    “Batman: The Killing Joke” reunites the foundation of “Batman: The Animated Series” with Bruce Timm returning as executive producer, and actors Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill reprising their seminal roles as Batman and The Joker.
    Synopsis:
    Based on the acclaimed DC graphic novel of the same name, “Batman: The Killing Joke” takes a journey into the dark psyche of the Clown Prince of Crime - from his humble beginnings as a struggling comedian, to his fateful encounter with Batman that changes both of their lives forever. Years later, and now escaped from Arkham Asylum, The Joker devises a plan to prove that one bad day can make anyone as insane as he is - setting his sights on Commissioner Gordon. It’s up to the Dark Knight to put a stop to The Joker’s latest scheme and save one of Gotham City’s finest. Following a gripping prologue introducing Barbara Gordon’s heroic adventures alongside Batman as Batgirl, “Batman: The Killing Joke” stays true to the authentic tale that has held fans’ imaginations for nearly three decades - spotlighting the birth of a Super-Villain, the fortitude of a Super Hero and the punchline that will leave you speechless.

    How has this guy played Luke Skywalker, one of the most iconic hero's of all time and yet can play the Joker (arguably one of the most iconic villains) and do it so amazingly well?!

    • @MidnightDStroyer
      @MidnightDStroyer 7 місяців тому +5

      There aren't many actors that can feasibly & believably pull off roles for both iconic heroism & depraved villainy but Mark does it well. One of the few others was George Burns, in one movie played the part of God & in another (the sequel) played both God & the Devil. In an interview George was asked how he felt about playing the duel role. His reply was something to the effect that he's hit the highest role & the lowest role & really had no other place to go or any further expectations for his career. 😉
      In Mark's case, he's played an instrumental focal point for saving the galaxy from tyranny & also played part as one of the most twisted & depraved villains in comic book history. Sure, he has a ways to go to equal what George Burns played, but George has been in the entertainment business since the days of traveling vaudeville shows & successfully navigated the transitions to radio, then TV...Very few of those performers could adapt through it all. Mark still has some time left to him, ya' know. 😁

      @@joefaller9664 No, I'm saying that's what he did during the 90s when the show was being aired. He said so himself in interviews that he would be driving, practicing his Joker laugh. So people driving near him would look in and see him laughing hysterically before getting a serious look on his face, then doing it again.

      All the behind the scenes stuff said that Mark Hamill's lines were done first, THEN the scenes were drawn with the Joker's expressions and mannerisms matching what Hamill did in the recording booth. He would really get into it.
      I would have loved to see his audition or his first day in the booth. Nobody has really heard anything but the voice of Luke Skywalker come out of him. Then the next thing they know, he throws his head back and belts out spine chillingly insane laughter before sipping some water like nothing happened. That moment when cast and crew were like, "He IS the Joker..."

    "Memories can be vile. Repulsive little brutes, like children I suppose. But can we live without them? Memories are what our reason is based upon. If we can't face them, we deny reason itself! Although, why not? We aren't contractually tied down to rationality. There is no sanity clause. So when you find yourself locked down in an unpleasant train of thought, heading for the places in your past where the screaming is unbearable, remember: There's always madness. You can just step outside and close the door, and all those dreadful things that happened, you can lock them away. Madness... is an emergency exit."

    I swear, that gravely kind of boom Mark does with his voice, it reminds me of Ian as the Emperor just a wee bit. Totally different cadence to his speech and Mark does kind of talk thru his teeth in a very slight lisp. But listen to them back to back and man they both sound like what I'd imagine Satan to sound like in my head. That laugh=ICONIC

    It really comes down to this: when you read a Batman-comic that features the Joker, who's voice do you hear in your head? Ledger? Nicholson? Phoenix? No, you hear F#%king Mark Hamill !!!

      VERY TRUE, but I must say that Ledger's rendition of the Joker was the most compelling for me. His version was like looking into the very soul of madness and evil. Despite that he's been doing it for years, not even Mark Hamill's downright iconic voice gives me the same chills as when I heard Ledger go from "Look at me" to "LOOK AT ME!!!!" and back again. It was incredible.

    • @theCTCamp
      @theCTCamp 3 роки тому +8

      I think it's more the type of Joker. Hamill's is definitely closer to the comic Joker, but if they were to write a Joker in the comics that acted like Ledger's, I'd probably read it in Ledger's voice, but it would be a much different Joker than what they currently have in the comics.
      Like, Hamill's (and the current comic Joker) is more psychotic, you can easily say he's losing touch with reality (the clown/carnival motifs everywhere, which are much more pronounced than Ledger's simple use of the makeup). Whereas Ledger's is more psychopathic, he's still operating with a "normal" concept of reality, he just doesn't care about anything or anyone.
      However, Batman with always be read in Kevin Conroy's voice.

    • @TheMagicRat

      @@theCTCamp There was a 2008 Brian Azzarello graphic novel called simply "Joker", which had a Joker closer to the Dark Knight version. I don't remember too much about it, but I did love another one he did around the same time called "Lex Luthor: Man of Steel", which framed his dynamic with Superman in an interesting way. Superman hovering outside Lex's office window with glowing red eyes was downright creepy!

      @NoamN 4 роки тому +28

      @@hazelgoodshepherd9315 ... you're missing the point. He is comparing 'physical' acts between Ledger and Hamill - Hamill only did voice acting for the Joker, so you can't compare Ledger and Hamill 😅 Well, you can on the voice part, but that's it.

    • @NoamN
      @NoamN 4 роки тому +19

      @Krystal Giove Ledger didn't create the Joker, he borrowed from all past Jokers (Romero, Nicholson, Hamill, etc.) and made something "new". His was not more difficult, just different. He played the anarchist version of the Joker, which fitted the more "If Batman really existed in our world" depiction. No one did a more difficult job, just different. Like comparing apples to oranges. This whole putting Ledger on a pedestal is fine and all, he was great, and so will Phoenix be, but having tunnel vision only gets you that far 😊
