I just returned from a solo trip to Lebanon. I took mini busses up through the coast and to Baalbek by myself. I loved the country and the people. Unfortunately they are struggling very badly right now with hyperinflation and the energy crisis. Even then, I felt safe. The only time that I felt uneasy was in Baalbek. I understood that it is an area controlled by Hezbolla before I went, but the city just had a different feel to it. More lawless. Anyways made it back safely and can't wait to return to Lebanon. I really hope their situation gets better soon.
Enjoying all your videos. Now starting from scratch, when you first began your journey from France. I actually just returned from a 18 day trip to France with my daughter. We stayed for a while near Paris (Massy) did side trips to Nice (4 nights), Monaco and Cannes (day trips from Nice) and then a 3 night stay in Lourdes. Did a lot of walking. Enjoyed the Eiffel Tower, the catacombs, Roman ruins in Paris, cruise on the Seinne and also visited the grave of Vincent Van Gogh. Enjoyed every moment.!
Hey. That's a crazy video to watch I really felt for you. To be honest as a Lebanese I wouldn't think about going to the rural parts of Bekaa even though I have friends who reside in Beirut but originally from Bekaa and invite me there but I politely decline. You were very lucky to be honest that the outcome was only damage and theft because they're not only thugs but the area is completely outlaw and its VERY dangerous. The outcome could have been much much worse. My humble advice is to be careful where you're going.
It's gonna take one of these youtubers to die and then everyone will stop believing in tourism for these countries full stop. It's a shame. Please be careful

Wow what a scary situation you escaped from! Your videos that I’ve watched show people that are happy to see you on your adventure, but there is that small chance that you may cross paths with evil . Keep up your guard.
I’m so sorry for what happened to you, I believe this happened for a reason so that you take it as a lesson to not trust everyone who shows friendliness to you and invites you to their house. Btw the first family that you met in Lebanon were super nice.
Seem like you got one of those valuable life lessons where you gain experience but escape virtually unharmed with just the shock and a few dollars lighter. This will keep you safer in the future.
I am very sorry and sad, Eve, because of what happened to you in terms of deception, theft and vandalism, but make sure that every country has good people and really bad people. I really wish you good luck in your adventures and your beautiful travel, which we really enjoy watching, and return to your country well❤❤❤
I am glad that you are safe. I think you should do some research before going to any area because some areas are safer and better than others. Such as in LA or any other city, some areas are so dangerous, and some others are safe.
@@KinoYves i am from baalback but me myself would never visit such remote village and trust these people who look like drug addicts and thieves, whatever what's important now is that you are thankfully safe, and I am just sad you didn't have a good experience with baalback and you didn't meet its truly welcoming people. In Baalback protecting your guest and offering him?her all kinds of love and respect is one of our most important values but these disgusting people didn't do so, what a shame
These people should need ro be reigned in. I'm sure the locals know who they are. Shame on these criminals! They are giving the nice and kind people of Lebanon a bad name and may deprive them of tourist revenue. It still would not stop me from going there. Bad experiences can happen in any country. I'm certain the people of Lebanon are disgusted with this behaviour.
Youve got guts mate. Love your videos. 8 years of of my life in the Army, ive learned long ago that humans are scum in general. Since the dawn of time. Unfortunately all the good in this earth has always been outdone by the bad. Take care out there. Stay safe always aware brother. 🤙🏾
Well defenitely not me. I am very religious and wouldn’t harm anyone or steal a penny from someone. If this guy came as a tourist to my country I would invite him and offer him all the hospitaly I have to offer
They would have probably recommended someone to fix your bike when you noticed it , then charged you a fortune .but you noticed , never said anything and left before their plan went into action. I glad you were ok in the end .
Wish you all the best for rest of your trip. From watching all this I don't think those guys planned anything bad for you. If they did they would have done it. However someone did stole your money and your fear of unknown was justified. I did share of my own travels long ago, money and documents were always kept in small traveling pouch on my chest, exept when I showered. Your journey is entertaining even without major drama. Most attractive aspect of your video travel journal is for viewrs to see goodness in random people you met in all these different countries. Keep it going!
Thank you, and as you saw in my first videos with them (as long as I was oblivious of the stealing and the sabotage), I never had the intention to show anything bad about them, so I do prefer to show when I meet good people. But I also don't want to falsely show that everyone is good in this world, so if something bad happens to me, I will show it as well. Regarding this video, I really think that most of the family was genuinely nice, especially the parents, but also all the neighbors. And stealing is something very very bad in Islam, that's why, in my mind, as long as all my stuff was in the house of the parents, the guys were not able to take anything from me except some cash, because their parents would have kicked them out of the house if they would have taken other objects. So in the house, I was completely safe, thanks to Islamic rules. So the stealing did not scare me, it just showed me that they were not good people. What scared me a lot is the fact that they cut my rack. They obviously cut my rack with a purpose (you don't cut someone's rack just for the fun of cutting it). If my rack is cut, then I can't carry bags anymore on my bike, then I will need someone's help to carry my bags to go to Baalbek or somewhere else, and then someone who has guns, who already took money from me, will help me, and will be with me and all my stuff, far from the eyes of the family... and that is very scary. So even though this area seems lawless, these people do have a law, it's the Islamic law, and for me, cutting my rack was their way to meet me away from the eyes of the Islamic law (in this case, their family, their neighbors). Well, that's why I felt the urge to escape. And just to add something that Westerners usually don't know, a good Muslim will always be nice to a traveler, because respecting and entertaining a guest is very important in Islam, the Guest somehow helps the Host connect to God.
Hello Ives, you can be glad, that you met these guys. Certainly you would have had much more trouble if you had continued your journey through this area. May be, you wouldn't be alive anymore! Hello Yves, I am from another part of the Beqqa Valley. Most of the people in the area are nice, even in Baalbek, however there is a disproportionate amount of thugs in this part of the country vs other areas. These were clearly Lebanese "clan" members of the Beqqa. They may support Hezbollah, but do not take orders from, they have their "own thing" and their own rules they play by. These guys do think they are smarter than you, and I believe they did want to rob you, but do not think they would harm you. Just my opinion. Glad you had fun in other parts. If you want to go to a Shiite area, I would go to the south. I don't think you would have these types of issues there.

You escaped with the most valuable thing, your life. Good luck with your adventures.

Oh yeah, I am very happy of the outcome. Somehow I managed to escape with just a few "scratches", so to say.
It's gonna take one of these youtubers to die and then everyone will stop believing in tourism for these countries full stop. It's a shame. Please be careful

I am glad you managed to escape safely. They might not just rob you, but kidnappings for ransom are becoming a common occurrence in Beqaa/Baalbeck region. The riders in the bus were trying to tell you they are Syrian refugees. Hope you stay safe and well in your future trips.
Kidnappings, wow... that's very bad. Yeah, good that I managed to escape. It was a good lesson, now I try to be more cautious.

Indeed, lesson learned
Seem like you got one of those valuable life lessons where you gain experience but escape virtually unharmed with just the shock and a few dollars lighter. This will keep you safer in the future.
Very true
I am very sorry and sad, Eve, because of what happened to you in terms of deception, theft and vandalism, but make sure that every country has good people and really bad people.

Alleine so weit weg von zuhause kann gefährlich sein ! ❤️
Hello Ives,
you can be glad, that you met these guys. Certainly you would have had much more trouble if you had continued your journey through this area. May be, you wouldn't be alive anymore! I discovered your channel some weeks ago and I love it! I wish you good luck for your plans and hopefully you only meet nice people!
All the best to you

They are clearly not related to hezbollah.. They are Sunni Bedouins... And I think you are also sunni and need to glue every bad thing to hezbollah..

You must have known it is a very dangerous place before you even went there, I would never trust another family even here in the USA, let alone there or even any other country I just don't feel safe. There are a lot of reputable hotels you can stay in through out lebanon, you should only look for those. Some people are saying it can be someone else, but how can it be someone else and the family didn't hear them? They must have needed an electric cutting machine and it does make loud noise. Try getting in contact with police, or hopefully this video gets shared enough and they are arrested.
Yes, I knew it was a dangerous place, I decided to take the risk, but I guess the level of risk was too high. And yes, only the family knew that the bike was in their house, and there is nobody else in the neighborhood, so it can only be them.

Indeed, bad luck... now I am more careful.
One thing I don’t understand is if you were in that much danger and felt that you were in a life threatening position! How would have time to get your bike repaired in the same area ? Doesn’t make since if I was in a life threatening position , I would find the first ride and get the hell out of that area and worry about fixing my bike once I was back in a safe place.
I completely agree, and I also don't really know why I did that, as it seems illogical. In this kind of situation, what you do does not always seem to make sense.
I felt that I bought myself a bit of time as I turned left while these guys were expecting me to turn right after reaching the main road.
And also, I thought that the guy who repaired the bike could help me find a transport to Beirut, which he did, and it would be better this way in order to avoid having to find where is the minibus station, and maybe ending up meeting (at the bus station or on the way) some friends of the guys who wanted to rob me.
As I managed to avoid getting robbed, I do think that I made the right decisions during this escape, especially as Hadi called me several times, after I reached Beirut, to ask me very aggressively "where are you? Where are you? I need to see you"
