves. Yes, the Surma are apparently notoriously dangerous and violent, it is in their culture. I heard local guides from Arba Minch dont go there either for the same reason. Im so happy you met wonderful people in Jinka to restore the faith in your trip. It's not the bike that keeps us coming back, it's you.
I am one of those who have been following your incredible journey on this bicycle for a very long time. Obviously, it's very brave of you to continue despite the many problems you have encountered in this process. But it is also madness. In the end, it is a marvellous experience. You have progressed very well even so far. It's worth it just for the magnificient views you recorded while travelling on your bicycle😌😌
So glad you are ok Yves! What an experience, terrifying. Do whatever your hart tells you to do. If you decide to continue by 4x4 at one point, I would be just as excited as for the bike. It means you can visit more sites and show them to us! Do whatever feels best to you. I so appreciate your strength and passion for adventure! Be safe out there, it is the most important thing.
You are the most brave modern day explorer . Stay safe you are very brave. Having been to 33 different countries In Africa i know how difficult travel in Africa can be. Had a very difficult encounter in the DRC but survived. Best of luck with your future travels and stay safe.
To be honest I wasn't interested in the tribes it's you and your bike that keeps me coming to your channel. I hope you are safe now and glad you are OK after this robbery. It could have been much worse just thinking about it. Stay safe and hopefully see you soon, travelling
I'm always worried something will happen to him because everything is not as safe as he think it is even in the capital in Ethiopia. He is trying to reach the most isolated places which is not even known they exist and he could be killed and no one will be concerned what happned to him.
Sorry for you! It’s really somehow a no go area for non residents. I have been close to that area 5yrs back, scary! Please take care of yourself & pls take the local warnings serious. I am enjoying everything you show us. Thank you!
So sorry what happened Yves. This sounds savage and no respect for anyone including locals. It must be a problem area. Thank God you are alive. The camera and everything else will be replaced. Don't stop but avoid overly risky areas like this one. You do amazing things and share witht the world so don't stop. Keep going bro!
How are they savage? For existing in their own community while being examined, invaded by foreigners? They simply didn’t ask for people to bother them. Let’s respect these tribes and their existence!
@@BethBirhe-vo5nl Yo, get your head checked. This guy is showing their cultures and existence. He is no invader. Use your language carefully. He is a visiter and should not be treated that way and for you to defend that behaviour unacceptable. Condemn violence, robbery, and illegal actions of what happened. They did not have to treat the local guides and him that way. It is not normal to do that so don't try to defend such behaviour dummy.
So glad you live to tell the tale, Yves! The story could have ended so much worse..... Even your description of the violent festival was scary. I'm just happy to see you vlogging again. Stay safe please.
The bike is part of the unique selling point of your channel, the slower pace of seeing everyone and everything is special - but if it's months and months of child gangs chasing you down the road shouting "money! money!" (or worse) then I can see how that might get a little tiresome!
Thank god you survived! I followed your journey through your channel soon after you left France and this is the moment that I worried about every single time I watch your video. I admire your bravery and am very thankful for letting us see the world that we probably will never see in our life. BUT, in reality, things like this could very possibility happen again in the future if the exploration continues. I will be 100% enjoy the videos of your future explorations, but not at a cost of constantly worrying about your safety and wellness. So please take precautions if you'd like to continue, or i will be supportive on whatever path you decided to do next.
Bonjour Yves, not a responder of video's myself. I've started watching a lot of other 'travelling' channels which now have turned into money channels it seems so I am starting to skip them. You seem to keep what you are doing which deserves the most appreciation. I highly recommend you to inform of the dangers well before you go somewhere. Also what you mention about the food and everything. inform inform and inform. There will be people around which you could stay for a couple of days so you can build up your strenght and also to keep you emotional and mentally strong. Also having an emergency pack of food somewhere on the bike can be a life saver. There will always be 'bad' parts which you cannot avoid. I myself also had a not so pleasant experience in that country while I know a lot of people there are very friendly and helpful. If you need something or are in real need make a UA-cam video and I am sure with the amount of viewers here someone will have connections to get things fixed or help you forward. There is no shame to ask for help, it is a human thing to do.
In my eyes you are the greatest adventurer I have ever seen. I got goosebumps from the story. I wish you an eventful, impressive journey and I'm really looking forward to future videos and that you share your fascinating experiences with us. Greetings from Bavaria in Germany :)
I’m sorry to hear about what happened to you, but I really enjoyed your videos, especially in Ethiopia. It is the number one country I want to visit. Don’t give up.
Yves, I appreciate your work, type a travel show that you don’t get to have with many other producers. You bring a fuller picture of these less explored parts of the world to us. Your passion and bravery are seen and appreciated.
You are a legend sir. But i had this eerie feeling something like this might happen. Because you are always alone. Take time and figure out your next path, but i hope you dont stop. You are an amazing person. Even after all this your optimism in life and humans is just unbelievable. Thank you for showing my country with your unbiased and honest opinion. Be safe legend.
I have the light in my eyes... Your videos are amazing.. Have watched each one...truely inspiring .. Dont give up , Just be more careful...Thank you so much for what you do
It's frustrating losing your videos, but i think you've got to be philosophical and appreciate that at least you had the experience of seeing some amazing stuff
As an Ethiopian im very sorry to hear this, the good thing is that you survived. I hope you understand those men dont represent all Ethiopians. If theres anything we can do to help you we are in Addis Ababa. Any bank account (ethiopian commercial bank), anything, we want to help. And please stop filming a vlog outside you might be targeted more. I hope you all the best.
Glad you are still alive, Was extremely sad to hear this. Me crying already because they robbed me on a travelbus... but this is way worse. Cant wait to follow more of ur journey and from here on it will only get better in the future
Come to Asia. Places like Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, China, Malaysia - nothing dangerous like that will happen. Beautiful, interesting, and awesome people and food.
I am happy to learn that you are safe. It was really a close call. Was it a set up? It is my understanding that the incident occurred right after you let go your body guard. How did those bandits learn that you were without a security guard? I wonder if you were setup by the guard himself or, who knows, could be anyone including your guides.
Now that's some old school travelling you have my respect not many people have the stomach for danger anymore.Growing up reading Thesiger and others was the standard that my buddies and I in the 70's wanted to emulate but you mon ami Yves are his equal in a modern context.I love your honesty and I wish you the best whatever the future holds.A la prochaine greetings from Vancouver BC
You have looked death in the eye. And have a very special memory of the stick fights that hardly anyone has experienced. The balance between risk and curiosity is sometimes difficult to determine. I understand you continue. Just be careful in the border area in Kenya. And after that it is less risky. Take care of yourself! 👍🤞
Oh, boy! Good to hear you're safe! I disliked the previous videos because it felt so unsafe, and I wished you would get back on the road. I hope you stay safe, and on the road!
I was also detained by a group with AKs in South America. It was a harrowing experience. I thought they were going to kidnap us. But in the end they took our money and let us go. I’m glad you are okay.
Merci de nous faire voyager Yves ! Bravo pour ce que tu fais ! J'espère que tout va s'arranger au plus vite et que tu pourras rapidement reprendre ce voyage incroyable !
Yves, the last time I was there was 20 years ago. It was a hard place to get to even for an Ethiopian such as myself. Please take better care of yourself. Times are not how it used to be. Peace and blessings to you on the rest of your journey.
I hate knowing thi happened, Yves. But, watching the tribe videos, I had an eerie sense that it was a doomed trip because of the type of people and location you must be in to experience the tribes. Glad you're okay though.
I'm glad you survived Yves, hope you'll have a safe journey back to France. You're the most original channel I follow on UA-cam. I admire how natural and spontaneous the way you travel and courage you have. Take a good rest, I'll be waiting to watch your next journeys.
Sorry to hear this Yves😢 Unfortunately in today’s Ethiopia people get loot and shoot at by anyone and anywhere - it’s sad! Stay strong & take your time for next travel 👍
Hey Yves, I am really sorry to hear this and I am happy that at least you are good and your life is safe. Unfortunately I have commented you few videos before to be careful because you were doing way to much than you should. I think you have to take time after this to rethink every decision that you do. I would suggest you to get someone who could edit and publish videos for you so you can take care of planning and traveling and then sending your videos asap on your videographer. Take care of yourself.
Yves, thx for your videos and stories, its like more than a year i am with you in your journey, every Saturday keep watching new stories and adventures! Thats amazing, right now there is no difference if you will drive the car or move by bicycle, now all focus on You as a adventurer, not on the stuff. Greetings from Estonia, Tallinn! P.S. I believe it will be really great to see again you after such long road in France, eating some croissants and sharing your emotions how you will yourself at home. Let God bless you, just remember, God saved you in this trouble. Be safe! 🙏🏻💪🏻
Yves that was scary experience, I can tell your passionate about what you do however I would think twice from now on. To go places where yours family can't find a trace of you is scary. Take care and keep us posted.
It looked like an organized crime to me. I think the guard you left before you attacked and the driver also in it. Stay safe brother and never visit tribes or anything dangerous like that again. To be honest, I didn't even like the tribe videos and haven't watched any of them. It felt not genuine and looked fake. They were always trying to sell something.
My advice to you is get out of Africa unless you are in a suicidal mission. Kenya, Uganda, all the way to south Africa are killer zones filled with rebels.
I am very sad to hear about the incident , with all the past experiences dedication and energy you have I am very sure you will get over this and advance further with your epic adventerous travels to far pockets and corners in the world where main stream media wouldn't reach , I would like to kindly recommend you to talk to the guide and people who know the surma area very well , may be you can send people from arba minch as there may be people who probably know the badits at least to get back your passport and memory card
Even sir your cameras, as an Ethiopian I feel so much ashamed of what these guys have done it is totally against our culture and values , but I still believe if you search for someone in arbaminch or jinka who knows the people and the surma people and the area it would be possible to get back the cameras , memory card and more importantly your passport
Som one must report to Arbamich police or tourism office....I'm sure you will get you passport soon...open afile to police Station....I'm very embarrassed... please contact them now..or report to the French embassy at Addis Abeba!..good luck out there My brother!
you should be on the move and not stay for 5 months in Ethiopia and even in France if you are moving like that for long you will be robbed so now you learned your lesson and keep moving because you are a smart guy. Glad that you made it alive and good luck..
Yikes! Glad you're okay. Your bike is certainly part of the appeal/novelty of the channel. (Actually, I'm very surprised the bike hasn't been stolen yet.) Hopefully, you'll continue your journey. Really enjoy your videos. Good luck!
Hi Yves, I am very sorry about what happened to you. The footage you make is always awesome and we have learned so much about different countries and cultures from what you shared. Please don't stop your journey. Definitely, do get some rest and try to unwind what happened to you and your colleagues. Stay safe. Just curious, did you report the incident to police? What happened is a crime and the authorities must act.
You DO realize how much you stand out there don't you? Every single person either driving by, or walking by, look at you like because you don't belong there. By yourself, you are constantly putting your life in literal danger. Move onto safer areas Kino. You're too naive to traverse by yourself, your faith in humanity blinds your reality with regards to how much danger is around you.
Interesting, actually your judgment about me seems a bit wrong to me. I am very well aware of the risks of what I am doing, but I just accept those risks, or sometimes I voluntarily refuse to see them, because this kind of travel is the only thing that truly makes me happy. In the end, I'd rather live 30 years of an adventurous life than 60 years of a life that I would find boring. That's the way I see life. And those risks are actually the salt of life, for me.
@@KinoYves Being aware, and not putting yourself in that danger, is what I see is the issue. You knowingly have gone where you shouldn't, and it's for profit. Is money worth the risk? You aren't showing us anything the world doesn't already know. You seem like a nice person, but to go in expecting to come out safe, is indeed, naive. Be safe Kino. Take the offers to visit asia, australia, America, and Canada. We'd love to see you go where people aren't constantly trying to steal from you, hurt you, and potentially kill you.
You definitely don't know me, I don't care about money, I didn't do it for profit, I went there just because I wanted to go there. I would never take such risks for a video when I can make much more money filming myself eating some random food in a very safe place, I only take those risks because I just like it, and what I have seen there was, honestly, well worth the several thousands of dollars I lost on this adventure. You can't imagine the incredible amount of money tourists pay to see these people, and they are well worth this money. They are among the very last tribes who didn't lose their soul yet... fascinating. It's funny, I already told you that on my previous comment, but it seems that you don't want to understand, money doesn't matter to me, as long as I can have a bed and food, I am happy, but I love life, the thrill of life. And finally, no, it is not naive, the fact that I was robbed there does not mean that everyone is gonna get robbed there, still most tourists make it out without any issue.
@@KinoYves How many times in your travels, have you been robbed? How many times have you been attacked? How many times have you been stalked in your travels? How many times have you almost been in danger? Not worth it my friend in the locations you've been. I love your channel and you, which is why I comment.
@@KinoYvesI truly understand your statement....continue living your life the way you want to....let the adventures continue on your time and your decision of the destination on what makes you happy. Amicalement.
Kino yves, I follow with enthusiasm and profound interest all videos you had on your yotube channel, your courage venturing into violent remote corners in Africa keep us spellbound, it's so scary at times specially seeing tribes fighting and being happy of profuse bleeding as a tribal custom. The one you experienced ! is it not a ceremony that girls come to witness, where they chose the most clever naked fighter as their future husband. Previously I had seen a clip similar to your experience, that was where brides meet future grooms. But this violence is insane. Be extra careful encroaching on such dangerous tribal land. May God be with you protecting you with his majestic power where ever you are. Be safe stay safe, a world of people are watching you, with so much interest. Jacolyn (Srilanka).
THE PROBLEM IS WITHIN YOUUUU. HOW ON EARTH WILL YOU DARE TO PLAN A VISIT TO THOSE "VIOLENT" TRIBES WITHOUT KNOWING IN ADVANCE THAT U CAN END UP IN DANGER ? mon pote Yves le danger est partout present, meme ici en France. Hello Yves, I am glad to hear that you are safe. This region is so remote that no one has the courage to visit. I admire what you have discovered as an audience. You are really unique type of adventurer and traveller, I haven't seen one like you. Most of them are city lovers. Keep it up, but take care.
You went to one of the remote part of the world and came out alive. Sir you are a legend.
😂😂😂😂😂
Yves, First and for most you are okay and still alive. Just know this is my first comment on youtube, MAN!!! Uffff, What an exciting adventure you brought us on your channel is JUST AMAZING! and to hear your troubles was vey heartfelt. You are an amazing adventurist and do well in the future. Bro hope you recover the trauma u experienced and come back with wonders. While you rest we will wait. MUCH RESPECT FROM TORONTO!!!!!!
Thanks for the part you played! I hope that you also stay safe!

Wow, what a crazy experience. Im glad you made it out of it, and you are still committed to your journey.
Stay safe! Your channel is amazing Yves.
Thank you very much !
Thank you Karin !

Thank you for your adventures videos, and I admire your courage.
Bon courage Yves, tu as déjà beaucoup visité et partagé, une petite pause au pays s'impose
Your video of Ethiopia has changed my mind about visiting this nation.

He gave you all the details. What more evidence do you need? Why would he make up such a thing if he didn't happen to him? Get a life!

This are not kids they are,a47 it self
Good to know you're okay! I always love watching your videos and hearing your perspectives. They're always entertaining and insightful!
So glad you are safe - follow your gut, please 🇬🇷❤️🇫🇷
Thank you very much!
Don't follow your gut!! Use your head...
Yves, I appreciate your work, type a travel show that you don’t get to have with many other producers. You bring a fuller picture of these less explored parts of the world to us. Your passion and bravery are seen and appreciated.
Appreciate your efforts to share your stories. Stay safe!

The world is so scary sometimes, but don't give up. The future reserves better things to you man. Good luck on your journey!
Hi Yves, just here to give you a moral support. What you do is not easy but it brings joy to many people to see your “sincerity” in your journey.

Yves that was scary experience, I can tell your passionate about what you do however I would think twice from now on. To go places where yours family can't find a trace of you is scary. Take care and keep us posted.
Sorry to hear about your troubles Yves. Maybe you should try travelling in Australia. It would be great to have you down here. Stay safe.
So happy you are ok. This is a wild story that you will never forget. All the best!
Obviously, the guard was in it, the driver, could be, but hard to be sure.
OMG! What matters most is you are safe Sir! Much love!!
My advice to you is get out of Africa unless you are in a suicidal mission. Kenya, Uganda, all the way to south Africa are killer zones filled with rebels.
Please respect us we are not killers. We respect life and we live here this is home
Get a life
I know I'm late to the videos, but is there no vA 58 ? Was it removed or something like that ? :( And so sad to hear about your terrible experience...
Good luck!
Yeah, I am very well aware that my bike is key to my channel.
Yes, I reported the crime, but it's a lawless area, so they are not gonna do anything
This sounds like the travel of Richard Francis Burton in the 1850s.
exactly ! burton explored full scatchy places!
Happy you survived. A lesson learned. Never move around without a local guide in such areas.
Take the offers to visit asia, australia,
America, and Canada.

Salut Yves, je découvre ta chaîne depuis quelques jours, évidemment je n'ai pas encore pu tout visionner (mais ce sera fait quand j'aurai un peu plus de temps).

Fais attention à toi!
Do NOT give up il faut continuer ton voyage jusko Cape. Bonne chance frere. Malik de Paris 🇨🇵🇩🇿
